Howard Johnson by Wyndham Williamsburg

I saw the reviews and cringed when the wife told me where we where staying! But it wasn't at all what some of the crowd reported unfairly the place was clean !!!!
As a pin ! Yes the building has a little age on it and yes it has a indoor pool which can cause a smell every now and then but we never smelled it? I saw hard working employees everyday like clock work cleaning the common areas ! Everyone of the staff I had contact with where polite and helpful! We where there several nights enjoying bush gardens it was reasonably close to the park rooms where clean! But as some said the 1st floor back door was unlocked but we had no problem what so ever loved it

We recently had a rough experience at the hotel across the street from the Howard Johnson we are in now. We unfortunately spent the weekend in a disgusting roach motel. Walking in the Howard Johnson after the nightmare we had is like walking into a dream. Such a clean, bright and beautiful place. For the price it is so worth it. Great value, I can't express relieved and comfortable and safe I feel. I gave a four star rating for the room only because one of the drawers is missing out of the dresser. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a place to stay.

The rooms were very modern and clean! I love walking in and the vibe is right and it's just , Wow.

Really appreciate the staff and how helpful they are. Room was nice. Hall did smell of smoke but didn’t bother me.

Everything was good. Only problem was that the phone did not work.

Air conditioner was great. Bed was ok.

Hotel a little outdated. Keys didn't work to the room, had to get a different set rooms nice size clean no bugs. Staff was great price was great literally close to everything

Clean rooms, the staff cleans them meticulously, the nice Hispanic lady has been working wonders at record speed.

Anthony the guy working nights should get a promotion!!! Seriously, he has been not only helpful in a very timely manner but has handled difficult customers lined up before him. Definitely an asset to the company they should keep and reward.

Based on other reviews. Everything is open.
Just no breakfast and that's OK. Plenty of food around. No roaches all week in all 5 rooms. Hot water for every person in our 16person party. Not all ice machines worked but most did.

At the end of the day, if you are renting a room here for the price point don't complain.

Pay more for a better place instead of ruining an establishment with poor reviews when expectations should not be too high anyways.

This is an older property, but it has been maintained and updated so it's very nice! I have stayed here many times and each time has been great. The front desk staff was very nice, helpful and pleasant to talk to. Our room was clean, the bedding comfortable, the bathroom amenities are good. The quality of the towels and washcloths was good, as well. We stayed in the king room with the jetted tub and really enjoyed it.
They have a very nice breakfast available, included in the room cost - literally something for everyone! The scrambled eggs and biscuits we're hot and fresh, the sausage gravy was flavorful. You can make your own waffles, they offer juices, fruit, coffee and tea, cereals. I can and do recommend this hotel.

The Room was clean. I was close to all the stores to go shopping. I enjoyed my stay

It's a really nice hotel. It looks a lot better on the inside than it does on the outside. The staff is friendly. There's an indoor pool, a gym, complimentary breakfast, and a fridge and microwave in your room. Housekeeping does a good job with cleaning the rooms, however, the hallway could use some cleaning, the vents need to be washed, our dresser has messed up doors, and the elevators are pretty old. It's cheap, definitely more bang for your buck. I would recommend it for sure.

Howard Johnson is one of those hotel chains that is really hit or miss. Fortunately, this hotel was definitely a hit!

This hotel is very easy to get to from I-64 and is right off US 60. There is also a McDonald's, Panera Bread, Harris Teeter, and even a liquor store literally walking distance from the front door!

The hotel lobby and all common areas seems to have been tastefully renovated fairly recently, with some of the walls painted a light blue or bright orange color with old advertisements on the wall to add nostalgia and company history to the decor.

The breakfast was wonderful, with both an on-demand pancake and waffle maker as well as the other usual breakfast offerings such as eggs, biscuits, breads, yogurt, cereal, etc. There is also an indoor pool, weight room and even a sauna!

The room was noticeably the best part. It was clean, comfortable and modern. As a matter of fact, before checkout I noticed the maintenance man taking the PTAC units out of vacant hotel rooms and taking them outside to wash them out. Nothing better than clean air! The bathroom had an old jacuzzi tub which unfortunately didn't work, but was literally huge.

Every one of the staff that I ran into were all very pleasant too. Right after checkout, the manager gave me a little history about the hotel.

The only two complaints I have are that the hot water took a while to come on (it did eventually reach full heat) and the back doors are not kept locked. Granted, this isn't in a bad area but it is generally good practice to keep any side entrances locked.

Very nice place at a good rate. The ladies at the front desk were very nice and polite. Rooms were very clean. The breakfast was very filling. Didn't have a chance to swim in the pool but looked very clean. Fitness room and Sauna were great too. We definitely will be visiting again.

The staff was very accommodating and Pleasant. There was 2 repairs that needed to be addressed normal wear and tear that can happen at any time and they fixed them immediately. The beds were comfy. It's very nice after a long day out and about!The breakfast area could use some type of system to make it easier to actually get breakfast or possibly a bigger area to accommodate everyone. The dining area could be a little bigger. I was dissapointed to find the jets in the double rooms were disabled that would have been nice but I understand the reasoning. The blanket had big holes and cigarette burns. Overall we loved our stay.

We spent the day at Bush Garden's and made reservations to stay the night at this motel and it was awesome!! Some of the other review's made me a little nervous, but we had a great time!! All the Staff were very friendly and accommodating. My Kid's loved the indoor pool and we also took advantage of the fitness room. The Rooms were clean, the bed's were comfy, and I would recommend this motel to all my friend's and family. We will definitely be back, since we are annual pass holders at Bush Garden's. Two Thumbs Up!

On a very hot day. Wanting to leave our home in Md. It was sooo refreshing to be welcome by the staff so cheerfully and to ensure us that our room would be very relaxing and if there is an issue please inform them. Oh! There wasn't no complaints from us. But to say how fresh clean and lets not forget Cool. On that day it was SURELY welcome . We had the KING room check it out. The decorations is different from all the other hotels we had visit. All of this Just to say. We will be back.

All really nice, clean rooms and nice staff

We staying here at the last minute and it is just a wonderful place. The rate was the best in town. They accepted children they accept it dogs. We love their indoor pool. I would recommend it to anyone. They also had a very good breakfast the next morning

My husband and i were there for a 2 night stay . the room was clean and the bed was actually comfortable . very little noise was heard from other guest . the breakfast was good , your normal hotel stuff.the staff was nice . I will be going back for sure .

For the price, it's really a great hotel. I have stayed here many times now in the past couple of years. It's a little dirty, but it's also kind of old. I have noticed recently that true effort has been put into positve changes around the place. There is always breakfast, decent wifi, and the staff have been lovely every time. It's also a perfect distance from Busche Gardens ;D

Very friendly staff. The kids love the indoor pool. Rooms are clean and the rate is fair for our length of stay. Enjoyed the fitness room and sauna. I would recommend Howard Johnson to my family and friends.
