Very nice experience here the last few summers. Great location near town and the grocery store. Direct mt bike trail access. The only downside is there are a lot of cameras, so you should be ok being recorded in common areas. Don’t steal firewood!!

Awesome area, sauna got nice and hot, cabins were very cozy. Love the screened in patio below. The rope bridge entrance was a very cool welcome feature

We've been going up to Crosby for a few years and I don't know why we have never stayed here, because it is our new fave place!

I like to rough it, but my husband needs to glamp... so he loved the mini fridge and screen door so he could see outside but not get bitten up.

I loooooooved the views and jumping in the cold lake and omg I have never seen so many wild strawberries in the woods before, I can't imagine what it is like when they are fruiting. I took a lot of nature photos after it rained, really beautiful grounds. Lots of great plants. The honeysuckle was blooming and we saw a hummingbird eating at one of the bushes, lovely!

Beds are actually comfy, woo hoo! Plus excellent location, easy to buzz into town for coffee & food and easy to jump on the trails!

The kitchen came in so handy to heat up leftovers and that toilet paper in the bathrooms is the most luxurious ever!!! I can't wait to go back but they are always booked up when we wanna go.

I do wish there were trail maps in the binder in the rooms, I really like to study them and decide where I want to ride.

UPDATE 9.6.2023: Our 2nd stay here was very nice. My mom loved it! We did use the bunk beds for the 1st time and although comfy, if the bottome person is a restless sleeper you can feel every wobble.

Use the connector trail for the 1st time and it was the best for not having to load up bikes onto the care. Bike out and ride right to Yawkey which is our fave unit. We love the little kitchen more and more each time too... such a money saver so we don't have to eat out all the time. And... just booked our 3rd stay for this fall. We love it here!!!

We stayed for the first time in June 2022, we loved it so much that we returned in Aug. We stayed in an RV spot. It is super quiet. I love that it's a small resort. Our family loved the swimming dock and new swim platform. The lake was gorgeous to swim in. The resort is kept clean. We travel from Canada specifically to bike the Cuyuna trails, which are accessed right from the resort. Super one grocery store is literally 2 mins away. They don't have fresh water for RV's on site, and we lack the knowledge of where to fill our camper. That's a bit of an issue we are trying to figure out. Overall, we love this resort. We had to book early this year to get our 2 trips booked! Can't wait! My only comment is that it feels they could use a few more RV spots, they are always booked, and the tent spots seem to be more empty.
Also, I love that the reservation rates are affordable compared to some resorts in Cuyuna!

Nice and clean. Firewood I ordered was on the porch, fridge works, dock is large and still new. Added a wood burning sauna from the last time we stayed. Bike trail connects pretty nicely to Yawkey Unit on the Man Cage trail. Steps to get down to the lake are pretty steep and no shore and drops off pretty quickly. Like most mine lakes, the water is protected from wind pretty well and is clear enough to see the bottom quite a few feet down.

We love Red Rider. Cabins are just as described and perfect for a weekend outdoors any season. Right on the Cuyuna trail system and on a beautiful pit mine lake perfect for swimming, and even rainbow trout off the dock. Resort owners are often seen cleaning and maintaining and have been accommodating of early check-in etc. Shared bathrooms are kept as clean as can be expected.

If possible we will not be staying anywhere but Red Rider when we are in the area!! VERY clean bathrooms and shower rooms, I’ve never been to a campground with cleaner facilities. We also used the kitchen area to do our dishes, super convenient to have so close and not have to spend extra time cleaning them at the site. The dock was also very nice and clean. Really happy with our experience and we’ll be staying again!

Very nice place. Clean and cozy. Only stayed one night but it was a nice experience. Wish I would have brought a fishing pole. Nice dock to fish off of.

The four of us stayed at Miner's Mansion cabin over New Years. The accommodations were great and you can't go wrong with that lake view and fire pit right outside the door. The resort is connected to the mountain bike trails, so all you have to do is roll out the front door and you're there.
The whole place, including the shared areas, are sparkling clean and always taken care of. Owner Vern stopped by to chat and kept the wood pile stocked.
We''l definitely be back.

Cabin #5 was great! Two adults and two kids loved Red Rider and would certainly stay again. Cabins were clean and owners were great to deal with. No issues at all. The location is incredible with town being minutes away if you need to grab anything. The trails are right off the property and closest to some of the best that Cuyuna has to offer. The lake is great with a dock directly in from of the cabins. Not sure what else you'd want from a place to stay and ride or fish or relax or whatever else the area has to offer. A great experience......

My husband is an avid mountain biker so we booked a long weekend here (in one of the cabins) and loved it! There is an easy access trail from the resort to the rest of the trails. We had plenty of space in the cabin for our stuff and our bikes. The bathroom/shower room were very clean and well kept. The surprise was the little kitchen area with a stove, microwave, pizza oven and sink! We would recommend anyone to come here and stay.

We are usually up in Crosby in the Spring-Fall camping at Portsmouth for mountain biking...this is our first year with fat bikes for the winter season and obviously camping was out! My husband and I rented one of the cabins (#8 Taylor made) Saturday night. The cabin was perfect to come back to after a few hours out on the cold riding. Bonus since it's the offseason it was quiet and there was no waiting to get into the nice toasty shower room! Easy access to the trails right from the cabin, ride-in/ride-out! My husband really enjoyed the wood fired sauna too.
I requested early check in, and since no one booked the cabin on Friday, Teffany called and let us know while we were on our way up Saturday that we were free to settle in when we got there.
We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back!

This is a gem for anyone that loves outdoor recreation. Cabins are spacious and clean. Locking storage area for your bike. Incredible view of the lake. Bathrooms have everything you need and nothing you don't.Kitchen area is a life saver. I didn't see pots and pans but I brought my own so I didn't look super hard.

These folks have created a excellent resort and I will be sure to return.

Tree fort Haven #6. Really great place to visit! All the amenities you need and nothing you don’t. The cabin was clean and the beds were very comfortable. So many fun things to do in the area, in addition to the amazing mountain biking trails- kayaking, swimming, SCUBA, snorkeling and hiking. The screened in porch was really nice when the mosquitoes came out, and this particular cabin was away from the others and felt a bit more private, which we liked. We can’t wait to come back!

Nicely spaced, wooded, private and clean sites. They have the cutest cabins and they also have RV and tent sites. This was my second time there and both times I booked a RV site. They continuing to invest in their resort by add more amenities. It’s also in a great location. Close enough to the town of Crosby and easy to jump on the single track trails. I just booked again for another trip in October!

Enjoyed our stay at Red Rider Resort and Campground. The cabin was nice and warm during our snowy weekend stay. The kitchen is a helpful resource and the bathroom/showers are nicely designed and extremely clean. We'll be back in warmer weather to enjoy the deck, patio and campfire. Plus, the owners provided great hospitality. Great proximity to Cuyuna State Recreation Area.

We loved the resort as tent campers! Clean site upon arrival, clean bathrooms and a gorgeous mine/lake to swim in! Vern was very friendly and accessible around the resort. The sunsets were pretty neat on the lower level or through the trees.
One thing to be aware of is the poison ivy growing richly in the area due to the iron rich soil. We just kept out of the foliage and in the trails and never had an issue.

I live in Aitkin but enjoy the beauty of Cuyuna when it comes to the trails and kayaking. My bf and I decided to close out the summer this weekend and go camping one more time. Our campsite #5 was perfect for us with a picnic table, charcoal grill and fire pit. Easy access to a vault toilet, fire wood, and a dumpster. Even better was being like a minute away from the new SuperOne grocery store when we realized we forgot a few necessities. I can’t speak highly enough of this great place and can’t wait to rent a cabin next!

The camp site was well positioned with good level apron for my tent. Beautifully shaded with a view through the trees to the lake this site was also ideal for relaxing in the afternoon after shredding the Red and a swim in the lake. Tip: Bring a flotation device and jump right off the dock for a quick refreshing dip. Great bonus at Red Rider is that there is a small but fully equipped kitchen that is shared among the cabins and tents, complete with stove, toaster, microwave and slow cooker. The whole Resort is well tended and nicely kept by the very friendly and accommodating family that runs it.
I will definitely stay here again when I return for more Cuyuna adventures!

Cabins are incredible, overview of the lake is incredible, swimming is incredible, access to the trails is incredible, everything is just incredible. They thought to include everything from places to store bikes, a wall mounted bike clamp to do some quick maintenance, a kitchen attached to the bathroom, a mini fridge inside the cabins, and many other things. Teffany & Vernon are very friendly and have done an awesome job with the place and I would highly recommend checking it out.
