The Donut Shop and Bakery on the Lake, LLC

I'm out on my Columbus food tour, and if it's early enough of the day, I always stop at The Donut Shop in Russell's Point. It overlooks part of Indian Lake.
In the summer, there are boats everywhere and people lining up for these donuts.

Today I bought what I think might be the best apple fritter I've ever had, along with a super soft blueberry cake donut. It's a little later in the morning and they try to only bake what they think they're going to sell that day, so the case was a little empty, but there were still plenty of choices. Both of the donuts were very true to their style, meaning the fritter had plenty of nice chunks of Apple and solid texture. The blueberry donut was soft enough to crumble as soon as you take a bite.

At this time of year, you use the side door, which is wheelchair accessible, but in the busy season, they have two walk-up windows and all the donuts are displayed nicely on either side of them.

These guys do have milkshakes, muffins, and hand dipped ice cream, which I'm sure are all great, but a freshly made donut is always going to win when I'm standing here.

This is a little bit of a haul from Fort Wayne, but it's a great stopping point about halfway to Columbus.

Have driven by many times while visiting the area... and so with the very strong suggestion from my son, we stopped by.
Service was very friendly. They make their own donuts, but they serve ice cream from Homemade Ice Cream (very popular).
I am giving them five stars because it is good to visit and support local business. This place has been around for quite awhile.

Walked I'm and asked for a custard filled donut with maple icing and nuts. They were out, so the lady said, "WANT ME TO MAKE YOU SOME?" Ugh, YES, PLZ! This is what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE! Bought 4 of them & BOY were they AMAZING!

Was staying in Bellefontaine for a wedding. We were leaving that day to go home & drove about 15 minutes out of our way just to get these to take home to Columbus. There was a line just to get them & people lined up behind us too. They were worth waiting for.

Even having the rest of her teeth pulled yesterday momma wanted a donut and Baby Girl and I knew what that meant. We loaded up the car and headed to Indian Lake for the best donuts in Ohio the place never disappoints the apple fritters are amazing it’s a must go. Momma made a mess of it But said it was just soft enough.

When I was a little boy around 15-20 years ago my Grandpa who lived at the lake would take me here anytime I was staying with my Grandparents for the weekend. All these years later and they still have the best donuts I have ever had. My parents live at the lake now and I make a point to visit this place at least a few times every Summer. (It'd be more often if I wasn't trying to watch my weight). Cannot recommend a better donut place than The Donut Shop at the Lake!

Worth the drive from Jackson Center. It's been a long time since we had donuts like this. Delicious! We will be back.

I make sure to stop here when ever I am at Indian Lake. My favorite was the maple bacon donut. But can't help but love to Oreo donut. Well I can say I have enjoyed anything I have picked up here.

Great tasting donuts and long johns, but what is up with the smaller size donuts? A few years ago the donuts were much larger and puffier, now they are thinner and smaller in diameter. I know the price for everything is going up, but 6 donuts for $7 is a little pricey.

Been there since the mid '50's as I recall. That delicious doughnut smell ,up and across Wilgus St,as a child. Ah such precious memories. Accessing doughnuts in the morning,for breakfast by boat.

This is a staple at Indian Lake and a must visit if you are in the area. All the donuts are great and they definitely make one of the best long John’s around (I love the maple icing). If you go during the weekend you will definitely find a line but it moves pretty quickly and the wait is worth it. The nice thing is you can get here by car or boat, so there is no excuse not to go. I always look forward to getting a donut during a summer weekend up at Indian Lake.

The donuts are awesome from this little shop. The cream filled long John’s were delicious and the apple fritters were the size of soft balls. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area.

This place is a must try, loved the Raspberry donut. Very affordable. The staff was so friendly.

$10 for a dozen donuts is a good deal. I will be back the next time I stop in the area. They also open early so it is perfect when you wake up before 7 to pop over and grab a dozen. I really enjoyed their glazed donuts.

Wife's family come here every time when at Indian Lake even back when it was called Hinkle's, heard from local that the place was being shut down and possibly have apartments built there.

The owner replied saying no plans to shut down. Wife is happy. We only come from Texas every 5 years or so and seeing family, White Castles and Indian Lake donuts is what she anticipates the most

I have drove past this donut shop for years. Finally stopped today. I will definitely be back. Staff was very helpful. Donuts were awesome!!!

Delicious donuts at a reasonable price. We come here every time we come to the lake! They have tables outside so you can eat there.
Right across the street from a waterway so many ppl park their boats, walk over and get their donuts.
Kids come in their pj's...its very laid back.

A place from years gone by. The donuts are still the best tasting anywhere. There are boat docks right across the street and plenty of parking area. They now have sandwiches and hotdogs.
