Dale House Cafe

We discovered the café by accident, and were pleased with the offerings. The menu is not overwhelming, but it’s all you need. We had the North Carolina barbecue and the turkey sandwich with brie on a cinnamon roll. Both were excellent. The barbecue is juicy and good quality, not at all commercial tasting. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the service was fast. They have lots of homemade sweets if you like that. The seating by the water is lovely.

This was an absolutely brilliant cafe! Hot chocolate was a pleasant treat after a thrilling, unexpected, quite enjoyable and educational guided tour with Mr. Tom Patton from Aldrich Bed & Breakfast. The cafe offers excellent choices of sandwiches, a variety of snacks and other hot beverages that hit the spot on any cold winter day or well just any day you may have an opportunity to visit this once in a LIFETIME IN THE MAKING HISTORY… during three tour met archeologists who were actually digging for over 400+ artifacts from the original settlements of the English at Fort Jamestown! We actually witnessed the findings too! WOW! Was also blessed to witness use of new ground penetrating identification technology being used to fine areas where they should dig next! AMAZING! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND VISITING THE JAMESTOWN ISLAND!

Excellent Food.... excellent. Definitely above average quality & very reasonable prices. Staff is very friendly, and there's ample seating right on the water. It's a real treat to have a place this nice little of the park. Usually get overpriced touristy places with junk, definitely not the case here. Highly recommended

Visited historic jamestowne in December 2022, week between Christmas and New Years. Was pretty deserted at opening but got busy pretty quickly.

The dale house cafe on property actual had reasonable priced food. We didn't but any because we already had food plans but some of the items sounded good and also baked goods. I've included pictures of some items and the menu.

I would consider eating here in the future if I visited again.

This was a great little cafe, I was genuinely surprised at the quality of the food!

The staff were very friendly and the restroom was clean. Outdoor seating provides a great view of the river.

The quiche, soup, sandwiches were all great.

An Absolute must for lunch while visiting the James Town Settlement. They have Homemade soups, change daily and the best grilled melt sandwiches. There is nice setting by the water, what a very nice place. Yes, I recommend.

The National Park Service leases this cafe to a local restaurant named Carrot Tree. There's a lot of tasty, healthy options with tea, coffee, and beer available to order. We tried the U.S. Grant wrap with apple cider vinaigrette instead of the Bleu cheese dressing and it was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and there was splendid outdoor seating near the riverfront. We were quite impressed with this place and definitely recommend it!

Thank you for making a conscious decision to include vegan entrees and sides! My vegan family absolutely loved the Vegan Spring Wrap (Waldorf-style for those reading) and adored the vegan lemon-basil chickpea salad side, which is a refreshing alternative to a bag of chips. The kids were happy with their uncrustable sandwich meal. We really appreciate not only the effort, but how delicious it was! ❤

Nice place while exploring Jamestown. Had my dog with me, so did several other people. Dogs are allowed, just not where you buy the tickets. The cafe was very accepting of dogs also, treats and a water dish for them. Listen to the guided tour, you may actually learn something if you're not careful. Colonization of the new world was not all roses and chocolates like it's made out to be. Prices aren't horrible considering it cost $21 for two people at Wendy's, ~$11 isn't so far off for good food at a very interesting place. Nice covered patio to watch the ferry and other boats go by.

Yummy food! Love this place. Great lunch spot, right on the river. History and delicious sandwiches and wraps! All the baked goods are heavenly!

Very pleasantly surprised by the price/offerings. Was expecting to be held to a King's ransom but it wasn't too bad. Staff were considerate and attentive. Good job ladies! Also, good place to keep out of the rain!

Great Cafe on Jamestown Island. Always had delicious sandwiches and sweet treats each time I go. I love that they incorporate local businesses into their offerings! Everyone keep in mind, to get to the Dale House cafe you need to purchase admission to Jamestown Island!

Always look forward to a sweet treat while and/or local beer while sitting on the patio overlooking the James River.

I want to say, too that the staff has always been super friendly and very knowledgeable in their offerings! If you have a food allergy, by all means let them know. They are very accommodating!

I don’t know what any of these people who gave a bad review are talking about: this is one of my favorite places to get food in Williamsburg. The staff and the owner are amazingly friendly. My fiancé and I love to get the turkey and Brie sandwich. All the food is so tasty!! I go a couple times a month. I would definitely recommend going. Great views and great food! Also, they support a lot of local small businesses, and have homemade deserts!

I visited Magnolia at Dale House Cafe in December 2021 and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. It was excellent! The day was foggy, rainy, and overcast. So the warm building, good service, soup, and sandwich were a wonderful reprieve from the cold. There is outdoor seating which faces the James River. It must be a beautiful spot on a sunny day.

Such a welcome surprise to find in Jamestown. When we walked up we didn't know what to expect - honestly we were figuring mediocre hotel like food since it was on the Jamestown property.

We were GREATLY mistaken! The food was AMAZING and there were so many yummy choices. I had a turkey and brie and it was so flavorful!

This was one of the nicest most friendliest places I have eaten. The staff there was so fun to talk to. The food was amazing and very well priced. The BBQ and the brownies were to die for.

Lovely place to grab lunch, drinks, or dessert by the James River when you need a break from exploring the site. Everything was fresh. The food was wonderful. Highly recommend the Turkey and Brie.

A delicious lunch that, quite truthfully, we were not expecting from a concession. Fresh sandwiches with quality meats and cheeses and one of the freshest mixed green salads I've had the pleasure to enjoy. We shared a delectable sweet potato cookie for dessert. Would gladly return.

We shared a wrap and a sandwich between us. Both were very good. Sitting out on the patio looking out over the river to eat them.
