Car X in Ames is the best car shop I’ve been to. Any problems & they got it. The manager Danny is a down to earth really good person & all the staff are nice people too.

This weekend my car randomly started shaking while accelerating & I brought it in first thing Monday. They were super busy, all bays full getting work done & Danny & a crew member stopped what they were doing to diagnose the problem, which was just a bad wire. They fixed the wire for free since it was a small issue but it really meant a lot they’d stop what they’re doing to help me. Plus, the wire they replaced actually turned off a few other lights of mine that have been bugging me but I wasn’t sure how to turn them off.

Great shop, great people. Car X has my business and I encourage everyone else to take their car maintenance needs there as well 🙏🏼

I have been going to Car X in Ames for a few years now and always get great service! They have squeezed me in when I had unexpected issues, done a couple (or more)favors for me, and always honest and ready with advice and nice to me. Thank you for being there for me and helping me out!

The guys who love old fords took good care of me after a rough day of needing my precious ‘97 F250 to be towed. They were quick and respectful. While I hope not to be a regular, they have my loyalty.

My bf needed a quick fix on his tire. Always had amazing service here with Danny. He repaired and patched it up in 15 minutes. CarX is the best place to go!

My son and his girlfriend had their first ever vehicle breakdown ,2008 Chevy Impala, I have to say as a parent dealing with this issue all the way from GA I am extremely impressed by the both the service and professionalism shown by everyone at CARX. They had the vehicle up and running next morning after a 5:00pm tow in and their estimate for the work came in under. If I could give 10 stars I would.

A great big shout out to Car X of Ames Iowa.
Shopping around the city of Ames, from Boone, and realized I had a flat tire. Gimped into Car X at 11:30am and asked if i could get my pickup tire repaired and back on my way by 12:15.
As I had a Dr. Appointment at 12:30pm @ Mc Farland Clinic.
He told me he would put me next.
Just b4 12 noon the technician pulled my pickup in the shop.
At 12:10. They came to the waiting room and said I was ready to roll!
He chuckled, because he didn't realize that my large blonde poodle was even in the back sat!
I guess he wanted his first ride up on a lift, so Pierre kept still!! 😀
Then when i went to pay.... NO CHARGE!!! What????
That never happens!!
So very nice there are still kind and 😊 caring persons still around!!
Car X just gained another happy customer!! ❤

Incredible service. Dave communicated clearly, went out of his way to solve my problem as timely as possible, and explained the underlying problem and how he fixed it. My car broke down while driving from MN to NE and this was a lifesaver!

Easily the best and most reliable place I've ever gone to when I have problems with my car. Every time I've gone, the staff are always friendly and they have prices and deals you can't beat anywhere else. Highly Recommend!

These people are class acts. Auto mechanics sometimes have bad reputations. Not this one. The first thing I noticed was the ease in being helped. It was comfortable and, I didn’t feel pressured. We were treated very well and quite efficiently too. I forget the young lady’s name but she was excellent in how she presented herself and the work we needed to have done. Fast Friendly and Fair. Take CarX for a spin, you’ll enjoy the ride.

Great shop! They do timely, quality work at a good price. I feel confident I'm getting an expert fixing my car and I know I'm not getting ripped off or charged for extra things. Friendly customer service is a big plus too. I've been here many times and will keep coming back!

Danny and his crew were fantastic. Got me in early for my appointment and were great to work with— talked me through things that needed immediate attention and things to track. They made me feel like they had my best interests in mind. Happy to go to them again for routine maintenance and any other things that may pop up along the way!

By far one of the best experiences I’ve had going to any auto shop. They were quick to get back to me on my appointment request and worked with me to find a time that I could get in. I didn’t get his name but the guy working the front desk was very nice and friendly. He explained everything on my courtesy inspection without making it seem like he knew more than me. It’s hard to come by treatment like that especially as a woman going alone. I’ll definitely be returning for next time.

Easily the best auto repair shop in Ames. Let me explain. I've tried about 5 other auto shops in town over the past 5 years, I started with Car-X initially and then tried others because they had more appealing "deals". Everywhere else I tried had inadequate work and explanations for that work and the fixes they performed would quickly undo themselves. Some places (Midas) even did extra damage to my vehicle with cigarette burns on my seats. Fast forward to today and I went back to Car-X for what I knew would be a plethora of repairs and they did incredible work, gave thorough explanations, and did it all for a fair price. For the rest of my time in Ames, I will be trusting all of my car repairs to Car-X.

Hands down the best shop I’ve ever been to in Ames. Danny and his crew are amazing and got me in really quickly. I had to replace suspension parts and Danny talked me through everything that was needed. When something went wrong, they got me in very quickly and fixed my problem! I definitely recommend this shop to everyone who needs any automotive repairs. CarX in Ames has an amazing crew and provides exceptional service!

We've taken our vehicles there a couple times now and their service each time has been consistently good. On our fourth time in last month, we mentioned our Honda was pulling to the right. Their technician checked the alignment and several other things and couldn't figure it out. They returned the vehicle to us free of charge and let us know that their most experienced mechanic was out on vacation. They provided clear instructions and we brought it back in when David would be back in. He figured out the issue within a day. When Kathy called with the estimate she provided a couple recommendations, worked with us on budget, and gave us a clear timeline.

I can't thank them enough! This vehicle will be going to an out-of-state college with our oldest for his freshman year, and I feel like we're seeing him off with confidence. GREAT job!

We have been customers for many years most ever vehicle my wife and I have owned get service and repairs here. The staff have always been honest helpful and upfront on everything. Always works to get the correct answers and solutions to everything that has come up never recommended anything unnecessary. Thanks guys for everything.

I ran over something sharp and had two flat, punctured tires on my passenger side very late on a Thursday evening.They were able to squeeze me into their busy schedule and save both of the tires. I had my car back to me by Saturday morning and was able to drive to Lake Ozark, Missouri and back without any tire trouble one week after they patched them up (5 and a half hour drive - one way).

Yesterday I took one of our service vans in because the brakes were grinding. Cassie at the front desk was able to squeeze us into the schedule and have our van ready in a few hours! All of the other places in Ames were saying a few days to get it in and looked at.
