Guitar Center

Went in with my 6 year old son and zero knowledge of guitars. The enthusiasm of the employee (Vinny) was contagious and my little one walked out with his first electric guitar and accessories.

He can’t wait to start his lessons.

I rarely leave reviews but did feel the need to mention how well I was treated by the staff at the Guitar Center in Albany, NY. You see I am in a treatment center and have my guitar but needed some maintenance tools. Jake, Neil and Max all worked very well with me to get my items together and make some good decisions that I couldn’t make myself being that I cannot leave the treatment facility. I was able to prepay and have a friend that was visiting me pick up the items and drop them off. Thanks guys!

I just needed some strings. The place is as good as ever. It's full of great guitars and all the other kinds of equipment.

Ended up purchasing my first guitar from here. Seems to have a good mix of both entry level and more advanced guitars. The staff is pretty knowledgeable on how to fit a guitar to an individual. Would recommend looking for amps around on the internet before, as they didn't have a huge selection of smaller, budget amps, and the small ones can easily be shipped. Also the coverage for the guitar even covers destroying the guitar, so that's a plus.

Nearly 60 years old when I found this weird guitar curbside, never played or even held a real guitar before, within a few minutes, I found/ discovered one finger chords, got bit by the guitar bug, wanted one but had no money for one, so I did what I never do (window shop), I went to guitar center to look around. I was honest with them, told them that I was poor and not going to buy anything, showed them this weird guitar and told them why I was there. The guy who fixes guitars was cool, he took time and showed/ taught me some things about guitars. I wanted a guitar real bad, but as I said, I couldn't afford one, just so happens they had a used guitar that was very very cheap, but still more than what I had, they worked with me, set my guitar up, new string tuning, gave me some picks, had my first real guitar. Went back nearly 2 years later to get a snark, a strap and more pics, learned that my guitar had become damaged and not safe to play (bridge separating from body). So now I'm back to square one, No guitar to play. But they were not having that, they refused to let me leave without a guitar, with the tiny amount of money that I had, I left with a much better guitar, these guys worked magic with allowable price reductions and I suspect that several of them (workers) chipped in on it and the things that I came for. Never met a store with people this cool before or since. When time comes to purchase my dream guitar, I'm definitely going back to Guitar Center to get it. Thank you Guitar Center!!!

We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. Greg was knowledgeable, answered all of our questions and took awesome care of us.

This is a very high quality store, with great products and Great professional employees, extremely knowledgeable and helpful, especially Tony, who has the drum expertise that is tremendously Valuable to me as I’m purchasing equipment and building my new percussion setup - so much thanks

This is definitely the best customer service that I've ever received at a GC store in my life, and I've been a regular customer since it opened in my Buffalo, NY area in 1999.
Adam Fredette, one of this location's store managers, was the one who took care of me when I stopped in at this store, and he couldn't have been any nicer.
High marks for this store, and if you are even passing through this area, I would highly recommend stopping in!

I love the people that work here. I've had nothing but a five star experience with the staff and their selection and knowledge of products is excellent. I can always count on this guitar center to brighten my day and propel me forward with my music. The used gear that comes through is a noteworthy reason to stop by as well. Check them out!

Edit: Went back after a rough experience. Management offered to have the guitar assessed by their expert tech to remove the buzz leftover from shipping from the manufacturer. Truly a completely different experience from the moment I walked in! Staff was friendly and responsive, and I was brought right over to the guitar tech Jay who was personable and knowledgeable. In maybe 5 minutes he was finished with a quick truss tweak and the guitar buzz is gone and now I'm a believer. They made good on any expectations and the welcoming atmosphere brought be back to some great memories of how a music shop should feel. No doubt I'll be going back. Thanks Guitar Center!

Great clean place, super friendly staff!

A great experience from beginning to the final sale. Jay was very professional, and never once "pushed" into something I wasn't sure about. Price was fair, lots to choose from. Worth the hour drive for sure. After purchasing a used amp and used guitar, I found the amp to not work correctly. Which was no fault of anyone, as it worked in the store. I decided to return both amp and guitar. What an easy smooth process thanks to Dan (Mgr). I again dealt with Jay to pick out the new set up. Jay answered all of my questions with knowledge and experience. I walked out with exactly what I wanted. I'm glad to see that true customer service is still around, and especially at such a large business. A GREAT EXPERIENCE. Thank you Guitar Center for a new, lasting relationship.

A HUUUUGE shoutout to Miles D. in the Colonie, NY store. I was looking for a item that is currently low on production/availability. Miles searched other GC store inventories and then worked the phones for an extended period of time to find what I needed. The extra effort is greatly appreciated. Thanks Miles!!!!

I cannot say enough good things about Guitar Center and their excellent customer service. (I am talking above and beyond and this was before I even walked into the store!). I was just at the store in Colonie yesterday and it was a wonderful experience! A special THANK YOU to Brandon for setting up and guiding me through my new Yamaha keyboard, for helping me to "get started" again and especially for Clair De Lune! Hopefully refresher lessons are in my future! Very happy!

After ten years one of my guitars pickup broke. Jay was able to repair, tuneup and polish my guitar. Ritchie was kind enough to assist me in a purchase of a new amp. This box store has real folks working here who are kind and considerate. I highly recommend everyone to find their musical muse and augmented here, hear?

I ordered a Gibson G-45 Studio online and it came from this store. I was in contact with them throughout the process. They informed me it was the last one in their production line and it was sent to their repair shop for a neck issue. They offered me a discount for that, along with another discount because the shipping was delayed. Marc was the guy who mainly helped me. I can't recommend this store enough. I love my new Gibson!

I had a great experience at Albany, Guitar Center. All the guys were pleasant and helpful. Jordan helped me pick out my little Yamaha acoustic / electric. They searched and got me a gig bag free of charge. A pleasure

Just visited here today. Nice selection, especially of guitars (not surprisingly). Employees were attentive and considerate despite being swamped with people. Shout out to Logan especially since I worked with him for a trade in today.
