Cafe Sapori di Sicilia

What a pleasant surprise! I had never heard of this place before being invited for dinner by friends. The atmosphere is beautiful, the food wonderful and the wine delicious. The biggest surprise was how reasonable the prices were. For such a delicious meal with wine, the bottom line was so affordable. Go to try their breads and coffee and indulge in dessert, but please explore their food. The FAgioli was so delicious and comforting coupled with two kinds of Foccacia for dipping. The bowl was generous and perfect for the rainy December evening. My companions had the Lasagna, the Carbonara and the Casio e Pepe. We all had plenty for sampling and even some to take home. Delicious! Dessert was Tiramisu - a portion just right for one or two - with prices to match! Service is excellent with counter ordering. At first I questioned this, but it gave us control of the timing and attention we wanted. This is a MUST DO restaurant in Winona. It was well worth the drive from Rochester.

Great Italian cafe! Wide variety of pasta, sandwich, bread and dessert options. I got the mortadella sandwich, it was a very generous portion. Pistachio gelato was also very good. You order/pay at the counter and then seating is first come first serve with a number. Prices seemed fair. Very cute inside, order ahead is available. Staff was very friendly - would recommend and we will be back!

My wife and I had a great meal at this little gem of an Italian restaurant in Winona. We were thrilled with the quality of the food which brought back fond memories our recent trip to Italy.
All the food tasted authentic to the food that we while in Italy which I think is a great tribute to the chef/owner at this restaurant.

To start off, the freshly baked rolls were very good.

We decided to take a chance on an interesting menu choice of Brussels sprouts of all things and found it to be a surprisingly good dish and certainly worthy of a try if you'd like to be adventurous or simply enjoy Brussels sprouts.

We then moved on to the pasta which was simply delicious. We were curious as to why it was so much better than the pasta served at American restaurants as compared to Italy. The chef explained that they use bronze cut dyes to extrude the pasta giving it the ultimate texture and flavor in the same way that it is made in Italy for generations. You just do not find that quality in the US very often in either restaurants or grocery stores. It was great to come to enjoy this incredible pasta locally.

We then moved on to tarts and cannoli for dessert. We were incredibly pleased with the decadent flavors. Finally, we could not resist the Gelato getting Black Cherry and strawberry Gelatos. Both were fantastic and filled with flavor.

It was a great experience for us and we look forward to getting back to Winona just to get some more of the wonderfully authentic Italian food at Café Sapori di Sicilia.

The service was good. Would have been nice to have table service at a restaurant like this, but it definitely did not ruin the foodie experience one bit! It was sooo good!!

If I am being critical of the establishment, it would be nice to do something different with the front counter area/ backdrop. The brand consistent hue of paint on the walls and the way the area is set up... cheapened the presentation of the space. The remainder of the space is quite elegant and simple!

This place is awesome when dine in but what I'm most impressed about is that they maintain their standards when using doordash. I have found with other local restaurants that they significantly lower their care and quality when it's a doordash order. Sapori maintains their quality, so whether I'm there in the restaurant or ordering from home I know I'll get the same delicious meal. A benchmark other local restaurants should strive for.

Wonderful experience. Italian coffee drinks, fresh baked gourmet Italian bread, pasta dishes, homemade Gelato and desserts. The 4 of us ate way too much but had to try as much as we could. Sandwiches are huge on small loaf of bread cut sideways. Cafe style eating experience. Bought an extra loaf to take home.

I ordered delivery through DoorDash and my order arrived very quickly. Though it's a bit spendy, the quality of the food was worth the price. The capicola sandwich was one of the most delicious sandwiches I have ever eaten, and the cannoli was also very good. I would definitely order from this place again, and I would like to try more items on the menu. 5 stars, highly recommend!!

A hard working chef and dedicated staff have created a phenomenal restaurant fit for Winona's best dining--breakfast lunch and dinner. The food is fantastic, and the way this staple of the town brings the community together is beautiful. Also, best espresso martini you can find in MN!

Dined in on Tuesday, Feb. 2024. I had the Cacio E Pepe (pasta, cream sauce, with extra chicken). Also had the Fagioli (sausage, white bean soup). I recommend the rolls - authentic Italian. The food was delicious, the service was very fast and friendly. Two of us enjoyed the food and the service tremendously. I will be back. Thank you! Mike

We have yet to come to the restaurant and dine. But we do often DoorDash food from here, it has become our favorite restaurant. All the packaging is beautifully done, and the food is SO YUMMY! Will definitely be dining in soon.

My wife and I stopped for lunch after a stop downtown for an errand. We found the service to be excellent and extremely fast and better yet the food was amazing. Everything is made fresh and homemade in the kitchen. We will be back for sure and we'll add it to the locations that were willing to drive a distance to enjoy.

Excellent, that is a real value. Will definitely visit again for a dine in experience. Hopefully, it will be on a live music night. The pastries are killer

I love this place. I think the pasta was made from scratch 💯it’s more like a fast-casual Italian restaurant in the vein of Cosetta’s. Espresso was really good too!

So we stumbled upon this gem in Winona - Sapori di Sicilia! Shared Sugo pasta and a porchetta sandwich. The cafe also have an amazing Dolci and gelato case. We held back and shared a raspberry tart! We returned the next morning to pick up some of the onion and the rosemary rolls for home.

Sapori has quickly grown to become one of my absolute favorite spots in Winona. The food is delicious every time I go and it’s affordable, especially for the quality. I recommend this place to everyone I meet that hasn’t been. I’ve tried most of the menu and I’ve loved all of it. I always bring people here when they come to town.

10/10. Everything was affordable, the entrees were delicious, and the gelato was to die for! It was interesting to walk in and order from a counter, not knowing what to expect, and receive such fabulous dishes. This place lives up to the other reviews; check it out!

This cafe has some of the best homemade pasta I've ever had in a restaurant. I had the arrabiatta, and it was so light and aromatic. Their gelato is very authentic. I would recommend getting the afogato with hazelnut gelato. They also had a live pianist, which really helped with the atmosphere. My only complaint is that they need to put some cushions on the feet of their chairs so they aren't so loud when you move them. I heartily recommend dining here!

Beautiful contemporary dining experience where the food looks extremely appetizing and the gelato calls your name. I had the strawberry and my wife had a cup of black cherry gelato. We also had tiramisu and it was exceptional. Even the water was refreshing. The floor is a high quality marble and the restrooms are clean. Although we didn’t eat the bread or buy a sandwich, the meals are very tempting.

Love the food. I use this place as a treat. Parking can be a little tough at times. Bakery, gelato, and a decent menu to sport Sicilian bistro.

A bit of Little Italy in Winona, MN. Great atmosphere and delicious pasta, with exceptional breads. My sister enjoyed her latte. Everything was reasonably priced. Went back the next day for more rosemary buns, which were well worth going back for more. Staff had recommendations, which were good. Nice they knew what they served, which I am finding that a lot of restaurants' staff can't make recommendations.

Note: I've gone back a few times in my quick trips to Winona to bring back their baked breads. Well worth a stop to pick up tasty treats. Great gelato, with our favorite being chocolate.
