Great loop! Approx. 2.5 miles on the yellow trail. Lots of up and down thru the woods! Only view of lake that we saw was about 1/3 mile from parking lot, if you start left on trail. Peaceful on a Monday morning in late July.

Ideal for a brisk hike but not a long one. Scenic loop through fields and woods. Some parts require some energy to get through but nothing technical. Old fireplace and truck are worth a stop as well as the lake view. Not crowded and very peaceful.

Steeper than expected, but so quiet and peaceful, and loved the multiple stream crossings.

Every person that goes here can tell that there are not that many people that ever go here but it is such a gorgeous view and is so peaceful. I highly recommend this place

There we were, sitting in front of Bucktail Falls. We had the dogs and couldn't seem to find a trail. We asked the only other person around if he knew of any. He said there is place a few miles from here but he had never been. So we went. Staring at the sign we could see the outline of the trail. We decided to go right. The dogs loved it. Nice nature trail. Then regret hit me. We were going down hill. What goes down must go up when it comes to hiking. Nice views and then our dreaded uphill. It seemed like it went forever. I remembered on the sign there was a bench. i made that my milestone. I kept going and going. I kept doubting if we had passed it already or not. I was tired. Exhausted. I saw a clearing. In the clearing was the bench. My focus was on this bench. I made it. Sat down to catch my breath but it was taken from me. The view brought a tear to my eye. Picturesque. Like something you only see in paintings. This place has it all. Nature, doubt, beauty, you name it. This view was worth it. I will always remember it. Thank you.

Great section of Skaneateles, and absolutely gorgeous if you catch it in the right season. Kinda a hidden gem, not a lot of people. Great for a short hike or picnic

A beautiful spot for hiking with sweeping views up from the south end of Skaneateles Lake. The trails are a mixture of woodlands and open fields going through old foundations and fireplaces of homesteads long since abandoned. Be sure to check out the old 1930's Chevy truck too that sits abandoned!

Great loop to hike with lots of beautiful views! It gets very steep in parts and has a couple of water crossings, so bring your hiking shoes.

Went after a few days of rain, was a much tougher hike than expected, but worth it.
