I am an African American female
45-50 years old.
Over a six week period I was diagnosed and treated for an ocular emergency. Namely, CORNEA ULCER. My experience was excellent! I felt totally satisfied with the care, respect and attention given. My questions was always answered; At each visit I was greeted friendly, and informed about the intentions of my attendant. After sanitizing the equipment my eyes was throughly examined.
I had appointments every three days. Because the ULCER healing was slow, I was given an amniotic membrane treatment which miraculously sped up the healing and restored vision, comfort and ease of driving in the sunlight. Extremely grateful for the team of doctors and interns that attended to me there.

I love this place. I would definitely go again. This place is officially my go to for eye exams because the rooms were clean the staff was extremely friendly, giving big smiles and being polite. The intern didn't allow me to feel like a patient but instead made me feel like a friend. I don't know if this was because it was the interns' first day from their summer break but they were all happy an in a good mood. They are constantly being monitored by their supervisors to make sure things run smoothly. They give excellent service and are willing to answer your questions. The only downfall is that you will probably have to wait about an hour depending on how many people were their before you and you may spend a couple hours in your exam.

Been going here since I was a very little girl, great care by the students and doctors! They are understanding & willing to answer all questions.
Most if not all insurances are accepted, plus there are many specialties available here.

I will never go to a different eye clinic again. ❤❤❤. The service is great and DR. explained everything and answered all of your questions. Clinic didn't rush to perform tests. You will be there a while but worth it.👍👍👍

I came with a painful emergency eye injury. I was SO impressed with the quality of care I received from both the student doctor and the physician on staff. It was the most thorough doctors appointment I’ve ever had in any field. I am looking forward to come here for my regular eye exams in the future too.

I went to SUNY optometry for a full eye examination. I was seen by a third year intern by the name of Yana. She was thorough and she gave excellent verbal and physical hand cues during the eye exam which sped it along.

Yana’s physical hand cues were particularly helpful as I was in an unfamiliar space, surrounded by random equipment, and being asked to process verbal directions rather quickly—move my eyes in certain directions—thus making it easier for her to properly examine my eyes.

The whole exam, including pupil dilation, took about 3 hours—which the booking receptionist informed me of when I booked, so no surprisses there.

Overall, the exam with Yana and my interactions with the support staff at SUNY optometry were a pleasant experience.

The only exception to this visit was the minor interaction I had with the teaching physician at the end of my visit. The physician seemed to lack patience when I couldn’t quickly follow their verbal only cues (vs. Yana’s verbal + physical hand cues) as quickly as they may be used to. Despite that, I would still re-book with SUNY.

My vision is very bad so I need certain specialists to treat my many eye disorders. SUNY College of Optometry is awesome. The doctors and staff are incredible. Next door to the Grace Building and right across from Bryant Park at 33 W 42nd Street, this place can take care of any eyes problem.

This is the best place to get your eye exam. Expect an hour or more just for the exam, but it is extremely thorough. They are open early and open late to cater to working people. They have a good selection of frames, that are ready usually in a week.

We had a practically "life-saving" experience at SUNY College of Optometry. My oldest chid, who was in a very competitive boarding high school several states away, had started to complain of all kinds of really bizarre vision problems, as well as headaches. They were just really in serious distress. I had to drive up to their school for hours, and pull them out of school. They had their eyes checked at the E.R., and with an optometrist, and an optometrist-neurologist. I took them to a pediatric neurologist and a cardiologist and an ENT, just for good measure. (The complaints were just all over the place- but the primary complaint was that they could not read books or even their own writing.) Eventually, after a long wait, we got to our appointment at SUNY. In no time, they figured out that my child had Visual Snow Syndrome. It's a rare neurological disorder where the eyes are functioning normally, but the brain is not sending the proper signals to the eyes. If we hadn't seen the doctors at SUNY, we would have just thought our child was a hypochondriac, and they would not have been able to function at school. Now, thanks to vision therapy and special glasses, they are back at school and functioning well. Thank you SUNY! And thank you Dr. Han!!!

I had a three hour examination but I walked out with my prescription and my new progressive lens glasses!
So be prepared if it's your first appointment.

Dr Duchnowsky and her team are amazing
The two interns were knowledgeable, friendly, and thorough
I had a bad experience with 2 other eye doctors and SUNY Optometric was much more thorough and professional
They are interested in patients, not profit..
