Oak Park City Hall

This isn’t a review of city hall but of the city of Oak Park.

Okay- lovely streets (minus the random pot holes crowded by road workers looking like they need a smoothie break between the blood, sweat, and tears), great parks with plenty of space for kids and dogs (note to owners of both- keep them on a leash because I didn’t see a reserved play space for either gremlins), the occasional skunk and fox (what does the fox say but em nim nim b’dmin nim nim), ghosts that run fast (they’re wondering around Majestic St running for closure- something probz burned down in the 1930s with people inside), most quiet evenings (loved the silence and often sirens in the distance), and nice neighbors (also hot men walking their dogs while I wondered if they were gay until I saw their [wife?], [girlfriend?], [beard]? Call me.

Overall- great city but I’m excited to get back to NYC.

They were very well staffed and organized with all of the social distancing measures in place. Today at 3:30 all of the voting stations were in use with no line, plenty of parking a drive by drop box and another one by the door. So all clear no excuse not to vote

Everyone was very nice. I went in to vote, because I hadn't received my absentee ballot yet. They got me taken care of, I voted, and I was on my way. Thank you.

My teenage son had the absolutely worst experience with Oak Park first line workers and Alliance Ambulance on Sunday March 26, 2023. The male representative was grotesquely, unprofessional becoming hostile after growing impatient with questions that any doating parent would ask, such as where the oxygen level are, if they had the epinephrine medication etc. As if his unprofessionalisn wasn’t enoug he even went as far as making racially charged comments to my son as he collected his information and home address. This is a cry to consider contracting with a different ambulance company that committ to giving African American residents the quality service we have to pay for like everyone else! This is not my first racist encounter with Alliance and I’m sure another incident occurs with myself and family members while visiting in oak park!
