Kindred Hospital was a great experience. The team at Kindred help me overcome my fears during. recovery and encouraged me. all along, and I've lost a lot of weight and have become healthier because of it. Mary and Diane in the physical therapy department really helped me improve my endurance and walking. They stuck with me throughout the entire ordeal. And now I'm walking where I was bedridden three months ago. Jason and Monica in respiratory therapy was always there for me at every turn of need and call bell ringing. No matter what the occasion. They would show up and help me, or find someone who could help me. Monica even brushed out my hair once for. me. And put them in ponytails. What I can say the most about this hospital is that all the team members help each other out. It doesn't matter when your call light is on. Somebody's going to answer it, and then. if they can't help you, if it's not something simple, they will find your nurse or find your CNA, and then come back and tell you when they can be expected. And that is the best quality of this hospital. In other facilities, I have been. Left to sit in soil for 5 hours. That doesn't happen here, the long. She's like an hour. And that's because they are urgently helping another patient. But they'll call you before time and let you know that they are coming. But it's not often like that normally. they come right away. Preston is the best CNA they have here. He always meets my needs before I even ask for them. He got used to my routine quick and learned what I needed. And then I never had to ask again. And that was within a few moments and days. And I had a long stay here, and everything has been great. Robert and Gladys in the food department are wonderful service people. They always are smiling. Dr Chowdhury. was encouraging. and helped me stay focused to get healthier. Jen Jason and Monica. weere my cheerleading team. Jason and Monica Answered my call bells. Making sure they could help me, and if they couldn't, they find somebody who could. Angie and Virginia. were very kind to me and treated me like a little girl, which a lot of mothering in my sense was needed. Norma was also like that. She's ACNA here. She was very kind and nurturing towards me. Lynda Was awesome. She did my hair for me, too. She always took real good care of me when she was my CNA. Rose was a sweet CNA. She knew how to take care of me just right. Missy was always fun and giggly She's another CNA That was cheerful. Thank you. Kindred Hospital for getting me to my next level. You taught me. that I can do this. and I can continue to get better where I had all lost for hope before it.

We had an excellent experience at Kindred Rahway.

Kindred allowed us to tour their facility the day before admitting Mom: everyone is super friendly, the patients are in good spirits, and the facility is very clean and well organized.

Mom was fortunate enough to have a room to herself for three weeks with a bed by a window. She enjoyed the food service, and the phone and television were easy for her to use.

The entire staff at Kindred — doctors, nurses, case manager, patient rep, PTs, techs, everybody — are kind, compassionate, and attentive.

Mom was in poor condition when she arrived from Brooklyn. Our family were extremely concerned. But with the excellent care she received, she started showing improvement immediately, starting with the care for her painful bed sores, the weening her off high-level oxygen, and getting her out of bed for rehab.

I've never written a Google review before, but I felt compelled to leave a positive review for Kindred Rahway in the hopes that it will help others make an informed decision on where to send their loved ones.

We are very satisfied here, all staff: the nursing team, doctors, and administrators are very caring and compassionate. They took care of my husband, with such care and gentleness. A special shout out to Angie, RN was wonderful, she would come in the room and know exactly what to do with a soft touch. We are very happy we ended up here at Kindred Rahway. The place and my husbands room was neat, and clean. We are very satisfied.

The staff, across the board, was incredibly kind, competent, and compassionate, despite being stretched thin. It was obvious that they were there doing their best for every patient.
Personally, I would especially like to point out Gabby in Social Work, Sam in Physical Therapy, and nurses Kevin, Nestor, and Danielle, as well as all the Patient Techs.
It is an older facility, which leads to some cramped rooms, but that is, I would hope obviously, not something the staff has any control over.
The care I received here allowed me to finally be discharged home after five months in hospital, at several facilities.

Working alongside Anastasia Chambers, the Wound Care Coordinator at Kindred, has been an absolute pleasure. I have been blessed to work with her as one of the medical students on a wound care elective that rotates at Kindred.

Her genuine compassion has shone through from the beginning, leaving an indelible mark on her patient care. Anastasia possesses an unmatched ability to forge personal connections with her patients, ensuring they feel genuinely valued and heard throughout their healing journey. The empathy she shows creates a safe and supportive environment that alleviates anxieties during what can be challenging times for patients.

I've witnessed her genuine concern for her patients, praying over them during moments of fear or pain, and sharing laughter to uplift their spirits. As a stickler for the rules, she ensures that her patients receive top-notch treatment, leaving no room for compromise when it comes to their well-being.

Anastasia possesses outstanding teamwork and leadership qualities. She is an invaluable asset to her patients, consistently going above and beyond to ensure their well-being. Anastasia fosters a collaborative and supportive work environment where doctors and medical students feel valued and empowered to thrive.

All around, amazing human.

As an Registered Nurse I wanted to write this review… Earlier this month my mother was treated here at the ER. The staff was skilled and had compassion, which was so comforting! She was later moved to a room to stay over night while the case worker worked closely with the doctor to set up all my mother’s post care treatments. Great facility! Great staff!

My husband had been in the hospital for 2 months. He had renal failure and other respiratory complications due to water retention. He was transferred to a nursing home and that was a house of horror and he ended up at Rahway Hospital again and from there he was taken to Kindred. I was reluctant but I am so grateful to the staff who was so fantastic. The ladies that clean the rooms are so good and friendly. Nurses are so respectful and attentive. The Respiratory Dr., Dialysis’ tech, Doctor Santiago the nephrologist. Preston who sings to the patients and the case manager Bobby who went above and beyond to find the best care for my husband and explained to me the complicated process and was patient enough to put it in simple terms for me to understand. Thank You and God Bless you all.

I had a wonderful experience with the care of my father at Kindred Hospital. He came in with a high dependency to the ventilator and over time is almost weaned off the ventilator 100%. The staff were caring, generous and knowledgeable and provided the highest level of care for my father. I recommend this facility 100%.

The health care providers at Kindred Hospital were very professional, informative and compassionate during a very precarious time, as it relates to my mother's health. My mother arrived at Kindred following an intensive, prolonged acute stay at a local hospital, and did so with a myriad of health concerns. The care at Kindred calmed our anxieties and made for a pleasant inpatient stay for mom.

My family and I were aware of the quality of care given at Kindred Hospital because my uncle was a patient there in 2008. So as a family, Kindred was the logical choice for my mother, when it was determined that she needed to recover in a long term acute care facility. Again, Kindred Hospital proved to be a facility with compassionate and caring personnel.

I highly recommend Kindred because all those persons caring for my mom helped her to recuperate to the best of her ability. Her recuperation was completed in an environment that was conducive to healing. A very special thank you to Maria Fernandez, Patient Relations Representative who always went above and beyond to greet my brother and I while visiting our mother, and consistently inquired if we were doing okay, along with ascertaining if anything additional needed to be done with mom. She also always spoke to my mother in a warm tone and with a sincere smile. Her kindness will always be remembered by us.

Bringing my father to Kindred Hospital was the best decision. The facility is top notch and the staff as well. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help. They always have a smile on their face and if anything they are easy to contact if you have any questions or want updates regarding your loved ones.I live in NYC and the thought of leaving my father all the way in New Jersey was hard for me but once I walked in I knew he was in good hands and I feel very comfortable having him there. I would recommend this facility to anyone.

" Highly Recommend & Million Thanks"

My dad stayed at Kindred for more than two weeks after an abdominal surgery at JFK Medical
Center. He became non-ambulatory, confused, and sometimes agitated as complication from his illness/surgery. The staff at Kindred made it easier for him and for us, family members, to deal with such difficult situation. The nurses were very "attentive" and "helpful".
Maria Fernandez, the patient relations representative was always there to answer all our questions and guide us through the process from admission to his discharge. The physical therapy staff were so excellent and helped my dad, got out of bed and walk again.
The nurse manager Susan Mitoo made sure everything was ok especially for my mom who
stayed most of the time with my dad.
I would definitely "HIGHLY RECOMMEND" Kindred Hospital New Jersey - Rahway
to my family , friends and whoever want their sick loved ones to heal quickly and recover
with care and respect.

TRULY IMPRESSED !!! compared to the other hospital services.
Once again, Million Thanks !!! - KINDRED HOSPITAL NJ - Rahway

My ex is currently hospitalized at Kindred, where she has received intensive care since being recovered weeks ago – I've been visiting her weekly and, from the first time, I've appreciated how attentive and professional the staff is, from nurses to P.T. specialists and patient managers I've met, who compassionately and positively assist and encourage people in their rehabilitation.
Even when walking around hallways and looking for rooms or elevators, I've always had staff members who'd stop and ask me if I needed help with anything, so be glad to know that your own family member is being taken good care of as well.

My son was transferred from JFK Hospital and spent 5 weeks at Kindred and we would love to thank all of the staff for taking such good care of him. I was able to return back to work knowing that he was in good hands and he was being well taken care of. He is well on his way to a full recovery and he could not have done it with out the help of all of you. I would recommend your place to anyone! We will miss all of you!!!!

Our family member was recently discharged from Kindred Hospital after being weaned off of a ventilator. This weaning process was complicated because of prior reoccurring complications. Despite this, the doctors, nurses, certified nurse assistants, respiratory therapists and everyone else involved in her care were relentless in their determination to successfully treat her medical issues and wean her from the ventilator.
During her stay our loved one and we were treated with the utmost compassion by the staff. They were friendly, caring and informative. To them we extend our sincere thanks and gratitude, with a particular acknowledgement to Maria, the patient representative, who was always available to assist us with information or getting our questions answered.

With only one LTAC facility in NY, I decided to choose Kindred for my dad's care, even though I knew it would be more work to see him since we reside in Brooklyn. I am grateful for all the staff at Kindred. My dad was successfully weaned off the vent and was taken care of by so many dedicated, professional staff members. Everyone was welcoming and very friendly. I started to feel like part of a family since I was there almost everyday visiting my dad. I want to give a special thanks to Donna, Lance, Denise, and Marie for taking such good care of my dad. I always knew my dad was in good hands when he was under their care. My dad was also receiving PT by very knowledgeable and motivating staff members. Shout out to Terri and Raymond for providing fabulous PT for my dad. I also want to thank Maria Fernandez who is the patient rep for always checking in on my dad and always offering a smile. I already miss having my dad here and miss all the great care that he received. This facility is definitely an amazing facility to have your loved ones. My dad also had an amazing Pulmonologist (Dr. Remolina) and Cardiologist (Dr. Alioskopour (Not sure the spelling of his name). Thank you to all the staff at Kindred, I am forever grateful!

My Dad spent almost 8 weeks in Kindred. In that time my Dad and our family were treated with the utmost respect and professionalism by the Kindred staff. Whenever I entered the facility I was recognized and given a smile and by the end of my Dad’s stay almost everyone knew of my Dad ‘s status and had updates for me before I even reached his room. The nurses at Kindred are very coordinated and always communicated with each other to make the decisions that best benefited my Dad in the precarious situation he was in. The right foot always knew what the left hand was doing, and that is rare in the medical profession. Nurse Manager Patricia really runs a tight ship, and she herself also personally answered questions I had and assisted me when I had concerns. I found that both the physical therapists and the respiratory nurses went above and beyond to help get my Dad in a position where he was ready to move on to the next part of his treatment. There are so many people to thank for their hard work that I’m sure I will forget some and there are some I never had the pleasure to meet or talk to. From the physical therapy staff: Denisse and Carmel. From the respiratory staff: Erika, Sanjiv, Carolina, and Marie. From the nursing staff: Cindy, Angie, Joesphine, Darlene, Michelle, Mitch, Carol Anne, Ruchi, Donna, Kelly, Janette, Maria, Amada, Theresa, Carolynn, Lorraine, Eva, Caesar, Sue, Bohdan, Cerite, Debbie, Melissa, Judy, and Jessie. From social service/admissions: Margaret, Ana, Maria, and Thomas.

My only real complaint about Kindred is that the doctor staff is not very communicative (except for cardiologist Dr. Patel), as the doctors don’t prefer to talk to patients, each other, or even doctors that had dealt with my Dad in the past. I gave the doctor handling my Dad’s case the number of my Dad’s PCP, and the Doctor at Kindred never once reached out to them, even when my Dad had a heart issue and the PCP’s husband that has worked with my Dad is also a cardiologist. I know that the doctor also didn’t look into my Dad’s past medical history as towards the end of my Dad’s stay he asked me a couple of questions that could have simply been answered by looking at his past medical history with the PCP. I also found that the other doctors involved in my Dad’s case (orthopedic, neurologist, cardiologist, pulmonologist) didn’t coordinate well with each other, as one doctor often didn’t know what the other one was doing. I only spoke with my Dad’s main doctor at Kindred 5 times, twice in person and three times over the phone, and though he was very respectful I found I had to ask specific questions to get information. The first time I spoke with him on the phone I got that impression when he basically told me “if there is anything important to tell you, I will call”; however there were a few occasions when there were important events, and he did not call me. I had to call him to find out specific information. This was true of all the other doctors involved except for Dr. Patel. I had to reach out to them to get specific information; it was never offered to me personally or even over the phone without me initiating contact. Thank goodness the nursing staff is so caring and proactive, as they were always the first to contact me whenever a situation arose out of the ordinary. The nursing staff almost always gave me specific information (when allowed) as to how my Dad was doing and what the future plans were in terms of his treatment. They really keep the ship sailing high and are the true caregivers at Kindred.

I would most certainly recommend Kindred to a family member or friend. Though doctor communication is lacking, the nursing staff more than makes up for it with their knowledge, communication, personality, and professionalism. They made my Dad and my family feel at home in their facility, and we will forever be grateful to them for helping my Dad recover and move on to the next stage of his healing.
