Great red sauce! I also loved the white stone pizza with pepperoni & ricotta too. This is #1 pizza in Maine for me so far. Spectacular flavor that's light but still cheesy with a crunchy under carriage. Can't wait to come back! 🍕🤤

Best pizza I've had in Portland. Didn't look amazing in the window but turned out excellent when heated up. Reminded me of Joe's Pizza in NY.

The pizza is amazing! The right dough size, it only needs tomato and excellent cheese! Of course, there are many other varieties, but this was my first time, and it will not be the last one.
The garlic knots are amazing. Little pieces of cheese, crunchy clouds, a mustvto try if you are in town.
Nothing funny, but great food!

This place has some fantastic pizza. They sell by the slice and two different sizes by the box. The pizza is a New York style thin crust, and every flavor is so great. I have had the bbq, spicy Hawaiian, white stone, and cheese. I also enjoy ordering a side of meatballs and garlic bread. Parking is on the street but it isn't too hard to find a spot. The service is fast and everyone is friendly. I highly recommend checking it out. I will definitely be coming back!

I’m a Native NYer (born & raised from 1982-2000, went to college and lived there until 2008 and went back every year just to bring back pizza to Atlanta until 2015.

Pizzaiolo is legitimately the best pizza not only outside NYC but if it were in NYC, it would hands down beat any local Manhattan pizzeria. Great flavor, down-to-earth people, small booth style seating.

The NY thin crust is crunchy but soft enough to fold like most NYers do. The cheese to sauce ratio is on point and great flavor! Not too much of either.
There are gluten free options too, it comes I2” pies.
All pizzas also come in slices except for gluten free.

The Greek salad was also good b/c of Fresh Feta, pickled red onions and seedless olives, the dressing is magically slightly vinegar like it must be a red wine vinaigrette perfect balance to the Feta & pickles onions.
The hours of the pizza shop are amazing!
The plain and pepperoni are simply delicious.

First night in Portland we had the Pepperoni it was sooo good we went back for the plain and ordered the meatballs.
You may think $3.50 is a bit much for meatballs but it’s worth it!

I highly highly recommend this place for pizza. The line can get long so you may want to call it in even if it’s only one pie.

This place rules. The pizza is so amazing. We got a Bronx and a cheese. The flavor combo on the Bronx with the garlic was out of this world. I really like how there was no sag or sogginess to this pizza at all. I highly recommend this joint.

I went to the bar side of things and enjoyed my experience. The bartender was a delight, very helpful and attentive. The pizza (which I had by the slice) was perfectly thin and crispy with evenly distributed toppings. Wireless charging on the bar top is a nice touch.

My husband got the Pepperoni and ricotta pizza slice and I got the Spinach and ricotta pizza slice as well as a canoli. It was all delicious. It was the best pizza my husband and I have had in a long time. The canoli was one of the best canolis I have had in a long time as well. My husband and I ate the pizza so fast. That I couldn't even get pictures of the pizza.

Visiting from the Midwest, this might be the best pizza I've ever had. The shop is small and service is a little chaotic, but if that doesn't bother you, seek this place out. You're going to be tempted to do seafood for 5 days straight (I did!) but when you need a break, grab this pizza. You will not be disappointed!

I discovered this place when Dave Portnoy did a review and honestly I think his review was a little low at 7.5.
The pizza was hot crunchy and the crust was absolutely to die for. I give it a 10 on 10.

As a recovering New Yorker, this is the closest pizza I’ve gotten in Maine to an authentic NY slice. The sauce is perfect, crust spot on. Only wish they were closer or delivered.

Great pizza...the crust is the best if you like thinner style pizza. Otto's pizza should take note. No skipping on toppings, and the flavor is out of this world. Keep up the great work Pizzaiolo.

If heaven were a pizza, it would come from Pizzaiolo. Imagine the perfect crispy undercarriage that’s so satisfyingly crunchy, it could double as a percussion instrument. Each bite is a symphony of flavors: the sauce is so deliciously rich and tangy that it must be made from tomatoes that spent their lives basking in the sun while listening to classical music. The toppings are so abundant and fresh, it feels like a whole farmers' market decided to throw a party on your pizza. Forget love at first sight—this is love at first bite. If you haven't tasted Pizzaiolo, you're missing out on what can only be described as a culinary masterpiece that will make your taste buds do the cha-cha.

My favorite is the Bronx.

Pizzaiolo is hands-down THE BEST pizza in Portland. I recently had to move away from there, and I'm devastated at the loss of this place. There's nothing else like it around! Real NY pizza is hard to come by, especially by the slice, which are HUGE. The people that work there have always been great to me and I will miss them as well!

No frills (can't speak for the new Yolo bar next door) but the pizza you get is the closest thing in Maine to a true New York slice. I always look for cheese slices to have a lasagna-esque quality where the sauce and cheese merge, and these slices certainly pass that test. A large pie is a bit expensive compared to other 16" pies, but fully worth the money.

They remain best slices in town, always have a large variety of options...and now they've added a small bar so you can enjoy a beer with your pizza!

Came in close to closing in their new location off of forest avenue, was promptly greeted with a a huge smile from the amazing hostess, or waitress who unknown to her I had probably the worst week in a long time and after asking for a slice, she immediately noticed the pizza was cut wrong, added another slice because it was smaller than the rest of the pies, and threw in a order of garlic knots that were fresh but never picked up. It turned my day around 180° and she may never know. I would give this place 6 stars if I could! Always an amazing environment and I have been their amazing genuine Brooklyn style pizza for years but tonight’s food? Topped off while wholesome.

This is a great location.Full of character and the pizza is absolutely delicious.My personal favorite is the bacon Ricotta and Sweet potato pizza!!!! Love How they use only the freshest ingredients and put pride into their food!!! Is always a must hit when I am in the mood for a pizza.
And not to mention the meatball sub is delicious!!!! They also have a great cheesecake selection and have soda's slices to go!!!!
