Now now ladies it's a glorified goodwill .there in the business to make a turnover ..there storing and consinging your old and unwanted clothes there's always some good with the bad and reverse.

They have made a lot of mistakes. Wrong size sent, preowned items marked as "new with tag", or significant undisclosed damage. They are always quick to address these mistakes by offering a return and refund.

I'm a seasoned seller on several online marketplaces and sent them a box of new with tag and name brand items just to see what would happen. I was surprised that they only accepted 1 item. I could have sold those items myself and made a lot more money.

Their appeal is to everyday people who don't have the time or patience to sell items on their own, but it's unlikely that you'll get much for the items you send. If you just want to clean out, ThredUP could be a good option for you. If getting money for your items is important to you, I'd encourage you to reconsider sending to Thredup and sell the items yourself on Facebook Marketplace, Poshmark, Vented, Mercari, Depop or eBay.

While I would not send stuff to them, I still like buying from them as their deals are pretty good. Every now and then they will run a sale that drops their prices lower than thrift stores.

The dresses are an okay purchase but the rest is garbage. Shirts look to be full size online but a lot of them are cropped and the sizes are not accurate. I ordered a size 10 women shirt and got size 10 youth (final sale) and size 7 flats and they came as an XXWide which wasn’t listed in the description (final sale ofc). A lot of purchases have come this way unfortunately. I will not be purchasing from this app anymore after today’s delivery.

Clothes that are worn and have defects are advertised as new or like new. I will not order again from this company.

Unless you want to donate for the workers to steal and flip your gowns for their own profit.
this company only gives you a $1 on every $50 your item is worth and then the high end stuff they steal and resell on another platform. Sent a Vince camuto velvet gown and four to 5 other party gowns that were never worn and they are not listed even though they are in demand. Warning do not send your clothes to thredup!

I can't even begin to say what a rip off this is. I sent in 3 bags of clothes which were like new condition and name brands. I sent approx 400 pieces of clothes. I thought well, even if I only got $1.00 for each item I would still make money. Nope. By the time they figured charges for them, I got zero.. zero.. something is wrong. I never received my items back either. I know I said to send back what didn't sell, but it's just your word against theirs. No customer service at all.

Seller Beware!! Don’t do it!

The “free” clean out bag actually costs you $15 for shipping and handling once they receive it. You receive a very small fraction of the sell price IF an item sells. Example $1.89 payout off of an item that sold for $19.99. But remember I still owe the $15 s&h fee off my “free” cleanup bag so now I’m only negative $13.14.

If items don’t sell in 30-45 days then ThredUp owns them. IF you want them back they will charge an outrageous $5.49 PER ITEM to return them to you. I sent 15-20 pieces or more in some of the “free” clean out bags. Want to do that math on what it would cost for me to get my items back if they don’t sell? Several new with tags.

D’T DO IT! Run, don’t walk in the other direction. Heck I would have been better off donating my items…then it would have been actually free plus a tax deduction!

This company is a scam for sellers!

At first I thought this was a brilliant way to sell clothing and accessories I don’t need or want anymore and purchase new (to me) items to freshen up my wardrobe. This saved me and immense amount of time because I didn’t need to take pics of the items I no longer wanted, post them on various sites, write a long description, check multiple times a day then go to the Post Office to mail it. ThredUP seemed easier…….. that was until I sent in my daughter’s Hunter rain boots that she wore maybe 5 times and the dress I wore to her wedding. Magically these new items were “not fit to sell and had to be thrown away.” Hmmmmm a new dress for a wedding worn for 6-8 hours and a pair of pristine Hunter boots had to be thrown away? Uh huh. It then dawned on me that there is no monitoring of the people who receive the bags that are sent in. How could they possibly watch every single worker open every single bag? So this mail in service with, no proof of what you sent and what condition your items are in, becomes a free for the taking to whomever wants to take them racket. All the employee needs to do is say they are not sellable and that’s it. My dress and my daughter’s boots, among other items, were stolen by ThredUP, straight up stolen. When I tried to tell customer service the situation I received a nasty email stating they sided with the worker and they refused to do anything about it. Some of the employees at ThredUP are thieves there is no nice way to put it. And why is it so difficult to find a phone number to call customer service? If you think about it you are just putting your clothes and accessories into a bag with absolutely no guarantee they will acknowledge receiving your bag or that your items won’t be stolen from you. I advise against trusting this company, they are dishonest and will make contacting them extraordinarily difficult, then imply you are a liar. ThredUP is HORRIBLE!

Don’t sell through this company. Complete scam!

The “free” clean out bag costs you $14.99 OR MORE once they receive and process your clothes. You get pennies on the dollar off of what they sell the item for and have to pay the shipping and handling $15+) fee off the top so you can literally sell clothes through them and not make ANY MONEY.

Then if your items don’t sell you have to pay more than you would have made off of the item to get it back PLUS pay shipping fees. After the 30-45 days is up for your items to try and sell they become the property if ThredUp and seller gets ZERO.

I’ll donate my clothes instead of having this company make millions off of cheating the sellers. I hear Poshmark is better to sell through. I wish I read reviews and fine print first.

I won’t even buy from ThredUp now because I’m so angry with how they treat sellers.

This used to be a great place to send in good brand name items. USED TO BE! They charge a high processing fee and you get very little for what you send in. And your more expensive high end brands mysteriously never sell but aren’t returned. It’s not worth the hassle, pass this by and donate to a good thrift or charity.

I've been thinking about this review for some time now, mainly because when I first started using ThredUp it seemed like a good deal for me. I was able to recycle my old clothes I no longer needed and make some money. BUT those times are gone. ThredUp has been running on empty for a long time now, charging their clients to mail inventory to them and charging a processing fee. Quite literally the focus of their site... they're now charging because their business model isn't successful. Now while I admire their interest to re-up and bash fast fashion, they really do NOT practice what they preach. They sell H&M, Target, Macy's and Forever 21 brands on their site... these are just a few of the fast fashion brands that they look down on. When I first started selling on TU about 2 years ago, things were good. I was making about $600- $120 per box. There was no processing fee or return shipping fee then, please note. I was satisfied with the pricing, you might even say I felt they were charging TOO much for my items. That has completely changed. The reason for my review is to express my distrust in this system and the employees running TU. I most recently sent in a gm Louis Vuitton Masseur messenger bag. It was purchased and authenticated on eBay in 2021. I spent $600 on it. Truth be told, I never wore it, it was too big and I stopped carrying my laptop to work when Covid happened. I sent it to TU to sell. I am 100% careful and particular with having ALL of my returns sent back to me. I even label the shipping labels at my printer. I never heard back on that bag, it was not listed in my items nor was it returned to me. I called TU and they said that I sent it in on a no-return label. That was completely false. I asked for proof, but they couldn't show me anything. I had my proof, they dismissed it. I asked for the bag to be returned to me, they sent it up the never ending no one actually cares customer service which is a complete joke. I spoke with countless people, all with no answers except sorry it's gone. You're not organized? You don't keep records? You just toss in the garbage? I know without a doubt that there is a TU employee who is wearing that bag right now. They said it couldn't be authenticated, fine... just return it to me. Why toss it? Even if I had opted for the no return, which I did not. Why not for legal purposes send the high-end bags back. That's just good business. I worked a few summers for fun in consignment stores, I had the time of my life. And as good practice even when we said that if you don't pick up the bag within 30 days the store owns it... we kept the high end stuff for the sellers just in case. A happy seller, sells more stuff, keeps your inventory going and continues to buy. I mean, I think I learned that day one at Haas. My next issue came when they sold a Brahmin weekender bag, the limited edition sort... for $65. My cut was $20. I bought it for $500 brand new, and sent it to TU having never been used. Do they not do research? A quick google search had my bag on ebay, the real real, rebag and fashionphile all for over $500. BUT they sold this rare bag for $65, Brand spanking New. What???? Why??? No. Since then, I have pulled all my items from TU. I'd rather donate them to a charity and get the fat write off vs the measly few bucks they send your way. I think that is the trick? They sell an item or 2 of yours to keep you on the hook, but my high end items were going lost. They really should take a second look at how they operate. I've been called a VIP with them for 2 years since my items sell the highest, but they certainly don't treat me like it. I'd be surprised if they last past 2024. Not good business practices. They should be ashamed of the scammers they have become.

This company claims to be inclusive and understanding of people’s differences but that’s false. I’m vegan and every time they had a meeting or special occasion they always failed to bring something I could partake in. Not to mention there’s vegetarians that also got the shorter end of the stick. They would reassure me by telling me they would look for something I could consume (never really believing them) and they would ALWAYS say they couldn’t find anything. Don’t claim to be all inclusive when you’re not. Not to mention people with severe nut and dairy allergies. Management could care less.

I wish I had checked the reviews before buying. I bought a shirt advertised as long sleeve but it was short sleeve. I returned the item. Return took 20 days. I requested refund but instead received store credit. Now I can’t reach anyone. Do not use Thredup!

I’ve been buying with this company for about 2 years. While I have found some decent deals and clothes I liked, I continue to have majority bad experiences with them and I’m DONE! You cannot communicate with a person if there is something wrong with your order which I think is red flag #1. I was sent highly damaged pieces that were “final sale” but the damage wasn’t not disclosed, obviously I wouldn’t have bought it damaged. Which brings me to red flag #2 which is undisclosed damage to most of the items as well as wrong sizes listed, more used condition than disclosed, I even got a dress that they photographed backwards on the mannequin so when it was the right way looked completely different. #3 You WILL NOT make money selling here. Cents on the dollar if anything- you’ll be better off selling on other sites or to a consignment type store. They lie to you about what you will make in your items to get you to send things in so they can stay in business. They also gave me a 8 week turnaround so I sent fall/winter clothing in AUGUST and it didn’t get on the site until FEBRUARY!! 6 months, and of course many items did not sell bc of the season difference. Please beware if you choose to do business with this company or just stay away all together.

Claims of free shipping and 2-day shipping are an absolute LIE. Placed an order with arrival time marked as 2 days on items from Suwanee (bear in mind, transport is to Roswell/Dunwoody area). Emailed after 2 days to be told there is a 12 DAY PROCESSING TIMEFRAME! Will be reporting to the BBB as this has been a complete nightmare. This entire site is a scam and a rip off.

Rip off! Send clothes in that are new and they’ll sell for $20 and give me 0.48 and then subtract $14.99 so if you don’t sell enough, you’ll owe them money!!! Lesson learned! Never again! Poshmark is way better!
