Holiday Inn Express & Suites Columbus OSU-Medical Center, an IHG Hotel

Must admit, I truly judge this book by the cover on the drive into Holiday Inn Express at Columbus OSU-Medical. Its location in the city amongst a few traffic lights and tight building spacing was unappealing. But I was very wrong.

This hotel has an amazing staff that greeted me with a strong smile at the door. The assigned room was very clean and the gym was almost better. Weights varied from 2lbs (I believe) to 50lbs with different machines to chose. The gym was like the hotel room, meticulously kept, minimal, quiet, and welcoming. Outside the hotel, the asphalt two-lane path is great for exercise or a walk, is wide, and leads up to an Ohio State Stadium (about 2.5 miles round trip).

Overall, I love my stay here and will chose again for future visits.

Not one to stay in these types of hotels, mainly because I just travel back home after my visit to Columbus. This year, I booked a room for the week of the Ohio State and Marshall game, and I must say I am thoroughly impressed. The hotel, probably a 5 minute drive to Campus/ Ohio Stadium, is one of the cleanest places I have stayed. Room was just pristine, bed was comfortable, and the hotel staff was beyond helpful and friendly. Didnt use, but they have a pool, weight room, free breakfast, etc. I would highly recommend staying here if you are coming to Columbus for a Buckeye game. GO BUCKEYES

The service is fantastic and the front desk workers are very helpful and it's well staffed. The breakfast is over the top with quite a few choices of high quality food and drinks. The rooms have always been very clean and up-to-date and it's decor and the quality of the mattresses and the TV and refrigerator and microwave and bathroom are always above expectations. The pool and hot tub and the workout room are well are great in what is available to use and the hours they are open. We have been coming here for almost 15 years and we've always been extremely happy with its cleanliness, affordability and convenient location.

The hotel is newer and very clean throughout. The rollaway bed was great so everyone in our family of 5 had a bed. We called the front desk to request sheets and blankets and extra towels, and they were delivered very promptly. The breakfast was very good as well.

Had to stay here overnight to be close to Riverside hospital. The hotel overall is clean and they are trying to keep it updated. The beds and sheets were super comfortable. Breakfast was standard (but they did have cinnamon rolls) I have no complaints with anything.

Millie at front desk is genuinely the kindest person I've ever encountered in my entire history of hotel stays! From our room accommodation to our dinner reccomendation. Staying 2 nights ~our room and the facility are very clean and comfortable. Will definitely stay again if in the area as well as highly recommend. Thanks so much!

Everyone was very kind and helpful, especially Sana. Will def stay here again if I’m ever in the area. Room was clean, service was impeccable. Pool area was fabulous and well kept. A lot of restaurants nearby and not far from the OSU hospital. Easy drive from here to there, light traffic, no highways involved. Highly recommend for anyone that has to travel to OSU hospital.

Breakfast was surprisingly tasty despite being your typical complimentary type hotel breakfast.
Turkey sausage, biscuit and gravy was deliciousness .

Super easy to find using my google GPS. Several restaurants and shopping places close by. Check in was easy and the front desk staff were very friendly and courteous. Room super clean and we loved the full sized shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and lotion. All are Dove brand. Beds super a comfortable. Family and I relaxed and had a great one night stay. Pool/spa area looked nice. We did not partake. Definitely recommend staying here.

I was here for a whole week for a geotechnology conference. The staff was very nice. The breakfast area was huge and wonderful and the hotel has a new workout room. Plus, it was walkable from Ohio State University , one hour. Best place to eat. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the south… Alibaba truck lunch for Mediterranean food. It is amazing. It is parked on the south side of the convenience store near raising Cains chicken fingers. Folks one thing that would be super nice is a bench out front of the hotel. The only thing that was rather surprising was that all the floors were very very dirty - the elevators the first floor… Maybe there’s a staff shortage - anyway… Thank you all.

This is by far the best hotel for the you can stay in for the area. The people are super nice and genuinely go out of their way for you. Hands down the nicest holiday inn I’ve ever stayed in. Breakfast was good, beds were super nice and super clean rooms, and really nice workout center. This hotel is awesome can’t say enough great words about it and the owner is awesome and wants nothing but to make his customers happy, very rare to see such an outgoing owner!

The rooms and common areas are meticulously maintained and the staff are friendly and eager to help. The breakfast is very good with many tasty choices. I will also say people like Mary and Barb make you feel like family. My wife and I enjoyed our stay and this location is one best In The IHG fleet of locations.

Beautiful place to stay, very conveniently located. Made my drive to work awesome. Breakfast was timely, room was clean top to bottom.

Just in the Columbus, Ohio for one night to tour through university. Sure glad we chose this hotel. The lobby is beautiful. Friendly staff. Clean rooms, elevator, pool, and fitness center. Overall very pleased with our stay.

This was my first time at this location. Suite was better than expected. I only book through Expedia and the room showed 2 beds and a pull out bed but when I got there, they gave me a suite with 3 beds. Too bad it only had one bathroom but the beds were perfect. I was going to stay only 1 night but decided to stay another night and they gave me 50 dollars discount off. The swimming pool and hot tub was a delight but had a little bit too much chlorine in them. Thanks for a great experience!

We had an awesome stay at this hotel. It was clean, the beds extremely comfortable and the staff went up and above to be helpful. I would highly recommend for your next visit to OSU!

Fantastic budget hotel!

It was clean, friendly staff, had all the amenities I looked for (pool and hot tub, nice room, free breakfast). I stayed four days/three nights and paid for a slight upgrade of a king room with a small sitting area.

Pros:

The room looked like it had a fresh coat of paint and fairly new flooring. It was cute and exactly as described on their website when I booked it. Most importantly it was very clean. I always check hotel rooms thoroughly before unpacking, especially under mattresses and boxspring, and everything looked great. The floor was all tile and LVL flooring so no carpet which made me feel even better about unpacking. My kindergartner and I both thought it was a cool room.

The lobby and free continental breakfast was also clean and cute with plenty of food and hot coffee and tea for guests. We ate there all three mornings of our stay and the breakfast had enough variety that we were happy (cereal, baked goods, fresh oatmeal, and three hot items: sausage, eggs, and some kind of third hot item like French toast sticks)

The pool was nice with fresh towels available and some chairs and tables. We used it for hours for two days and it was pretty busy but big enough that this was not an issue.

Cons:

This is a budget hotel so there are some cons but they weren't anything I cared about very much or wouldn't expect from this type of hotel so I'm not knocking down any stars but they might matter more to some people so here they are. (I've stayed in a few supposed nice hotels that have had many of these same cons but were also filthy and stingy so I guess clean, cute, and friendly goes a long way for me lol)

Everything was a bit economical in the sense that the soaps, conditioner, and lotions were big bottles rather than individual bottles. This is more a pro for me since I don't like the waste and appreciate the cheaper rooms and the product was nice but it might bother some people.

There were some small cosmetic defects that I wouldn't tolerate in a upscale hotel but didn't bother me here. A small hole high up in the dinning area (too high to be a safety concern or for all to notice) where it looked like some electrical work was done. The alarm clock face was missing a plate (still worked fine but cosmetically "broken". A ripped button on the shower curtain. I'm sure there is more but you get the idea. Nothing that actually impacted me or even that most might notice but it's clear there isn't an endless budget for repairs.

There wasn't room service for the days I was there. I'm not sure if this is standard or if they were just short staffed the days I was there but I honestly didn't care and it saved on tip money. They were accommodating every time I asked for something so I'm sure if I had needed more towels or anything I could have easily gotten them.

No cable/local channels only. This matters less and less with streaming and PBS was showing cartoons my kid liked so it worked for us.

The pool water was a bit cloudy stung my eyes a bit more than a typical pool. I think they used a bit more chemicals than they needed. It was sanitary but a bit harsh so bring googles if you want to see underwater. It wasn't so much that it bothered or skin or smelled bad but I think they could save some money on pool chemicals (and have a nicer pool for guests) if they invested a bit more on testing the water.

There you have it. A bit long winded but I promised my kid I would leave a nice review as she really loved it and the staff there were very nice to her.

If there’s a hotel that you’re in need of, this is DEFINITELY the one to stay at. Hospitality is amazing, the staff are concerned about your needs and as a great difference it smells great! I would highly recommend to anyone in the greater Columbus area!

Staff is super friendly. We are here for family reunion and staff put us all on same floor. We are really enjoying our stay.recommended

The Experience was pleasant while staying at the hotel. The staff is friendly and always ready to help with a smile on their face. The area around front desk was clean, staff was fast to act and helpful. The room was tidy and in good condition. The breakfast was served as one would demand; delicious and satisfying.
