Holiday Inn Express & Suites Solana Beach-del Mar, an IHG Hotel

After all the bad reviews I seen, I can’t give it a bad review I had room 320 smelled very clean when we walked in as if they used a spray or candle from bath n body works ! Very clean , bed was super comfortable, has a nice small balcony area, was able to give us late check out till 12.
I would stay here again , they do charge for parking though

Love, love, loved it here! We had a big family and stayed in the double bed room with a pullout. I called ahead and asked for extra blankets and pillows but when we got there they didn't just leave them on top of the couch, they had the pullout all set up for us! What a wonderful treat for us as we got in really late! Breakfast was amazing, it was more than just continental, it's buffet style and of course the kids loved it. The pool was very nice too. The rooms are older but they are clean and beds are super soft! Great place to stay if you have a big family!

I was in town for a few days on business and ended up staying at this location instead of a hotel that was closer to San Diego. I am so glad that I did.

The breakfast was standard for your typical Holiday Inn Express and offered everything I needed to start the day. The front desk service and food staff were great, both offering me suggestions on good local places to try. The room itself was great. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and well lit, and I had no issues with hearing anything through the walls. But lets be honest, the best part of this hotel is its proximity to the beach. While you don't have a view of the ocean from the rooms, its only a couple of blocks to a beach access point. From there you have a great length of shore going both north and south. This hotel is also close to Solona Beach, which has plenty of places to eat and shop.

Next time I am in town, I'll be staying here!

This property was very very well maintained. The room was clean the bed and pillows were comfortable all the amenities were top notch. All the staff that I interacted with were extremely friendly and helpful respectful and polite. The location is excellent. 5 to 10 minute walk to the beach and many restaurant options. They charge $10 for parking but you can easily park on the street and save yourself the additional cost. Free breakfast is included with your stay and at the time we were there it included sausage breakfast sandwiches, Oatmeal cereal yogurt coffee cinnamon rolls another vanishes. This is a great location and great value with a great staff and clean, well-kept property. The bathroom products in the shower were excellent quality with wonderful fragrances.

Great hotel with perfect location, free breakfast, car Parking facilities (16$ per night) and staff are friendly.

The rooms were pretty big but TVs were really small. Internet speed isn’t great for free Wifi - 5-6 Mbps at max.

The beds were really comfy and fresh air on their balcony rooms are helpful to breathe the salt filled ocean air. Overall no complaints.

The best place to stay by far. Francisco the maintenance man was incredible with keeping up with the place. Breakfast was far better then anywhere else I've stayed in the past. Worth every penny.

Excellent stay at this location. This was my 1st time staying at a Holiday Inn Express and Suites. The building from the outside looks a little dated but nice. Inside is fine with a modern bright entrance. Both check in and out were a breeze. I even arrived about 45 minutes early without any problem. The beach is about 3 blocks away because of limited entrances to the beach. Be prepared, the closest entrance has 119 steps going down to the beach. There is one with a ramp about a good 15 minute walk from the hotel. Breakfast is included in the morning in a spacious breakfast room that has limited seating currently, plus they do open up seating in the pool area which is right off to the side. There are eateries around the area and a farmers market on Sundays. The rooms have microwaves and fridges and I believe most have balconies.

Halfway through my stay here and I'm very impressed. If this is really considered a 2 star hotel it's got to be on the upper end of that. I reserved online for same day check-in for a very reasonable rate. Check in was lighting fast and smooth. Easy enough to navigate the property, and nice clean premises and rooms. Beds and pillows were comfy for me, linens and towels much softer than 99% of 2 star hotels. Lots of tv channels. Breakfast is a couple steps above standard continental with bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and pancakes that all tasted decent. Can't forget to mention the excellent location, just a 5 minute walk to the famous del mar dog beach. Overall very satisfied so far :)

This hotel is a gem! First of all, the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. They made us feel like family! The hotel breakfast was excellent, even though it was a grab and go. Lots of choices, food was fresh, and they were generous with what they gave you (I've never eaten so much breakfast in my life!). The rooms were nice and comfortable. They did give us an upgraded room since we're Platinum members, which was a lovely surprise. The beds were so cozy! More comfortable than some of the 4 star hotels I've stayed at. They're located in a great location with sleepy coastal vines and the beach was easy access. All of San Diego was easy to get around as they are close to a freeway entrance as well. You get the best of both worlds here. The only thing that I didnt like was that there was no ocean views (but that's not the hotel's fault as a huge complex was built behind them). I also have a medical alert dog, and they were so accommodating and helpful with all we needed. We did have one issue with a "service dog" that growled and lunged at us for no reason (something that no real service dog would do) while walking through the hall to get to our room. But they were quick to resolve the issue to ensure our safety. I have stayed at many hotels, and this one stands out to me as a hidden gem. We will be back, and telling all our friends to stay here.

I stayed here the other night and was so happy I picked this place. Here are the 10 reasons why they easily deserve a 5 star.

1. Eugene at the front desk was so nice and accommodating. I came in late and he immediately took care of me with a room key, a vitamin water, and late check out. Thank you so much!

2. My room and bathroom were spotless.

3. The balcony is huge and very private.

4. It was a 10 minute walk to the beach.

5. The neighborhood is so quiet with a friendly atmosphere.

6. The lobby and layout of the hotel was cozy and chill. Nice colors.

7. Free breakfast. But no eggs, oh boo. That's ok. The coffee was good!

8. The bed and blanket was super comfortable. I didn't want to get out of bed.

9. The staff member that was cleaning was really nice and greeted me.

10. The price was just right.

We were in Solana Beach for a family reunion. We had 2 rooms. We were treated very nice by all of the staff. They were friendly and accommodating at all times of the day. If we needed any thing in our rooms the staff was prompt to bring it and very nice. The rooms and hotel were clean, even though it is an older hotel. The breakfast was fabulous. They kept it very fresh and stocked all morning. The pool and jacuzzi were clean and very nice. Parking was free. We could walk to the beach, race track and around Solana Beach. We would recommend this hotel and would stay here again. Thank L Barnard

We stayed there before going to the racetrack. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was nice, bed and pillows were excelkent! Continental breakfast was also very good, will stay there again when in the area.

I can't say enough about the hotel and the staff here. Paul Philby has been truly exceptional. I travel for a living and where I stay is paramount to my career. I showed up a day early, no big deal. Need more water? Here you go. Need a good restaurant recommendation, no problem friend, here you go. For someone who travels a lot, this is ideal. The hotel is clean, all staff have been very friendly. The hotel is just steps away from an amazing beach and within a block or two of great food choices. I will stay here every time I am in SD from now on. Great job Paul, thank you for making my week better.

Wonderful staff and a very well thought out wheelchair accessible room. I loved the roll in shower and the power plugs are the base of all the table lamps which made it possible for me to plug in my electric wheelchair's charger without needing help. Delicious free breakfast in the morning also! You have to experience the self contained pancake maker for yourself! I had 3 just because it was hilarious.

I visit the Solana location every year, and I have NEVER been to a nicer place, with nicer staff, in my life. Fabricio and his team are amazing. Everyone in the hotel is a class act, from the breakfast lady to the maintenance team. The pool and Jacuzzi is amazing. I plan on visiting two or three times a year. Feel free to reach out to me! This is an overall fantastic hotel that I cannot recommend enough!

I have been staying here for the last week. I am really enjoying the hotel. The room is clean and nice. The pool was enjoyable. The hot tub was nice and hot. I haven't been able to get breakfast, but my daughter has enjoyed the pancakes. Thanks!

I definitely recommend this hotel. It was nice and clean. Quiet. Icing on the cake was tuey provide JR Watkins soaps. Seriously me skin and hair are so soft 😁. Only.complaint is the dark not sheer curtains didn't close.

One of the best if not the best Holiday Inn I stayed! Front desc is awesome! Ursula is the most helpful lady I saw as costumer!
