Red Lion Hotel Rosslyn Iwo Jima

Simple hotel that had everything I needed and nothing I didn't. Everything I wanted to do was only a bike ride away. The parking garage felt creepy at first, but at least it's there (and free!) The front desk person that checked me in late at night was very polite and helpful. Definitely coming again.

No this is not the Ritz Carlton, no I would not come here with family buuuuuuuttttt if you have or need a getaway/business trip...OMG! Please step right up, you don't need the fancy pools, the ritzy restaurants, not sure if you know this but there is a city called DC right next door that you can do all that glitz and glam at. I was skeptical about the coffee but did a half cup and actually wished I did a full one. Took advantage of the gym, nice but small. I remember seeing a review where someone said "There are no usb ports in the room" well if same said person went down to the gym and got a workout in, they would have seen the usb port to plug in their phone.

Enjoy and get the best out of this visit and my thinking is that if you are staying here or looking to stay here, you are pretty blessed to be able to be in a hotel room considering when I was taking an uber to and from DC to go to work when visiting that I was passing by tents and no there was no convention going on or new iphone but yes people sleeping in tents. So be grateful enjoy the stay if you plan to if not, there are plenty of $350+ hotel stays in the great city of DC.

Great location out of some of the hustle and bustle of downtown DC. We found our room was a good price without the extras. Parking was free and felt safe. Don't expect in room coffee, ice, or breakfast. There was a microwave and fridge which suited our needs fine. The room was a little dated, but the towels and bedding were very comfortable and luxurious.

Great value for money to be within walking distance of Arlington cemetery & US Marine Corps statue, and only 4.5km to Lincoln Memorial.

Also 10min walk to nice restaurants in Arlington or metro tube station to go anywhere within the city with a $13 day ticket

Very nice staff. Rooms clean and fresh. LOTS of places nearby. Primo location! No brekkies but their coffee is wonderful! They remove it though too early. It's 32 degrees outside at 3pm and I really would love a cup from the lobby! No coffeemaker in the room.
Our room faced a wooded area nd we watched a red fox play around in the woods for about an hour. He/she was beautiful! Here is a pic,!

Close to public transport, friendly staff. They agreed to let me park my car after checkout for a few hours as well as store my luggage in their office for a few hours. They have coffee machine in morning kept in lobby and filtered water machine is available all the time in the lobby. Location is good.

I enjoyed my stay here I didn't drive to DC so I relied on the subway but it was a nice easy 10 minute walk to the metro for DC exploring than back to a more quiet area to rest. There's resteraunts within walking distance and even a movie theater I went to for some relaxation after walking for 3 days. Seems to be a far better deal than anything in DC so it's a win win.

I got extra towel when requested and I don't like service in room while I'm out adventuring so, room service was good, room was clean no weird smells even when I turned ac off for a few hour. The shower water pressure is better then my own house so zero complaints! No drainage problem! Easy access to a few local restaurants and the Lyft or Uber to nearby places was fantastic and quick and inexpensive due to how close we are to the mall area of DC.

Pellet ice available in the lobby. In the words of Metallica, nothing else matters. Five stars.

To start off with, I’m a clean, freak, I mean a clean freak! By reading the past reviews, I was extremely hesitant. Once I opened the door to our room, I was relieved! And my room was very clean no smells!
If I were to read this going by my standards, I would say definitely an 8.7, signed stressing over nothing!!!😀👍

Top quality price ! It's clean, AC works, bathroom is clean, beds are comfy and.... Free coffee each morning! Also free parking and right next to Arlington or 10$ Uber away of main DC museums. What else do you want ????! Each you want all the useless "luxury" and downtown just triple the Red Lion and go !

We stayed during spring break , rate was a bit higher than their listed rate now but still reasonable compare to other accomodation in this season.
Bed is comfy, we had two double beds.
Bathroom is extremely clean and water is strong and temperature control works well
They had almost everything packed in a good space use, working desk extra big chair, 4-drawer dresser, plenty of linens, iron and board etc
Very quiet and no running sound on hall or from next door room
Nice morning coffee near front desk
Laundry machine available but you need your own coin
Front desk is helpful and all hotel staff I met with was nice
Plenty space to park ( i didn’t use the parking though)
8-10 mins walk in tree shade to Rosslyn Metro. Rosslyn is a great station with 3 color lines train and many bus stops. Around this station is target, many dining option both affordable $ and $$ . And especially beautiful clean Arlington neighbourhood with outdoor public dining chairs and table. Dont forget to visit The view of DC which is just opposite the metro on MacDonald side.

Cons:
- no coin exchange available for doing laundry (other hotels offer them at front desk). There is a coin machine at Safeway grocery 10 mins walk away.
- my working desk has big executive chair which couldnt be tucked under the desk hence occupy space and make us difficult walk to our bed. I suggest replace this chair as the room is well sized for us an asian family but would be small for others

I was reading the reviews and thinking do I want to try this place or pay more to stay at a more well know establishment? In my honest opinion, I'm glad I took a chance and stayed there!

The staff was friendly and helpful, especially the nice lady in the morning! She was very knowledgeable and helpful with directions to various places to visit.

If you're looking to waste money on a high end hotel because you can, then this is not the place for you! It is an older hotel, but it is well maintained. The rooms were nice for the price. The beds were a little smaller than I was expecting but I still got a good nights rest.

So your asking yourself, "but would he stay there again?" Well let me answer that question for you, HELL YES, I would stay there again when visiting the DC / Alexandria area!!

Give 'em a chance, you won't be disappointed!

Centrally located to Arlington Cemetery the room was quiet 🤫 we walked everywhere to the Metro several times and also to local restaurants. We had absolutely no problems with our room for 5 days. Iwo Jima Marine Corp monument is very close by 10 minute walk and another short walk to Arlington Cemetery another 10 minutes. The Metro Rosslyn is close by a short 10 minute walk. Free parking in courtyard or parking garage. King Size comfortable bed and good coffee in the morning. Rhodeside Grille was a good Pub and restaurant we ate there twice just up the hill a few blocks. Lots of people walking and biking in the Area. I would definitely stay here again.

No breakfast here, but the parking is free. You can't beat that in this area!
There is a fridge and a microwave in my room. Everything is pretty typical for this kind of hotel, except the soaps and shampoos. They are very high quality!

They like to pretend the are lots of things in walking distance, but they don't bother to mention that's walking uphill. The metro station is less than 10 minutes away on foot (uphill).

I've stayed here three times now. There's really nothing to complain about.

Everything was almost perfect. Nice, clean room where everything worked. The bed was a little soft but OK. Staff was super. The restaurant, Ledo's, was a big hit. We didn't have to pay extra for parking. The hotel was within walking distance of the metro station, the USMC memorial, and Arlington Cemetery. Easy access to and from the highway. My family had a great time and that's all that matters. We will definitely stay here next time we're in the DC area.

Staff were very nice and accommodating. we arrived around 10 am which is way too early for check in (3 pm) but they still let us in our rooms anyway since it was ready! The rooms are average size and have a microwave and a fridge. The beds were comfy. Their shower was a little wierd. The water pressure is a little intense. It felt like someone was squirting a huge water gun at me. Overall the stay was pretty good. The hotel is in a nice quiet area. Nothing much to see here. There's a pizzeria restaurant right across from it (they serve breakfast too!) and all other restaurants, stores, and the metro are about a 10 minute walk from there. We came here for the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC and to see all the monuments of course! Since the hotel is so close to the metro station it only took about 15-20 minutes to get to the national mall (including walking to the station).

The hotel staff was incredibly friendly, and even gave us a gift bag after our late arrival with waters, granola, and Doritos (we were the guest of the day, a rewards perk we did not know about previously). The room is small but comfortable, the air conditioning is a welcome relief from the warm days and works well. The room is clean and there is a fridge and microwave, and despite reviews we read before coming, we have plenty of access to outlets as the lamps in the room have outlets at the base. Very friendly staff and great location, we don't have a vehicle and it has been easy to get around with metro/taxis/Uber/walking.

Great budget hotel. Very clean and well-maintained. Excellent location. The only problem is TV. TV hardware itself is OK but the cable is not digital, so the image quality is very poor.

Honestly can't complain much! Pretty clean, ample parking, room didn't smell like smoke at all (unlike in many smoke free rooms), free coffee in the mornings, great shower pressure (just don't crank it too much), and a short drive from all the main spots in DC despite the cheap price. The only thing I would mention is our beds were not very comfortable, but everything else and low price made up for it.
