Rodney Baptist Church

I love this town! So much history and so many lives taken here, from different things over the years. From war, to floods and the Mississippi River, changing its natural coarse. This is a beautiful area, full of all sorts of wildlife and amazing scenery! It's truly a shame, not many people know about this abandoned ghost town. I think more people should know about the area.

Sadly, we found it boarded up and heavily damaged from frequent floods of the Mississippi River. I recommend parking down the street and walking, as the roads are pretty washed out. I was thrilled to see some people restoring the other church, so maybe this church will be restored also (hopefully before too long). It is a beautiful area, scenic and surreal. Not lots to see, but certainly worth a visit. The drive itself to get there is gorgeous, especially in the spring. Highly recommend a walk around. If you like ghost towns, or just cool settings, this half forgotten piece of Mississippi American history is a great reminder of the past and a fun place to respectfully look around and admire what is and what used to be.

Just like father Gabriel’s church in TWD. Watch out for walkers in the back rooms...

If you love abandoned old places, this is a great piece of Lost Americana for you to check out. No tour guide, no historical markers. Just the relics of a community long gone.

Use The Access road coming from The University. Looks like a road to knowhere, but iT takes you to Rodney. Stay allert and don t drive with rain. Road is in very bad condition. Big holes.

Perfect photo location if you love old churches! This was the church used in the James Brown movie.

I love this little ghost town. Very nice to visit and explore.

I hope someone continues to maintain this place of history.
