Another gem. In Rochester for business and stopped by here based on the reviews. Exceeded my expectations. I'm reading "The Lonely Crowd by David Riesman" and found here an original edition of "Individualism Reconsidered" by the same author; it was only $2. I only had my credit card and went to pay for it. After a brief discussion about the author, the owner told me to take the book and give him $2 cash the next time I was in town. With a kind smile he wouldn't take no for an answer. That act of kindness won them a forever customer.

Cute indie bookstore that was converted from an older building. Many nooks and crannies to scour through, books EVERYWHERE, and a cat, if you can find it. The owner is such a sweetheart, I highly recommend going here if you're in the mood to peruse. There's a couple chairs at the front, should you choose to sit for a minute and read, and parking is on the left side of the building with an accessible entrance.
Most of the store is handicap accessible, but there is a small upstairs portion as well that is not.

My husband lives this place he has bought 100s of books from here. They have a huge selection but ALOT of sci-fi and fantasy which is our favorites. There prices are so so cheap and the gentlemen and his grand daughter are so kind. We love to swing by there. They also have cool painting and other odds and ends for sale at thrift store prices. In the basment is my favorite lots of old old stuff. I love old stuff. You should deff stop in and spend a few bucks for this place. Family business and if you need something certain and special he'll find it for ya and have it ordered.

Wonderful little bookstore. Rocco was very helpful finding a new author for me to follow; I'm on my fifth book from him (John McPhee). Lots of hidden gems and unexpected finds. Be sure to stop in and pet Rex, the house cat.

Absolutely mythical and magical place! I love hunting for sci-fi and non-fiction science/math books and I always manage to find something with every visit. This place caters to every interest and I truly think anyone can find something exciting here. Things get rearranged every so often, so don't be afraid to ask for help finding a certain subject. And don't forget to pet the bookstore cat Rex if he's out and about!

An excellent bookstore with a little bit of everything. Stopped in here with my wife while visiting the Rochester area. We live about an hour away. I wish we lived closer because this place is awesome.

This place is such a gem that I wish I’d discovered earlier. It’s got multiple rooms of books, including an upstairs, and each shelf is packed with every and any book you could want, from leather bound copies of classics to modern sci-fi and romance. The owner is super sweet and there’s even a cute store cat that hangs out around the shop :) I highly recommend it to anyone who loves bookstores.

Surprisingly large bookstore, well organized, and with quite fair prices 👌🏼.

On top of this, they host intimate music nights (often showcasing local Eastman jazz students) on occasional weekend evenings.

Well worth a visit!

The quintessential used book store. Nicely organized with labeled sections. Fair and reasonable pricing. No junk books, purely books of substance and taste, most with that coveted old book smell. The owner was very kind and passionate of his store. And the black cat was a delight to pet while perusing. Absolutely going back!

One of the best bookstores in the state of New York, including the city. Great prices, huge quantity, and easy location. Owner is a fascinating gentleman with a remarkable knowledge of books and the world. Worth driving across the state to visit. I think I spent at least a hundred bucks and walked out with a big pile. Had a great conversation of the owner, which added to the general delight.

By far the most organized used book store I've seen. Perfect place for serious book collectors

Excellent local book store. I've passed it many times but was able to finally stop in and wasn't disappointed. There are books for every taste, a beautiful selection of collectors and leather bound books, and many hard to find titles. I personally love that there are very few "NY Times best sellers" etc, since so many stores carry mainly popular books. This store has a cozy atmosphere and it's easy to get lost in book browsing .

Off the beaten path, full of charm and enchantment. Antiques mixed in with used books and surprising vintage postcards & pictures. Quirky, wonderful selection of titles. A cat or two roam freely. Rocco, the owner, might invite you to stay for tea! Pleasant, cozy venue for music shows. A rare gem for Rochester.

Small World Books is an amazing place. Today my wife and I went to almost all the used book stores in Rochester, and I felt this one was the best overall. Knowledgeable workers (Ryder is a great guy) in a laid-back environment. A ton to choose from, great prices, and discounts if you purchase a large volume of books. There is seating in the store if you wanted to "test-drive" a book in for a bit, and they also have concerts (basement and main floor) and poetry readings (main floor) on select dates we were told (posted at the front of the store and on Facebook). I plan on going back to check out their collection of Life magazines in the basement soon. Parking can be found on the left side of the building, where you will probably be greeted by the store's cat 🐈

The best independent book store experience in Rochester. Very cute cat, great children's section, and incredible books from the last few years (found a hardcover copy of Colson Whitehead's The Underground Railroad and other pulitzer winners)
