If you are looking for a few hours, or an overnight with your spouse, this is a good place to go. My wife and I went on the Castle tour and wine tasting bundle. We also had the spa package; sauna or hot tube and massage.

We really enjoyed the time at Henderson Castle. We did not stay for dinner but have read, and heard, so many people talk about the amazing steak (next time for sure). The history and the uniqueness of the castle was really neat. The wine was good, they have a selection of 6 Henderson specific wines so a good variation. My wife and I ended the evening with the hot tub and a couples massage, and we loved the experience.

My husband and I spent a night here for our anniversary. It was amazing! We took the tour and did the wine tasting, both of which were interesting and fun. The history of the castle was so cool to learn about, and the interior was fascinating!
We also had dinner, which was incredible, and enjoyed a late night swim in the heated outdoor pool. How cool to be able to swim in late October!
We will absolutely come back!

We had dinner reservations for surf and turf special (no special occasion, just my husband and myself as a gift from our daughter). There was a MAJOR snow storm, and they called us at about 4:30 to confirm our 6:30 reservation (and to confirm that we would need 4x4 to get up the hill with the weather). We are always up for an adventure, so we confirmed that we would still be there. We were the ONLY table there, and they shared that everyone else had cancelled due to the weather. They literally stayed open just for us!!! If that wasn't amazing enough, the food was unbelievable!!! If you like seafood, you need to experience the seafood tower!! WOW!!!! We also enjoyed a bottle of house wine and wonderful dessert. This is more than we would do for a general night out, but will definitely be back for a special occasion. Also hoping to do one of their wine tasting/tours soon to see more of this beautiful place.

My boyfriend whisked me away for my 41st birthday and we pulled up to this lovely mansion on a hill. He just told me to pack an overnight bag. We stayed in the French room and it was charming and welcoming. Staff super courteous. We placed our breakfast order when we checked in. Sadly the spa was booked but we toured the castle and relaxed until dinner. We then had a lovely French dinner comparable to a meal I actually had in Paris! After dinner we enjoyed the roof top hot tub in January. It was one of those perfect moments we will cherish our whole lives! The next morning we enjoyed a lovely breakfast in our room. I highly recommend this place! I hope to return soon!

My friend and I did a girls’ weekend at Henderson Castle. From the moment we arrived, we felt very much at home. The mansion is stunning with many of the original architectural details. We did the historical tour and then the high tea service. We enjoyed them both very much. We had signed on for the murder mystery dinner that evening. What a fantastic time that was! We met a number of new friends along the way. The room we stayed in was charming and very comfortable. It had a private bath. The whole experience was magical from start to finish. I will definitely be back. I live several hours away - and it was worth the trip. I just loved this place! I need to come back in the summer to experience the wine cave and outdoor patio. The staff are all delightful. They went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional.

Stayed in the Queens Tower. Was immediately taken back by the castle’s architecture and beauty! I loved being able to explore unoccupied rooms. The view from the balcony was breathtaking. The staff was friendly and helpful. I’ve always loved the castle. It’s on my bucket list to stay in every guest room from here on out. ❤

My boyfriend and I decided to stop in for a wine tasting and ended up staying for dinner. Megan.L was amazing. She hosted our wine tasting as well as served us at dinner. Megan was very knowledgeable and pleasant. Staff truly went above and beyond to enhance our experience there. It just so happened to be my birthday and I was happy to spend the evening at the historic Henderson Castle. The building is absolutely beautiful and full of character.

Everything was amazing!
Staff was so friendly and attentive, food was AMAZING, drinks were great, and the stories were awesome too!
We stayed in Cabin B (Carriage house) which has the 2 person whirlpool tub- added bonus, it has a backdoor to a little garden!
The other rooms inside of the mansion were beautiful! Next time we will definitely stay in one of the other rooms.
It is exactly what it is- a very old mansion with all of the quirks and beautifully decorated.
Owners- feel free to contact me for photos of the rooms we were able to see. I have almost all of them.

My friend and I came and took the tour, enjoyed a tea, tried their wine, and enjoyed a 20s themed murder mystery dinner. Plus hit the heated swim spa/hot tub The weekend was a ball. We made new friends, all of whom were all in at dressing their parts, playing their characters and mingling to search for clues. Miranda at the front desk was a sweetheart. Matt the bartender was slammed but made it fun for all. Make sure you try his signature drinks. The servers at the dinner busted their hump. The meal was tasty, I had the walleye, excellent. The cleaners also did a good job. My only suggestion would be to get volunteers or interns from the university to go all out at decorating the indoors and outdoors for the holidays, the staging was either just getting started or the castle is lacking in supplies. But we will definitely return!

Ps - returned with my daughter this weekend. Matt was welcoming as ever. I really love this place!!

My husband took me here as a surprise for my birthday. It was such a fun and unique experience!!!! We stayed in the tower room which was so cool! We had fun walking around the castle, our server for dinner was such a sweet girl and so amazing to talk to, and the bartender was very welcoming and made me feel extra special by giving me a birthday glass of champagne when we first arrived.

Great stay! We booked through expedia and it was great value for money. The staff helped us really good with everything. We slept good and the hot tub on the roof was a nice plus. Breakfast was small, but enough to get us through lunch. Would stay here again.

Ah, the illustrious Henderson Castle, a bastion of luxury and refinement, or so they say. Allow me to regale you with my experience at this fine establishment, where opulence meets absurdity:

Upon first laying eyes upon the castle's grand facade, one is met with awe and admiration. However, dear patrons, do not be fooled by appearances, for within lies a realm of olfactory horrors. The scent of cigarettes and mildew wafts through the corridors, a charming blend reminiscent of a musty cellar.

As we crossed the threshold, we were greeted not by mere mortals but by theatrical creatures, who also doubled as our hosts/maid/manager/and all other clearly and evident missing positions for the evening. A unique touch, indeed, though one that left us questioning the sanity of our reservations.

Ah, the check-in process, a delightful comedy of errors! Our reservation, unlike those of four other couples, was miraculously present. Oh, how I wish it had vanished into the ether like a magician's trick!

After a lengthy wait at the bar, we were served an espresso martini that could best be described as a concoction of Folgers coffee, vodka, and a splash of half-and-half from a bygone era. The addition of an ancient spoon was a nod to the mixological prowess of the 1812 era, or so we jest.

The room key, a veritable puzzle of 18 keys on a single ring, led us to a cottage outside the castle walls. The aroma of fresh paint assaulted our senses, a sign of recent remodeling or perhaps a misguided attempt at olfactory artistry.

Within our humble abode, Salvation Army stickers adorned the Chinese decor, a whimsical touch that spoke of thrift store chic. The promised jacuzzi room was but a mirage, replaced by a calcified iron shower head that rivaled the beauty of a coral reef.

The lack of a thermostat led us to rely on the heat of the shower, which in turn transformed the tile floor into a frigid lake. As we ventured out for dinner, our appetites tinged with trepidation, we prayed for a culinary miracle to save us from the specter of the bar.

Returning to the castle, we braved the icy weather to access the lukewarm hot tub, a feat that required the strength of Hercules and the patience of a saint. The mismatched robes and slippers added a touch of whimsy, though warmth was a luxury we dared not hope for.

As we retired to our beds, we found the sheets redolent of mildew, and the mattress akin to a relic from 1812. The morning brought burnt coffee and a disappearing server, leaving us to seek sustenance elsewhere.

In the aftermath, my attempts to offer some advice for process improvement to avoid a bad review were met with silence, a fitting end to a farcical escapade. And so, with a wry smile and a heavy heart, I bestow upon Henderson Castle a generous five stars, knowing full well that the truth lies beyond the facade.

Farewell, Henderson Castle, may your legacy endure as a cautionary tale of grandeur gone awry.

I stayed years ago in the Italian room as it was known. It was an amazing experience! The right balance of luxury with a little eerie atmosphere.. we got the most AMAZING pictures! The food was incredible and the tour was impressive! The view from the rooftop of Kalamazoo is like no other!!!!

I must say, this is by far one of the best Castle I’ve ever been to and I definitely will be returning. Yesterday I took myself and my daughter for High Tea and it was amazing! We enjoyed every minute of it. Our server, Yohan, took care of us and made sure we had an amazing time. Keep up the good job and thank you for everything yesterday! Best experience ever!!!

Took my wife for a quick get away. Very well worth the trip. Staff super friendly and helpful rooms and castle absolutely beautiful and comfortable. Chef Chris cooked our dinner to perfection and Chef Francois made our breakfast and I have to say hands down best omelets and croissant. We arrived and from the start we were immediately beginning to relax. This is a must stay and enjoy. Can’t wait to go back.

After deciding to do something different for New Year's this year, I decided to travel 2 hours to get to this lovely castle for a masquerade ball. It exceeded mine and my husband's expectations. The staff went above and beyond from start to finish and the food was amazing. I will definitely be coming back!

We have been doing the couple’s packages for the spa treatments for 3 years and they are wonderful! My husband is obsessed with the tomato bisque! The dinners are delicious too! We did wine tasting last time and the bar tender (Mike…I think) was very knowledgeable on his wine! He even got my husband to try some! We now have a bottle of wine! We enjoy going for something special and different then the normal.

The cabin was comfy and I enjoyed the privacy. It was great for a couples getaway. We also took the cook class and made tomato soup (I don’t remember the correct name) from scratch. It was delicious and a simple recipe!! My boyfriend can still make the soup a year later. The onsite restaurant was convenient and had great options. The Castle is about 5-10 minutes away from many major stores and restaurants which is a plus for any last minute needs.
