The Narrows Steakhouse

Was told I had to try this place as my sister had one of the best steaks of her life here. Side note she has traveled a lot and eaten a lot of nice meals. My girl friend and I had an appetizer salad and two entrees. The majority was good however one of her scallops was a little undercooked. The real star was the bison ribeye that I ordered. It was the best steak my girlfriend has ever had and one of my top 10 steaks I have had. We happened to go in on Sunday and there was one server (Matt if I recall) and he did an excellent job with the five tables he was working as the only server. Thw support staff also did a wonderful job as well. Overall we were satisfied with the while experience.

Lovely place to have dinner. If you can get a seat next to the window so you can take in the view of the lake. Tables and chairs are very comfortable to tuck in to and enjoy dinner and drinks with your loved one. Jordan was amazing! She was hugely attentive and accommodating! So much fun to chat with as we went along in our dinner adventure. At the end of the night she remembered that we had two poodles we were taking our leftover steaks home to as a special treat. She drew the cutest poodle on our take out box! Such a beautiful touch! We will be back! Thank you Jordan for being so fantastic!!!!

I ate here with a friend while staying at the Shore Lodge. We had a reservation on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. Our server was friendly and attentive. The bread service was tasty. I got a Caesar salad, and my friend had the lobster bisque, both were delicious. We split a larger steak as we didn't want to have leftovers in our hotel room, our waiter had no problem with this and even had the kitchen split it onto 2 plates for us. The steak was great and cooked well. We skipped dessert but they do offer sorbet between courses as a palate cleanser which is always a nice touch. If I was ever back in McCall and wanted a steak, I would absolutely come here again.

Great food, cool environment through bit to crowded/little space for my taste. Nice view, pretty good service.

They also have bread, thats pretty good for US. Prices are higher, but you get some small tasters in between included at no extra cost. I wish they offered non-US steak meat.

I tried salmon and it was great. Desert was interesting.

Wow!! The Narrows blew my mind. The food was amazing, the ambiance and views were incredible and our server, Bart, was great. We had a fantastic view and meal. I am so glad I found this restaurant. The French Onion Soup and Surf and Turf were out of this world. Highly recommended for that special occasion!!

Our waitress Jordan was absolutely delightful! She was so fun to chat with, checked in on us just the right amount, and recommended amazing items. The steakhouse overall is amazing. The availability of upscale items, and the additional intermittent added delights (amuse Bouche and palette cleanser) were very much appreciated. Overall, we had a great time with great service and amazing foods.

Great place for a romantic meal or getogether! Warm atmosphere with dim lighting. Great view over the lake. Really cool retro table and chairs. Very well kept and clean! Then the service!! Forget his name, but he is an uncle and had his nieces bow on his tie. He was fabulous! Attentive, engaged in conversation, gave great suggestions....overall 10. It definitely helped that the food was an overall 10! Prime cuts of good steak! Sides and drinks were creative and delicious! We will be back every time we visit! Definitely worth the price! Thank you for a great night, especially after 5 prior nights and being disappointed by McCall restaurants! The Narrows in right on par with Aqua by El Goucho in Seattle and Masteoes Ocean Club in Ft. Lauderdale. Those are my favorite places for fancy date!

If you find yourself in beautiful McCall Idaho, treat yourself to this place! Probably the most enjoyable meal I’ve ever sat down to. Had the rib-eye, worth every penny. The lamb chops were on point! Our waiter Christopher was extremely knowledgeable about wine and very friendly.

Very rustic steakhouse located in the Shore Lodge, The Narrows will not disappoint! Amazing food, great drinks and top notch service makes this the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or a great day.

Wow, did we love our meal at The Narrows. Our waiter, Spencer, was great. We treated ourselves to a beautiful bottle of Ridge Monte Bello and feasted on lobster, ribeye and some lettuce concoction my wife ordered known as a "salad." We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The wine, the food, the atmosphere, the service... everything was 5 star. We'll be back, no doubt about it.

We had an incredible evening. Was a great selection of wines, and amazing atmosphere and we had a very knowledgeable wait staff who gave great recommendations and information about each steak. They were quick to keep our glasses topped, and the timing between dishes was perfect. We spent 2 hours+ and didn’t feel rushed. I had the dry aged New York and it was amazing! If we come back to McCall we are certainly going to be back. And yes, it’s fine dining and a bit spendy, but the service and flavors matched the price.

Second time eating here last night and absolutely EXCELLENT. Bart was our waiter both times and he is extremely good at his job. The food really is worth the price and they work to make the experience a good one. When our potatoes came out lukewarm, they immediately replaced them with no attitude or concern (which I’m not used to seeing in Idaho). A first class establishment that I’m sure I’ll be spending more time in

Highly recommend!!! My husband and I stayed at the Shore Lodge for a couple nights after we got married and we decided to splurge on this restaurant. We asked our waiter what he recommended, and he gave us some options and then said OR I could ask you a few questions and then just surprise you… whaaaat?! We chose that option and were not disappointed! I literally had the best meat I’ve ever had. My filet mignon was cooked perfectly. They know what they’re doing there. It’s expensive, but for a honeymoon getaway.. well worth it!! Oh also, if you get a steak they let you pick your own special knife that you get to use!

Had a birthday dinner here and we all enjoyed it. Steaks were cooked perfectly. I had a filet mignon which I also ordered along with the truffle butter which came melted on top and the chimichurri sauce on the side. I put the chimichurri sauce across the top in a nice thing layer once the butter melted and it might be the best steak I have ever had. The combo of the butter and sauce on a well cooked cut of steak was like eating candy. I honestly could not stop until it was gone.

For appetizers before that, we has scallops and the Brussels sprouts. I think there was a balsamic glaze in the Brussels sprouts that gave it a unique taste. Scallops were large and well cooked.

Sides with dinner we had truffle Mac and the asparagus. The truffle Mac wasn’t as good as we have had at other places, but OK. Asparagus came with a poached egg and they were cooked just right.

We had a couple of cocktails to start and a few bottles of wine. Corkage is $20 a piece. The will not open a bottle of wine if it is on their wine list. I was very surprised by the selection on the wine list. It is super extensive and has all of the big CA and WA red wines. We brought a Leonetti Sangiovese having not seen it else where, but they had it!

Service was professional and consistent with guidelines a Sommelier would learn. The other servers were quick to refill waters, bring replacement silverware etc. Everyone was polite, sociable and pleasant.

They had a lot of different steak cuts which is great. No Waygu or anything, but many large steak cuts. The Filet Mignon was 8oz and actually one of the cheapest steaks on the menu.

Long story short, we recommend and will return when we come back to McCall.

A quiet, private evening above the moonlit shore of Payette lake can be yours! I went here with my wife for New Year's and it was fantastic; easily some of the better lobster bisque I've had. I had the ribeye, my wife the New York. Both were well- marbled cuts cooked to our liking (one would hope, for the price) though the real star here are the sauces they produce on the side; they are all unique, find one to your liking! The atmosphere was one that was professional, classy, and all around tip-top. Simply put, wonderful.

Best place in McCall great service and wonderful steak selection. Sides were excellent and I had the best Old Fashion i have had!

I had a fantastic experience! From the amazing view of the lake, to the excellent service and menu items.
