Counter service is amazing. It all starts with Carmen, then you wait for the green light. Lauren is the Queen! Candice handles all the online ish! Leah, Marlyn, and Eva are insanely competent as well. I enjoy the time I spend in the permit office. They do need to do something about the planner of the day though! 11-5 Monday thru Thursday and nothing on Friday? Give me a break! Bankers are jealous of these hours

I work the entire treasure coast, south Florida and Seminole county mainly. The entire process from clerk of courts to clerks of the building department and especially the planners, are super cooperative. I started out in the treasure coast and everyone here has helped guide me. They are always happy to answer any questions you may have. It is definitely my fav , St Lucie county are also very helpful .

This building department is my favorite to work with. I have a window installation business and I work in 4 counties, over 20 different municipalities. Just started working on Vero a little over a year ago...

The people are courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable. They turn around permits quickly and clearly explain what the errors are when something is missing.

The worst building department in Florida, especially their inspectors. They make up codes, they don’t care what the Florida building code says. A bunch of idiots working out in the field.

No one must work there. No one ever answers the phone. Their website needs to be updated and made a little easier to navigate. Maybe local government would like to make life easier for their residents to get work done.

Have been trying to obtain a permit on a simple item and started the process in October 2022. Still no permit. Since dropped off it has been 11 weeks

Nobody from the daily examiner picks up the calls for weeks

Up until about 2-3 years ago they were easy to work with. Now, they make up codes in order to fail inspections, they are hard to get ahold of and a few of the women answering the phones are just mean. Their goal is to make as much money as possible on inspection, re-inspection fees and other fees. If the inspector overlooks something (which is frequent) you will have to pay for a re-inspection. They are making it difficult for businesses in IRC to operate. Everything changed when Jose moved from IR Shores.

The receptionist at the Vero Beach department is rude !!! She acts like she's doing you a favor and you should not be there!!! This department SUCKS !!!

Without a doubt the worst municipality and building department to deal with for a contractor. Makes Palm Beach County look incredible
