When my wife and I arrived in NEW YORK from Colombia, I was AFRAID of this city, the capital of the world is an honorable mention that can only be admired from the outside, because the Yorker sees the way to do everything as very normal, the rigor of jobs, punctuality in appointments, the millions of people who travel on the subway rushing to reach their destinations, it is crazy to live in the multiculture of QUEENS, the challenge of aligning with its strict authorities, working among the rude BROOKLYN and the cosmopolitan MANHATTAN (glamor and asphalt), the demands of the tourist sector, being able to buy my first car in the STATEN ISLAND residential area, the Bronx that still smells to SALSA MUSIC, after 5 years in this city in Nov/23 we had my daughter (GIANNA) at the HARLEM CENTER HOSPITAL and I understood that fear what I felt was because I was not up to par with this city. I am still surprised. The hospital team is an example of cultural diversity and the most efficient and friendly service I could imagine, effort, quality, availability, good energy, coverage. comprehensive, the team is incredible, INFINITE THANKS to doctors and nurses: Campbell, Odesa, Luci, Oudi, Thomas, Bailey! Renee, Bubu, Julia, and those who helped me in these 3 wonderful days, social worker Cardenas, security team, cleaning team (impeccable), food team (the farewell dinner was too special), team of technicians, In general, HARLEM HOSPITAL CENTER is one of the reasons why I will live eternally grateful to NEW YORK and its hospitality, its people and the desire to remain being the first city… in the first country of the world.

Went here for emergency tooth pain and I have to say thank you so much to Dr. Hardy, Ms. Blackett, Ms. Simmons, ladies at the front desk, and the lady whom so kindly let me know when I would be seen ....just to name a few. I understand it's a process to to be able to help so many people. I had no other choice but to bring my kid with me and they were phenomenal. The level of care was great give this hospital credit because let's be honest a lot of other hospitals, offices and clinics aren't caring at all and it shows. Very professional place from top to bottom. Tooth pain isn't a joke, thank you. Nothing but blessings.

Great service on the 3rd floor specifically by Ms. Williams. She had me scheduled to see a Dr. in no time and earliest possible, something that I couldn't have (the schedule) for months when I wasn't trying to call

Dr . Christopher Crawford from the dental department is truly amazing !!!!!! His patience is on another level. I had to wait for a clearance from my regular doctor in order to get an extraction but they took so long. Dr.Crawford made a lot of calls to make sure I get that clearance , he wasn’t upset or anything and was ready to help. Thank you so much Dr.Crawford !!!!!

The ambulance said I had to go to Harlem rather than the closer Columbia Presbyterian. I wasn’t pleased. But I had such excellent and fast care with Harlem’s trauma team. When they thought I might have a heart issue due to the injuries I sustained in a car crash, in a flash, cardiologists and surgeons filled my room. They seemed like a well-oiled team.
I was thrilled with my care, from the orderlies to the nurses and doctors. I am grateful for the trauma team at Harlem Hospital. You guys rock.

The dental department is absolutely remarkable. From the surgeons, to the dental staff to the nurses. Amazing! I had to get a lot of surgery in my mouth and I was really nervous. Not only did they make sure I was comfortable but they calmed me down and talked me through everything beforehand and just overall were amazing and cared a lot. I would recommend anyone to go! Beautiful people working there!

Also, when my mouth first started hurting I learned that you can just walk in with no appointment for a consult/removal to this department. I thought it was going to be a crazy long wait but I was in and out very quickly and the options given for a surgery date were either next day or in a week. So no long wait at all.

Hospital is clean and staff is great! 10/10

Thank you for your service ❤❤❤❤

I was sent to Harlem Hospital ER to receive Monoclonal Antibody treatment for Covid. The ER department was very well maintained and so clean The staff were all very courteous and so helpful I had to wait in a designated waiting room for Covid positive patients between a half hour to 45 minutes It was a Friday evening and I know they were quite busy. After I was brought to a single room with a TV and had my treatment I was so impressed with the hospital and staff I’d give them more than 5 stars if I could

I’ve only had positive experiences at Harlem hospital. I’m a longtime local and overtime I’ve gone besides during covid it’s empty and I’m seen within 2-40 mins max usually. It was very clean and well staffed. I would recommend.

UPDATE #2: I'm changing it back to four stars. Why? Because, today, I received a very kind, personal, and hand-written, letter from the CEO. The letter was so kind, it made my eyes water.

UPDATE: Changing from 4 stars to 1. Wrote CEO, and the city. Not one response! Not only that, a woman from their finance department (Matellis) told the nice clerk in guest relations that because of my insurance, I was not going to be reimbursed, and that I don't need further explanation. Matellis' arrogance has a nasty stench! What has my insurance got to do with their staff cancelling our appointment and not informing us of that cancellation? Reminds me of the saying "The patients run the asylum." A lot of Harlem Hospital staff won't use their medical services. Instead, they use other hospitals. About 15 years ago, several Harlemites told me if they ever had an emergency, and I took them to Harlem Hospital, they would die and come back to haunt me. Why? I'm beginning to understand why (I'm a slow learner at times). Tolerating these awful experiences-that come from the staff-not the doctors. It's the bad employees that are apparently following in the footsteps of their leadership; knowing they won't do anything about appointment cancellations. I feel horrible for that elderly couple, because I told her to write to the CEO of Harlem Hospital, and that they would do something about these uninformed cancellations. She said they wouldn't. I kindly stated they would. She was right. I thought the hospital would be professional and rectify their mistake. I was so wrong. I'm waiting to see that lady again, apologize to her, then take my elderly mother to a more professional, medical facility, where they do care about their mistakes. END OF UPDATE.

For the third time, they cancelled an appointment but didn't inform us. Really worse for another very, elderly couple and the wife had to push her husband in a wheelchair. This time, I complained to Guest Relations, asking for reimbursement of our transportation. They called and asked for details. That was last Wednesday. Glad they responded immediately. Haven't heard anything since. If I don't hear back soon, I'll write the CEO.

This is specifically for Dentistry...I had 5 teeth extracted by Dr. King yesterday...this young guy is a miracle worker. I felt NO pain during the procedure and its a day later and still feel nothing. He was super cool and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. If you need teeth pulled get it by him!! :D

I hope this reaches the right person because this employee deserves all the recognition and more for her amazing service.

This is in recognition of Jennifer (I believe she told her last name begins with an A.) who works in the Covid Vaccine Center at this facility.

I encountered Jennifer during my second vaccine dose on May 29th. Before hand I needed to reschedule my original appointment date and Jennifer went above and beyond to schedule me For May 29th.

When I arrived upstairs, Jennifer was at the front and greeted me promptly. She answered all my questions clearly despite multitasking as there was also a Hispanic family that she needed to translate for.

She made the experience absolutely flawless and compared to most who worked in the area she was incredibly helpful and friendly. Her friendly demeanor and approach really helped calm my anxiety and worries about the second dose.

Jennifer was a shining bright light of what customer service should be. Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. It’s something I’ve rarely encountered at this location and other hospitals.

I certainly hope this young woman is recognized for her amazing service!

I went to Harlem Hospital this evening for my first COVID vaccine and want to commend the kind, thorough, totally professional and on-it staff. I was in and out in under an hour. They are clearly handling a large volume of patients daily, but everyone I encountered was good-humored and made the experience pleasant and calm.

Today I experience the most caring, concern and customer services oriented services any hospit had ever provided. The husband of a friend had bariatric surgery. She was very concerned about not being able to see her husband. I suggested we should call and ask if it could be possible. After being transferred around trying to locate the patient. We were finally able to locate him. The hours of visitation had passed but the person who answer the phone reassure me that she will call downstairs to allow access to my friend into the building. After numerous attempts she was denied entrance. I decided to call and told her not to leave as she was crying for not being able to see her husband. She. I. Allied back the receptionist at the guest relations number remember that I had called as. Offer to call upstairs and to security to make sure my friend made it. I felt a sense of satisfaction because it’s very rare when you see employees at hospital going out of their way and being emphatic about visiting and concern. I definitely will give the workers on the 12th floor and the receptions KUDOS! For such an excellent service.

First time going to this emergency room and I was pleasantly surprised with how well My family was treated. I’ve steered clear of this hospital because of bad reviews but tonight my infant son was very sick so I hopped in a cab to the nearest hospital. Within two minutes we were in triage in less than 3 minutes we were in a room I had to rush through paper work because they were ready for me. My son was treated the same way he’s been treated at weill cornell but at a public hospital and it was amazing. High quality care and attention. I will now be switching here permanently. Even the security guards were super nice.
