Excellent experience! The food was great and affordable, the staff were very friendly and were on top of it. Also, there was literally a line out the building for seating when we walked up but they pushed the entire line through in about 15 minutes so the wait was not bad at all for the amount of people trying to eat there. We had the German biscuits and gravy and they were great. I would strongly suggest having breakfast here!

Fun breakfast/lunch place! Get there early as there can be a long wait. If you do have to wait they a fresh bakery with new cakes goods constantly coming out! Also lots of German sausage and dry goods to choose from as well. The staff was very nice and made sure the kids meal came out fast! Very fluffy eggs as well.

Limited parking out back but there is more space up the road if needed.

Well worth the long wait to eat at this place. While waiting, we ordered donuts, apple fritters, and cannolis to go-they were delicious. Service was great. We ordered biscuits and gravy, strawberry Belgian waffles, and bacon onion hashbrowns with an egg on top. One of the absolute best places to eat breakfast in Helen. You won't be disappointed!!

My wife and I dine here every year on our anniversary. The breakfast is always amazing and always more than enough. My only issue is the breakfast syrup. With such great food like the alpine French toast or amazing waffle it just falls short with the smuckers breakfast syrup. I personally believe a true maple syrup would be so much better than something made of high fructose corn syrup and artificial coloring. It’s like putting a bumper sticker on a Ferrari. Syrup aside this place is amazing and I would still highly recommend to anyone wanting a nice breakfast or fresh doughnuts and other fresh baked items. If you prefer fresh meats this place has it all and you will not be disappointed. We will continue to dined here any time we are in town.

Wow, this place is absolutely delicious! My wife and I took our son this past Saturday at noon. We waited 5 minutes before being seated. Our waitress was wonderful. The Hungarian goulasch suppe is incredible, and the bratwurst on a pretzel roll was out of this world. The mustard was perfect, the roll was incredibly fresh, I even love the sauerkraut, and I don’t eat sauerkraut. My son is a very picky eater, and he devoured the Spätzle “Schwarzwald.” 10/10 we’ll be back again. I can’t wait to try their breakfast. Thankfully, we’re somewhat locals.

I recently had the pleasure of trying Hofer's Bakery for breakfast in Helen and I must say, it was an absolute delight! The Belgian waffles were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, making for a perfect breakfast treat. The creamy cheese omelette was juicy and smelled amazing, leaving me wanting more. The German omelette with sausage and egg was also a winner - it was tasty, fresh and had a great balance of flavors.

The waiters were dressed in traditional German attire which added to the overall ambiance of the bakery. The decor was reminiscent of a cozy grandma's home, making for a warm and inviting atmosphere. The pastries on display were so tempting that I couldn't resist trying a few.

Overall, I highly recommend Hofer's Bakery for their delicious breakfast offerings. Whether you're in the mood for something sweet or savory, they have something for everyone. The quality of food and service is top-notch, and the cozy atmosphere makes for a memorable dining experience. Don't miss out on this hidden gem in Helen!

We waited in line for about 30 minutes, which isn't terrible for a holiday weekend. Server was nice and attentive. We ordered the Bacon Onion Hash and the German Potato Pancakes. We also ordered a Bread Bowl to go. Grabbed a Snickers Cheesecake from the bakery. Food was very good and the bread was great. This is our 2nd visit over the years. We will definitely return. We were able to park in their lot but that may not always be the case.

We decided to take a weekend trip to Helen. Hofer’s Bakery is just one place you can’t pass up! We made it for breakfast (just make sure to get there as early as possible or be prepared to wait - still worth the wait though). We got there around 8:30 and maybe had a 15 minute wait. We had a delicious breakfast! We got the Mountain Climbers Breakfast and the
Apfelküchle! Both were great! Probably one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a long time! Well worth checking out!

Waited in line for an hour… drooling at the bakery case filled with home made cakes and pastries. The line is intense and I could tell it would be worth the wait. The staff dresses in German and old world style dress. Top Notch service. The bread was too crusty for me, but I had a veggie scramble with cheese and hash browns, 2 eggs over medium. Of course waiting an hour to be seated and then longer to order and be served, I ate it before I took a pic. I also tried the cream cheese and scallion omelet. Both delicious. Then dessert… German chocolate cake and amaretto torte. They were more dry than I expected, but still good.

Very busy establishment; very good baked goods! We had the German Chocolate Cake and a Lunz cookie—DELICIOUS!! We definitely will try lunch on a return trip; the location was highly recommended by our friends.

We couldn't have a better start for our last day in Helen! Delicious German breakfast served by a very friendly and attentive waitress who made our first meal of the day even tastier. Thanks Barbara, we hope to see you there when we come back. Restaurant opens at 8am, and there is always a waiting line, we went there twice before we could make it early enough to avoid the wait. But it was worth it, the people who wait there to have breakfast already say about the quality and atmosphere of the place. A wonderful taste of the town well kept culinary traditions. Highly recommended!

Great way to start your day or weekend. German and traditional breakfast items on the menu, offering options for everybody. There will most likely be a line so we recommend getting there early. I had the biscuits and gravy while a friend ordered and loved the French toast. My only regret is not eating here more than once on our trip.

Best restaurant in Helen. Food was delicious and I loved the experience. I recommend getting there early like 7:50 and waiting in line. We had the bacon and onion hash and the climbers breakfast. I bought several pantry items and bakery goods as well. 10 out of 10, if you are visiting Helen for whatever reason, you MUST eat breakfast here.

Waited close to an hour in line after arriving 15 minutes after opening. If you don't want to wait in a very long line, you need to get in line 10-20 minutes BEFORE they open.

Either way, food is worth the wait. Everything was homemade and so flavorful. The biscuits are warm and fresh! If you can get some of their fresh donuts, you'll be blown away

Great taste of German food just to walk away from the square. Cool bakery available for grab and go selections. Breads, pastery, cakes and more. The restaurant was a little wait but it's worthwhile. The food was fresh and tasted authentic to me. I didn't get to try a sandwich but they all looked good. The can't remember the full name but I got the schecken schnitzel it was cover in a super flavorful gravy and served with noodles. They also have a a selection of German beer if you want.

Delicious, authentic German cuisine. We had the bratwurst with pretzel bun and the goulash. Wow…absolutely delicious.

Service was a bit slow when it came to taking our order when we sat down, but once the order was taken the food came out quickly and hot!

We also had the Bavarian creme donut…it didn’t disappoint either.

Restaurant is small inside so be prepared to wait if you go during peak lunch or dinner hours. However, it will be worth your wait.

Hubs and I visited to try some pastries. Oh my were they delicious. So delicious, in fact, we brought home a few extra delicacies, which have been amazingly awesome! Great place, but oh so busy. Be prepared to stand in line for a bit, but the pastries are worth the wait. The food line, to the right was longer than the pastry line with double the wait time, at least. This is a must place to visit when in Helen, GA!
Pics are of the chocolate croissant and cherry Danish. Both were to die for!

We got breakfast. They serve traditional German rolls instead of southern biscuits with your breakfast. They do have traditional biscuits and gravy available but the gravy has a German twist! The interior looks like a little cottage and the servers wear Bavarian style clothing. The bakery has all kinds of treats. They also serve lunch.

Hofers is a restaurant and bakery that is a MUST-VISIT each time we go to Helen. The bakery display is on the left as soon as you walk in, and the case is filled with fresh pastries, croissants, and pretzels. We sometimes eat at the restaurant and sometimes just get boxes of pastries and leave with a fork.
This place is very authentic. You can often see the bakers in the back room rolling out the dough and mixing the fillings. We never miss to stop in for a few items.
Parking is around back.
