Puerto Nuevo

We use to go to the Puerto Nuevo in Banner Elk until it closed due to the fire. It’s clearly taken us some time to ck out the Newland location. We were not disappointed- even saw some of the staff that use to be in @ BE location. Food and service was great. They always have pretty large portions so we always have leftovers. I love the salsa bar. Decor is nice. This location is bigger than it looks from the outside. Looks like we will be driving into Newland more often now :-)

If you want delicious Mexican food with impeccable service, look no further than Puerto Nuevo. My husband and I stopped in during a getaway to the area. We both got combination plates and wow! We also enjoyed the salsa bar. Do yourself a favor and go check this place out!

This is an amazing Mexican restaurant with a great salsa bar. My wife and I are big into "authentic" Mexican restaurants and we're surprised to find such a great spot in the middle of a mountain town. Portions are large so make sure you go with a good appetite! We loved it so much, we went back to back days on our 5 day trip to NC!

We love the food at Puerto Nuevo (Linville site), and hope they are able to reopen a restaurant in Banner Elk. My favorites are the burritos and chicken fajitas. Also love the chips and salsa bar.

Small restaurant but big taste! When you are seated they give you chips and this delicious salsa. The food was delicious and prices were very reasonable. Kids menu is good too the kids loved it! Definitely recommend if in the area!

Love this place. It’s great service and awesome food. Highly recommend this place. You won’t regret it. Parking can be tricky but we had a great experience. We will be back.

Edit: Another great meal. However I ordered a fajita (steak) and it came out on a plate. It was good just not fajita hot. Always good service tho.

AMAZING! So much food for reasonable prices and it was delicious as well. Service was great, Had a way to make you smile or laugh every time they came to the table to check on you. We went 2 days in a row.

Busy but we were able to get a table on a Thursday night (noticed 10-15 minute wait for others). This is one of 4 PN restaurants, we frequent the Spruce Pine one. This one was also very good. Tried various Mexican specialties: Apollo Funtastico, 3 meat quesadilla, ala-cart burrito. Had leftovers.

It was very good. We will absolutely be back. The chips are perfect and are served with bean dip, which was great. They have a salsa bar (which you help yourself too) that did not disappoint. Order came out correct and staff were friendly.

The staff in this place hustle! Superb service, excellent food, busy atmosphere and incredible prices. I don't see how they make money. We had a shrimp quesadilla, a tongue taco and a mushroom quesadilla. The tortillas are light and crispy served with a cheesy sauce and they have a salsa bar w guacamole, Verde, hot and medium salsa and Pico degallo. I'll dine here many more times.

I had this place for lunch and it was really good. They had a bean dip for the nachos, which was a nice twist. The food was well prepared and Tasty!

Was driving through town after nice hike at Linville Falls. Nothing to look at from the outside, but it just had a vibe that it was a local favorite. We stopped, and it was among the best Mexican restaurant we have been to. Very authentic and homemade items, reasonably priced... Rare these days!! They even have a homemade salsa bar with 6-8+ choices of awesome homemade salsa! Nicely dressed wait staff, very good service, authentic music to provide atmosphere. Really outstanding place, recommend highly!

Had the special and was pleased, tasty, hot and fast. The appetizer chips and (bean salsa? Delicious and different). Affordably priced. The salsa bar had several choices, and chip refills let me try them all.

Amazing Mexican joint that offers a variety of salsa in their fresh salsa bar. It was some of the best Mexican food we had in North Carolina! I would recommend the nachos and the burrito with carnitas. Vegetarian food options are pretty delicious as well. Overall, a pretty solid restaurant for affordable and tasty Mexican eats.

Food was outstanding. they had a salsa bar - I tried (and enjoyed) all of them. Definately would go back.

In town on vacation. First time here. Chips and bean dip different but good. Fajitas are phenomenal...lots of chicken and steak served with homemade corn tortillas and all the fixings. Excellent service with Ramon!!

Stopped in Mother’s Day, so very busy. Service was fast & friendly. Place was clean. Food was decent except the Texas ACP only had one shrimp. :(

Fantastic food. We had Puerto noevo fajitas for 2!! Enough food to feed 4 people. The servers were absolutely great. Very friendly and kept our drinks full.
