This is a great walk that I highly recommend. Low traffic trails (I was the only car there) with a few historic old barns by the trailhead. Dogs are allowed on leash. The trail is a relatively short loop through fields and woods, and has an offshoot that leads down to the Hudson River. The overlook itself offers a beautiful view.

The trailhead was marked clearly and a map was on the front info board. So I started walking down the trail from an amazing old red barn and got confused when I couldn’t even tell where the trail went. I circled back and started again, this time cutting through what looked to be no more than a deer trail through waist high weeds. I wasn’t even sure this was the official trail at this point. However. There was a man on a tractor mowing when I started and on my way back, I noticed the trails had been cut clearly in big swaths through the grasses. So I think my timing was just bad as far as that goes. I did find my way to the access road and more traditional gravel/rock trails through the forest to the river’s edge. Lovely views. Aside from one moderate hill, I would say it’s a fairly gentle hike. I must say other than the trailhead marker and one sign about birds, I never saw any flares/markers or signs showing me the various named trails shown on the map and showing me I was still on the trails. That would be a great addition.

Nice distant views of the Hudson Valley and Taconic Ridge beyond the eastern shore. Trails are nicely manicured and easy to walk.

This is a nice short scenic hike through grasslands and forest. It's pretty easy with a moderate hill down to the water. I went on a weekend in august and only saw 1 other person. There is a map in the beginning of a few different loops and it was pretty clear where the trail was. However only rated it 4 stars because there are no trail markers. Where two trails intersect I have to guess which one goes down to the water and which one leads me back to the car. It's not like you'll be lost forever but there should be some sort of marker, even if it's a small red dot on a tree, to distinguish different trails. Overall though I would recommend it as an easy, peaceful walk.

Very nice views. Some of the paths are quite steep, and nearly all are simply grass. So would not recommend after a recent rain. But overall, worth the walk around.
