Sand Run Metro Park-Big Bend Area

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite locations to go for a walk or hike. Great central location for paved walking biking trails, as well as natural trails. You can connect easily to Sand run or Cascade Valley from here so you have so many options. Beautifully maintained and I love that you can see the train come through while on the tow path.

Great trail to bring pets on as well as bikes. The trail isn't paved but it's almost a sand rock. Only downfall is if there is rain, part of the trail (if you take a side leg) can be flooded but it drains fairly quickly. Also a nice spot to relax by the water on those hotter days.

Great area to start your hike on the Towpath. There's a small lake that is used for ice skating.

A tree fell in the forest and stop the train at the beginning of my visit. Love this Trail great for kids nature is so friendly. Always a great experience

My son and I had an AMAZING time on this trail. Such a scenic and relaxing trail, I would highly recommend it if you're in the area.

One of my all time favorite parks! Amazing trails, beautiful scenery and packed full of animals and nature!! There's so many activities to do, for people of all ages! Their visitor centre is one of the best I've been to.

Sand Run Park is just a great place for a walk, run, mediate and connects to bike paths all the way to Cleveland. I met a couple that came all the way trough Cali , rented a bike and took off.

Beautiful place with plenty of parking. Towpath is great for walking, running, or biking. It was a well cared for park and the trails were well marked.

Spent tonight camping there, even though it's a primitive area and no fires are available, it was a nice relaxing evening.

Check the summit metroparks website, they have a really nice primitive camping spot up on the hill for towpath users passing through

Pretty, good trails, ada accessible overlook which is pretty rare.

It is always nice to take a walk here. The trail is nice and the park is big and connects to other parks. The river and bridge is beautiful too.

Great walking trail along the old canal towpath. Well maintained paths, mostly gravel with some paved and boardwalk sections. Bathrooms every couple miles. We parked at Big Bend and walked down to Lock 15 brewery, 3 miles south, had lunch and walked back. A great way to spend a sunny day!

Very BEAUTIFUL park, with great walking paths. There is the gravel sand like path, that is very level and easy to walk, then there are the hiking paths that wrap around through beautiful scenery and they are a little more strenuous if that is what you like. The restrooms are clean and kept decent (they are put toilets). My dog and I Love this park.

Really neat metro park! There are tons of different trails. We did one lap on the parcour workout trail. It was a good 25 minute workout similar to circuit training. I can't wait to go back to explore other trails and picnic areas.

I catch the Towpath here at least once a week to ride my bike. I've rode the whole Towpath and think this is probably the most scenic area of the trail. Jump on and go North, you'll pass through Merriman Valley, then get deep into CVNP!

A wonderful nature park you can feel Gods presence all throughout. The ambience is incredible.
