It’s a very enchanting forest. Be careful you have no service and can easily get turned around. We’ve hiked so many miles last year in here. And still coming back for more. Winter is definitely my favorite time. It’s quite no bugs and waterfalls are just beautiful.

It was absolutely beautiful, and peaceful. The water was really low, but we found a great spot where it was still running enough for us to filter some water. No filter needed for beautiful pictures.

Beautiful but trails are not marked well. Have a GPS. No cell service. Wilderness is correct.

Very beautiful spot. Senic spots all the way through. Went on a hike with a local club. Enjoyed every minute of the hike and senery. Highly suggest you do a hike here if not to just go see the wonders Alabama has.

Sipsey is one of the coolest places to go in northwest Alabama for outdoor enthusiasts. Miles of trails, hundreds of waterfalls, millions of smiles and wows. So much to see and be in awe of.

That’s one big tree. Lol.

Enjoyed these trails so much! Great day hiking, backpacking and camping. Trails were dog friendly and mostly mellow. A few technical spots that provided a fun challenge as we searched for and found several of the gorgeous waterfalls!

I would give six 🌟 if I could. A lot of trails and beautiful waterfalls. Bluffs on both sides of the river with very tall trees. If I'm not mistaking The sipsey wilderness area host's the biggest tree in Alabama. Great kayaking, fishing, horse trails, walking trails everywhere and so much wildlife you could come every day and still not see all this place has to offer.

the trails are beautiful just like the other reviews say, however, the google directions that bring you to Thompson trailhead will bring you down about 5 miles or hole-filled dirt roads that are really only suitable for trucks or other off-road vehicles. luckily we made it unscathed, but another couple there ended up stranded with a flat tire... maybe look up a route to a different trail head if your car isn't up for an off road adventure!

Beautiful, especially if some exploration is done. I'd advise avoiding the horse/wagon/hiking trails, as there's not much to see and having to carry water due to minimal water sources on those trails. Check out Rippey Cabin, The Biggest Tree in AL, Eye of the Needle, Fall Creek Falls, Model-T, old bridges, Fat Man Squeeze, and countless waterfalls. Very beautiful, especially if you can find these gems scattered throughout. Some cell service South and East of Big Tree, along with a couple other small zones with 4G LTE. Enjoy!! 🙃

This is one of the best places to go backpacking! There are plenty of trailheads and each presents different terrain. There is plenty of water to filter or boil. There are tons of rock faces and campsites are abundant. The Sipsey Wilderness is always an adventure and there is a lot of wildlife too!

My favorite hiking spot in Alabama. Plenty of trails and seems like hundreds of waterfalls. Some of which are easy (less than a mile) hike from where you park.

I could literally live in this wilderness. It is my favorite place to escape from the real world. No Facebook, news, or any of this new way of coping that has taken us away from the natural state of mind. Just 100% pure nature and it's not too far from a town. Great for day hikes or backpacking to really unplug for a few days.

It is absolutely breathtaking. From the turquoise river to the tall cedars. Total eye candy everywhere you look. Nice to be out looking beyond a computer screen or cell phone.
