A cute little place with an interesting selection. There's prepared foods, and a variety of grocery and dried goods. Lots of vegan and locally sourced options

The contribution to community is fantastic.

Local events that are open to the public are held upstairs.

It's also a democracy for people who want to join and members can opt to work at the store for additional discounts.

I'm sure the people at the counter have a better explanation but that's what I gathered.

We like it and will be back.

I like this store a lot though I have not visited very often. The foods are natural and quite unique. Though I found that some of the foods are a little stale, perhaps because they don't have much sales volumes. But you do get things that you don't get in a ShopRite etc. The volunteer staff are very friendly and always ready to help. If they send fliers to the residents of New Brunswick we will perhaps remember to go there.

I volunteer here and I love this place! Kind people and I love chatting with all of the customers. They have all types of natural foods and John is more than helpful and very knowledgeable in basically everything you could think of. Wide selection of herbs and other grocery items.

Went here for the comedy night in the upstairs- it's every other Sunday night at 730, and is an open mic. It started at about 815 and lasted 2 hours. 8 minute time allowance per set. No cover charge, although they have a donation jar if you want to contribute.

Surprisingly, everyone was really good and funny. A lot of the humor was pretty crude so please don't go if you're easily offended. It was a very fun atmosphere, and a great place to practice your standup or just enjoy some comedy.

We did two Too Good to Go surprise bags, and had a great time picking out our produce! The guy behind the counter was so knowledgeable about produce! Definitely will be back for more soon.

Having travelled over from the U.K., and being vegan, I find it quite difficult to get good food to take to my hotel and that’s not always the same. This place had a great selection of things for me to be able to stock up. A great selection of nut butters, oats, chocolate, chips, tofu, cream cheese, yoghurt, and many types of plant based milk. Will come here every time I’m in NB for my staples and to help get me through

Love this place! It's got a great supply of vegetarian and vegan foods, a killer snack section, wide selection of bulk goods, and lots of fun events after hours. I love popping in during my lunch break or on the weekend to snag a few items. Volunteers are super friendly too. I'm so glad I found this place. I'd love to see a wider selection of cosmetic and hygiene supplies that are vegan, zero waste, etc!

My favorite shopping spot. They carry local dairy and eggs, naturally fermented foods and an amazing selection of snacks. The co-op has a large bulk goods section - grains, beans and herbs - which you can purchase in paper baggies or bring your own jars. Good food and less packaging.... love it.

I love the co-op. Not only is it an amazing little hub of natural organic produce in the middle of the rougher part of New Brunswick, but it's most amazing quality is its energy. The energy here is amazing. Sometimes I'm having a crap day and visiting the co-op literally lifts my spirits. it's the small-business personal feel larger stores like whole foods lack, which, in my opinion, makes the slightly higher prices (depending on what you buy) worth it. To be honest, the prices are reasonable and what you would expect to pay anywhere...this is organic stuff, after all. Become a member!!!! I totally believe in and support this organization.
Also, the produce is sort of a gamble but just know they get everything on Wednesday and Friday ; try to come around those times and they should be fully stalked with interesting stuff!!!!!!

I love shopping at and being a volunteer cashier at the George Street Coop! Everyone here is so nice and has great energy. The manager, John, is an amazing human being to work with and is extremely dedicated to the Coop and its volunteers and members. You learn incredible skills that you can use at any job or volunteer opportunity that relates to cashiering, working with others and supporting a cooperative, community/member based organization. You will also learn more than just how to ring up items, enter UPC codes and answer questions by customers. There are opportunities to read articles on The 7 Cooperative Principles and The Kindest Approaches to Disagreement, while you work through a stuff to-do list on every shift. If you are looking for a meaningful, fun, educational and memorable experience as a volunteer, this is the place. Plus you are helping support a community that relies on the healthy, organic, delicious, vegetarian and vegan foods that the George Street Coop and Café provide.

The store is a little funky, sure. But it offers foods that are not available for miles and miles. I think it's worth the extra cost for food that is difficult to get elsewhere, especially for vegetarians and vegans. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly -- and willing to order foods they don't sell. A great place to stock up on varieties of tofu, Vegenaise, and seitan. The store has a wide selection of vegan sandwiches as well as various fillings for making your own sandwiches, salads, etc. There is a nice veggie and fruit area, as well as plenty of grains, nuts, and dried fruits. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Plenty of health aids too.

This place is a gem. One of the last bastions of hippie counterculture left in New Brunswick. Really good soups. Amazing local honey. Lots of organic produce. Outstanding coffee. Nice people and good vibes all around.

I've been a customer and volunteer here since the summer of 2013. The amount of care and camaraderie that is available to anyone who frequents the George St. Co-op is a refreshing change compared to the buy-and-go atmosphere of major supermarkets that has now become the norm.

Come to the co-op, start a conversation with any of the volunteers there (or the manager, John), and see how you can become a part of a local cause that genuinely supports the people that support it. You won't be disappointed!

This non-profit co-op always has a wonderful selection of organic fruits and vegetables. (Also locally grown, when available.) The produce, at least, is very reasonably priced compared to other stores that sell organic produce. Bulk foods including herbs, nuts, nut butters, grains, cleaning products are also a bargain. And there's a wonderful little vegan juice bar, separately managed, upstairs.

I read the review that Harmony left. That got me through the door. Then, I met Julia inside. She talked me into having lunch. We had a lovely chat about our cats. I got some coffee, the most amazing lentil and chickpea soup ever and a Moshe's eggless sandwich, some lavender oil and pine tar soap.

Love the co-op. Friendly staff, cool atmosphere, great prices on local organic produce and a nice selection of specialty items that can only be found off the beaten path. I've been shopping there for a few years and enjoy supporting an organization with a vested interest in the community's health.
