Benchmark Restaurant

My boyfriend and I went for a 5 o’clock reservation, where we were seated immediately. Our waiter Mike was just amazing with the introductions, and questions with the menu! We both ended up getting the same meal, which tasted amazing! They even boxed up our meals for us to take home, which we’re not used to! Overall, we just really liked the atmosphere and we will be coming here again hoping we get Mike again!

This is an elevated "meat and potatoes" restaurant. They do steak very well, but be warned the seafood and vegetarian options are limited here. The bar is awesome here and the cocktails are excellent. They have a semi-private event room, and the decor here feels like it has history even though it is a very new building and restaurant . Just check the menu before going to make sure it is a fit for you, but the quality of food and service here will not disappoint.

I am from the UK and visited Benchmark while visiting family who moved to Ohio a couple of months ago. My brother in law took us to this restaurant, and my goodness, it was such an incredible experience. I have travelled and eaten in many restaurants around Europe, even within several regions of Italy, and I still firmly believe that Benchmark is one of, if not, the best restaurant I have ever been to in my life.

Everything was perfect. The atmosphere, the drinks, the service, the FOOD! The presentation, and the experience overall, was unforgettable. We had a lovely waitress named Savannah, if i remember her name correctly, and she was just wonderful and kind, and catered to our needs in a very professional and thoughtful manner. She clearly really enjoys her job and wanted to make us feel taken care of, which she did!

I ordered the shrimps and grits for my main course because I wanted to try foods that were regional to the area and that we don’t have in my country and it was so amazing, I truly cannot express how much I enjoyed this dish. Absolutely everything about it was just perfect. The quality of the prawns, how it was presented, the flavours, everything was very special and clearly had been prepared by an excellent chef. Also our starters were amazing, as seen in the photos, we had beef carpaccio and a prosciutto and melon salad to share between four of us. They also gave us “popovers” when we arrived which were also delicious, and rather similar to our Yorkshire puddings we have in England with a roast dinner.

For dessert our waitress recommended the bourbon cake to share which is also similar to a British classic, which we call sticky toffee pudding, an excellent recommendation because we ate it so fast!

I wanted to write this review because it was a very unforgettable night and I enjoyed it so much that I want to hop on another 7 hour flight from London just to eat here again. Whether you are a local or visitor, you must try Benchmark. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful experience!

Went to dinner with a friend tonight! Marcus was our waiter and he was great’ very friendly and helpful! Definitely requesting him again when we come back! Thank you! Always have the best time here.

I got the lamb chops with mash potatoes and grits!

I checked their menu at the door, unsure of what their menu might have. I found a wonderful variety of flavors to choose from, so I determined I must try their food.

I selected a neat double bourbon, periogies, and veal schnitzel. The periogies where wonderfully service over a perfectly sautéed cabbage with slices of sausage. Highly recommend.

The veal schnitzel had an amazingly, wonderfully seasoned breading they make. I look forward to having again.

The staff were exceptionally polite and very knowledgeable on their menu and food.

The beet salad was great. The French onion soup was the best I’ve ever had!!!

I’ve searched the nation far and wide for a quality meal. I don’t take it lightly when I say this is one of the best restaurants.

All of the menu items have been carefully designed, perfected and crafted.

Great use of a variety of ingredients. Well prepared.

One of the few places where I could pick anything on the menu and know I would be satisfied.

Cake done right. The bourbon cake was very moist and airy. A rare texture, but the perfect texture.

First visited 2 years ago or so. Always had a good impression. To get reconfirmed is a major testament to the operations of this restaurant. Very few pass the repeat test.

Also passed the two hour test. If you know you know.

Benchmark always does an amazing job, and they did not disappoint on September 15th. My now fiancé planned a wonderful evening and treated us to the butcher board. The filet and strip were cooked to perfection and the lobster tail was phenomenal. Unbeknownst to me, the entire staff was in on the plans and treated us to complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate the engagement. The staff went above and beyond to make sure the evening was one to remember, going so far as to record and take photos of the engagement as a way for us to relive the evening for years to come. The dessert was amazing too! The food, ambiance and staff were so incredible, we went to Claude’s Seafood, Benchmark’s sister restaurant to celebrate my birthday this year! We love the Benchmark team!

I was fortunate to have the wonderful experience of dining here last evening for a work related function. Everything I ate was nothing short of exemplary! Absolutely the best steak I have ever eaten (I had the Ribeye.)
Everything was as unique as it was delicious. My only regret is that they do not have a location where I live in Philadelphia. Wonderful atmosphere and attentive staff as well. Do not hesitate if you have the opportunity to dine here.

Ate here for our anniversary and it did not disappoint!! The staff was super friendly and even treated us to a complimentary dessert for an anniversary gift! We shared the butchers board dinner for 2 that had the 21oz ribeye, lobster tail and filet mignon and it was absolutely delicious!! Will definitely be back the next time we're in town!

Had a great meal this past evening. The food was excellent. I highly recommend the whipped feta appetizer. The main entree was a 16oz Prime Ribeye medium-rare and prepared to perfection. The Seabass was also big hit for the other members of the party. Very nice atmosphere and comfortable seating and table arrangements. I will add though my only negative would be the volume of the room and as other reviewers have noted not expected. Overall, top of the list for fine dining in the Toledo-Perrysburg area.

When you think of fancy restaurants in the Toledo area, benchmark should truly be on that list. It’s fancy, with a high end menu and impressive cocktail menu, and that makes it a date-night or celebratory dream.

We started with the whipped feta, and it was probably the best appetizer I’ve shoved into my mouth in ages. Just divine, and I don’t even like feta that much. It was salty and savory, and the bread was addictive as all get out.

Also delightful were the thick cut bacon slices in syrup.

I opted for the 6oz filet with horseradish sauce, and it was cooked perfectly medium rare. There were no survivors.

My Parmesan fries were also so lovely they didn’t make it all the way home in the box before we drove right back in.

It’s nice to have options outside of downtown Toledo for a romantic evening out, and I love seeing spots like Benchmark rise to the occasion.

From the walk in the door until the walk out it was an amazing experience! Friendly and attentive staff, phenomenal drinks, exceptional food! Bacon appetizer tasted amazing! Filet was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Blackened Salmon melted in my mouth. I seriously cannot recommend Benchmark enough !

We were pleasantly surprised by our dining experience. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We got the featured appetizer with steak on ciabatta with arugula and it was amazing. I got the lamb rack dinner and had enough for leftovers. Fredy got the sea scallops and truly enjoyed them. I’m not a scallop fan but they were good. Next time will definitely try the steak dinner (the slices on our appetizer were on point). Everything is locally sourced and made fresh. The drinks are fun and unique. And the bread starter (included) was some of the best we’ve had - fluffy, warm and flavorful and perfectly paired with whipped butter.

I thought Season 52 has the best pork chop, until I had Benchmarks.

Nice steak place. If you had their brussel sprouts before, just know that they will be coming back onto the menu. I had the butternut squash risotto which paired wonderfully with the balsamic reduction drizzle. They serve popovers with your entree. I also tried the Love/Hate mocktail; an interesting blend of grapefruit juice and pickle juice that was balanced just right to be able to taste them both.

I had a wonderful time here! The service was impeccable. A date and I each got an entree and then we shared with one another. We got a crab cake, sea bass, and the 12 ounce filet. Everything was OUTSTANDING. The rolls were mouth watering! The steak was one of the best I've ever tasted! The cocktails came kind of slow but it hardly mattered in the scheme of things. They were also great. I love that the design is so open but it does make it louder. It also makes it feel bustling and vibrant so that was easy to overlook. I just wouldn't go here if I wanted to have intimate conversation during dinner. I had to get a picture of the meal of the gentleman next to me since it looked so delicious!

This was my first visit to this establishment and let me tell you my server was excellent she was amazing. I’ve never received service so professional and passionate about the food and suggestions she gave was awesome. I will definitely be back 5 stars for sure for Tiffany at Benchmark she is awesome.

Food is absolutely beautiful and fantastic, service is excellent. The servers are so quick to attend to you, they take care of you before you even think to ask for anything.

The atmosphere is great. You definitely get what you pay for here. This is in the top 3 nicest restaurants in the Toledo Area in my opinion.
