I had two knee replacement at HSS. The first was my left knee the end of Sept 2015. I fully recovered with mobility and returned to my normal routine. It was imminent that I would need the right knee replacement in the future. That surgery was done the beginning of December 2023. I am now recovering with extensive physical therapy and plan to return to work mid February 2024. Kudos to my surgeon Gregory Difelice, MD and his team! Their professional and compassionate approach in taking care of patients with orthopedic issues was more than I anticipated. I am happy and fortunate to have such a great team that guided me through this difficult process. Blessings!🙏🏾❤

So once again it was time to see Dr. Carli. This time it was my right hip that was gone. Five years ago Dr. Carli did a bilateral replacement of both my knees. That worked out so well that he was obviously my first and as it turns out my only choice of surgeon. Operation was done in September, did my rehab religiously for a few months and result was as good as possible. Just came back from Patagonia and was able to hike all the trails. Understand the trails there are not the same as a walk in Central Park. They require the use of walking sticks on very rough trails.
Once again I recommend Dr. Carli unreservedly.

I had a lower lumbar fusion 4 days ago with Dr Lovecchio. Time will tell the ultimate result, but he was communicative, easy to understand and confidence-inspiring from the first consultation through the post-surgical period. It's also encouraging to hear that the procedure was textbook perfect. Kudos to anesthesiologist Dr. Panzer and internal medicine specialist Dr Nelson plus their teams. Regardless, there is little good about waking up incapacitated and a bit disoriented in a hospital bed. However, it was great to see the smiling faces of the nursing as well as broader care team on the 6th floor. Their routine empathy, skill, patience, and senses of humor were greatly appreciated. I could not speak more highly about my dream team of Thamar, Jackie, Bari, Frankie, Gabby, and Malika as well as mobility tech Andres. Thanks!!

The big sign out front says it all: #1 in the world the last 12 years in a row. But the staff at HSS are what make it the best place to receive healthcare. The view ain't bad either.

I had to have spine surgery in my cervical area and met with four surgeons for options and opinions. I was most impressed with Dr. James Dowdell from the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. Dr. Dowdell and his team were very attentive to all my questions and concerns. He was very clear in explaining his proposal to correct my two level compression in my neck. I decided to have my surgery at HSS because of their reputation as the number one orthopedic hospital in the tri-state area. The entire staff was so kind and caring. From the parking attendant to the receptionist to the nursing staff. I can't say enough about how caring the nurses were. From pre-op to the operating room to post-op. Every nurse was caring and attentive to both my medical and personal needs. I may have back surgery in the future, I will definitely be returning to Hospital for Special Surgery.

I just had a Total Knee replacement at HSS yesterday. As person with a number of past surgeries, I've been impressed with the full spectrum level of care at HSS. Doctor Cushner and his entire team, from office workers
down to the nurses were caring, knowledgeable and kind. I didn't plan to spend the night but the care received made it worth while.

Unfortunately, I will need to return in the Spring for my other knee but I know that I will be well cared for. Thank you HSS.

Had bilateral knee replacement in April of 2023 and I’m so glad that I chose HSS. I planned the surgery 6 months in advance and HSS was helpful and a great experience each step of the way. Dr. Fred Cushner is my surgeon and he is truly a pro! I stayed overnight after my procedure and can honestly say that the level of care is unmatched.

Had my total knee replacement surgery at HSS in April of this year. I had the pleasure of meeting some amazing medical professionals. My doctor Dr. Cushner anesthesiologist, Dr. Green, the physical therapists by name of Denise and there was also a young man, but I forgot his name. And amazing pca her name was Edna. If it wasn’t from them being on my team and making sure I reach my goals. Of getting back my life back to normal. At HSS they want the best for their patients.

Absolutely the best orthopedic hospital in the world! From the spinal fusion surgery thru after-care, Dr. Lebl and his team gave A+ care!

I needed to have my left hip replaced and after a couple of visits with surgeons at other hospitals to compare my options, I was greatly impressed by Dr. Michael Ast.
Dr. Ast and his team at the NJ Paramus office, as well as the team at the HSS hospital answered all my questions and concerns very throughly.
Deciding to have the surgery done by Dr. Ast at the HSS was the right one. The facilities in NJ and NYC and their entire staff, from receptionists, nurses, personal care assistants and even volunteers are second to none, all very professional and kind.
If I need orthopedic surgery in the future, now know where I to go, HSS...

Best Hospital ever! My mom had surgery here with Dr. Todd who is an amazing doctor, very caring, very trustworthy and very easy to talk to. He made me feel good about the whole process my mother was going through. After surgery, he follow up every single day and she has been perfect afterwards. Dr. Singleton is super friendly and did a great job at keeping her without pain. We really appreciate that. During her stay, every single one who treated her was amazing, very friendly, very caring, but the cherry on the to is Samuel (Sam). He took the time to make us feel like home. Thanks for everything. I couldn’t be more grateful.

Ultimately, I needed a double lumbar spinal fusion with a bone graft from both a lateral and posterior approach. I chose the phenomenal Dr. Federico P. Girardi. He and his staff made sure everything went off without leaving any stone unturned. My hospital stay was a little longer than expected at 7 days but I didn’t mind at all. HSS’s reputation precedes them and therefore, I couldn’t ask for better all around. I’ve worked In many hospitals during my career and certainly know a bad one when I see it. Anyone who wrote a negative review must not be divulging the entire truth of their experience or their expectations were over the top. Thank you to the entire HSS staff of the 6th floor spinal unit!!! I can’t wait to heal and get back to living!!!

Outstanding customer service, very clean, always professional. Nurses are phenomenal! Actually all the staff here is phenomenal! Job well done. You get royal treatment as a patient.

Since the beginning ,first meeting Dr. Wanich, I knew he was the surgeon for me. I’m a very active person working on my feet all day for my business and doing rock climbing in my spare time. I NEEDED Someone that understood I need to be back to 100% or even better. Dr. Wanich made me feel secure with his knowledge and I was excited to have him work on me.

I’m now a day post Op for my ACL and Meniscus surgery and I can proudly say I made the right choice. Tony and HSS are a force to be taken seriously. The hospital and staff all were amazing. Young and knowledgeable and very informative of everything that was to come. Thank you HSS and Dr. Tony Wanich. I hope I never have to see either of you again 😂 (meaning no more Injuries). An amazing place. If you must have orthopedic surgery, this is the best place in the US and possibly in the world. Everything is geared to make it easier for patients.
If you have a hip problem, Dr. Bryan Kelly is the top hip repair specialist in the country, possibly in the world. Put all your exams, X-rays and MRI together and send them or bring them to him ASAP. He'll look at them and call you if you are within his field of care.
He's kind, considered, and even being the top gun at the hospital, he's available to talk to his patients and answer all questions. And he knows all there is to know, and then more, since he does all kind of research, and finds the best way to do what needs done.

After years of suffering through hip pain I had a total hip replacement in early March of 2022. I was fully aware of their reputation of being the best from family and friends that had procedures done there.

Even with heading into my surgery with high expectations I was blown away by the level of care, compassion, and professionalism.

The resources available starting at my consultation, pre op physical, and straight through to recovery we’re amazing and put my mind at ease. I felt as if the staff were cousins or family friends in terms of their bedside manner.
