This place is beautiful, we did a 5 day four night backpacking trip. I suggest you be in shape and have someone who knows the area. I ordered a map from USGS just to be safe. We got rain for a day and a half but we were well prepared. No phone signal for miles. Be prepared

I'm going to say it this way, if you're looking for a place to disconnect from the world and reconnect with what God built, go. Pictures are the trail to the right after the road block on bridge.

There isn't any wifi here (I have Verizon), the last place I could send a text seemed like it was back by the sign for the turnoff to the trail, about 4 miles down the road. I also didn't have any cell service for the hike to the needle. Lots of fungi growing after recent rains though.

Excellent hiking conditions 2/09/20. After a heavy rain is the best time to hit some trails in Sipsey. 206 & 209 were a little muddy in spots, but not horrible. All the muddy spots and creek crossings were easy to negotiate. I made it from Thompson Creek to Bee Branch and back without my feet getting wet

Needs some work but I’m signed up to help the sawyer team get it done. Beautiful hike. Bring a gps and follow safety protocols.

Beautiful trailhead. I mean words can't describe it. Literally is the most beautiful I've ever seen. You can hike so many trails here or camp. There is even a horse trailer, but ended up on a hike to go see a big tree. Definitely people should be looking for this trailhead.

Wanted to camp in Bankhead National Forest and googled Sipsey and this trailhead came up. Not sure this is really "Sipsey Wilderness proper," but it was okay. I didn't go too on the hike (maybe 1 hour in and back), so it may get a lot prettier further on. Anyway, there were a few camps sites (clearings with fire pits) along road and at parking spot. Road was gravel for at least 10 minutes and cell service is very spotty along the road and entirely gone over you get all the way to Thompsons trail head.

Hiked this trail 4 miles in, and 4 miles back out. It was a well marked trail with very little elevation change as it snakes around the river. Had some great views and several campsites.

The trails are beautiful and well kept. However the storms in that area have been getting progressively worse and many trees have fallen. I frequent the trails and my vehicle got blocked by trees one evening. Enjoy safely and on clear weather days
