Dam Site Campground Fort Gibson Lake USACE

At 50 years old I have more memories from Ft. Gibson lake than I can remember! Lol The dam site up on the hill has a great view if you can find a time when it's open. The dam itself is a very impressive structure basically in the middle of nowhere.
There are multiple spots around the lake for camping or just day trips and a hotel near the lake too so it's got what you need. It's definitely worth seeing.

Finding this spot open is the hard part and it's really overgrown this time of year (prolly why usually closed) BUT it's still worth the wait.

For primitive camping here since the flooding knocked out the electricity and water it still great. There are 20ish spots, most with standup grill for cooking and rock firepit. Only bathrooms are potapoty by the parking lot. They had TP in both the whole time, sanitizer in at least 1 everytime us girls had to use one.

Great for fishing like paddlefish, putting in your boat or kayak, spending the day with family/friends! Lots of exploring nature opportunities. Dogs are welcome.
Super close to Tulsa/BA.

Went to catch the sunset and maybe a fish or two. Lost 2 lures, no fish, but the sound of the waterfalls was so peaceful. Also, no weird smells, so that's good!

Great spot for a picnic or an evening camping. Fishing here is great when they are letting water out of the dam

Fort Gibson Lake is beautiful and I take photographs there quite often.

Dry camping. Beautiful place. Free camping for up to 2 weeks. Fire grills and rings. Beautiful water scenery. Pet friendly. Well kept. Very clean! With outhouses at beginning. No water. Patrolled regularly for safety. Sometimes the warning horns from the dam go off. Usually early morning and late night I think. Very loud and scary if you don't realize what it is. Camp host is very nice. Horns or not...I love this place. No stores, etc for about 6-10 miles.

Great place to fish, at the time of our visit all gates were closed and water was very low, soon to change , it's always amazing to see what we can build

Good fishing plenty of shade and it's just a nice all around place to spend the day with your family. The water depends on how many gates they are running out the dam but it a great place.

Can't camp winter months but still a cool place to stop and soak in

So nice and peaceful to stop by and go for a little walk by the dam.

I love buying lunch and go to the lake and relax. So clean and green and pretty.

Awesome place to Camp fish and just to hang out with friends

It's a nice campground for R.V.s they nice bathrooms on one side of building and on the other side theres 4 separate shower rooms nice clean and friendly. Theres staff that lives on campgrounds during summer hours and at other times you have Park Rìangers. If you need anything at all you can call them and they will do there best to make your stay an enjoyable one .

Although it a little messed up from the major flood...love to go there...lots of fishing opportunities from catfish..sandbass and stripes...just nice to watch all the different birds....and the Eagles when they migrate and nest!!

Primitive camping. Out side of that, I really like this place. Was really nice 5 years ago. Would like to see them get restrooms working again.

The view was beautiful and they also have a camp site there. It was nice,and they have a bar across the lake called the Dam bar😳
