SCS Martial Arts & Fitness

Both of our kids train with SCS Martial Arts & Fitness. We honestly couldn’t be happier with this school and their curriculum. The school itself is large and very clean. Plenty of space for class without being cramped. The cleanliness makes the odors from sweat and gear nonexistent and also helps stop the spread of a bunch of germs. Plus it just looks amazing. The owners and staff are everything you would want teaching you or your kids martial arts; respectful, highly skilled, understanding, passionate, caring, always improving themselves to better serve you, accommodating, encouraging, excellent mentors, and simply just outstanding people. I’m incredibly happy SCS is a part of our lives. I highly recommend training with them!

SCS is amazing! My son loves it! The owners are wonderful people who dedicate all their time into making the best environment for the kids. We are proud to be apart of the dojo family at SCS!

We have been at SCS for about 6 weeks, and I am so glad that we were directed here by one of my awesome students, who also happens to be an awesome instructor. So, thank you Mr. Benjamin. When you walk in you are almost always greeted by the lovely and super talented Ms. Kyleigh. She can answer most of your questions and takes awesome pictures and videos. The dojo is open, and parents and students are able to watch classes. Mrs. Crissi and everyone else have been extremely welcoming since our very first visit, and it is very clear that they care for their students.

We have an 11 year old girl, and a 7 year old boy, who are both in the juniors class. I have been impressed with all of the coaches each class. Mrs. Crissi, Mr. Josh, Mr. Benjamin, Ms. Catherine, and of course, Renshi (Mr. Sam Boyer) are all are exceptional at what they do. Even in large classes, there is always individualized attention. Correction of moves and techniques comes with kindness, respect, and often an explanation. Even behavioral correction is firm, but respectful.

I love the focus placed on self defense, which has been a part of every class so far. It is awesome as a parent to watch your children learn and complete these skills you hope they never need. It’s very empowering for them to see what they can do to get out of different situations as well.

As if all that wasn’t enough, not long after the the kids joined SCS, Mom’s month started. After some nudging, I stepped way out of my comfort zone and signed up. I got a super cool pink belt and 4 weeks of adult/teen classes. The instructors are as phenomenal with the adults as they are with the kids. Mr. Josh, Ms. Catherine, or Mr. Brandon worked with white belt students and Moms most of the classes I attended. I am super thankful for their instruction, patience, and encouragement! Speaking of encouraging, the other adults in the class rock too!

Oh, and that self defense I was talking about earlier is equally empowering as an adult. I never imagined I would have as much fun or love the experience as much as I have. Thanks, SCS.

So thankful we found SCS Martial Arts. I noticed a change in my daughter’s confidence in just a few weeks after starting classes.

This is probably one of the Best thing that we could have done for our son and our family. They have taken the time and energy to help our son grow not only physically but emotionally. We felt welcome from the very first day and it’s been over a year and we have seen the positive effects on our son. We love them and they love us and we can tell.

We LOVE SCS! My son has grown so much in strength and self control since starting. The instructors are very structured but also find a way to make sure the kids have fun! I highly recommend SCS!! Sensei Chrissi is the best!

Love this place! Have been going here for >5 years (as an adult). The staff are passionate about teaching, are supportive, and have joints that act up, or if you can't do everything you used to, they encourage modifications to the workouts based on your need. The people who attend are also very supportive and the atmosphere is one of encouragement. This is a family owned business, and Renshi Sam and Sensei Crissi are just amazing people and incredible teachers. Can't say enough about how much I enjoy being part of this dojo family.

SCS has become Mia’s (10 yr girl) home away from home. Instructors are the best!! They care about your child in and out of the dojo. So thankful we found our SCS family when we moved to Alabama. Has thought Mia so much about herself.

Watching my daughter and myself grow from white belt to green belt has been amazing. The care and comment from the SCS leadership team has made our growth challenging, but fun. My biggest worry for my daughter was that she would lose interest at some point, but she has only become more focused and goal oriented not only at the dojo, but with school and everyday life as well. I have grown with her as a student and we only plan to work harder in order to earn our Black Belts in the future. Our Goal:? Black Belt Excellence!!

Since we joined the DoJo we have truly been welcomed as family. Each class has helped my son focus and concentrate even when it is hard. The class are perfect for all ages and I am so happy we found this place! The schedule is great for any busy family and the values learned in class are great for practice, school and home!

This Dojo is my second home! The instructors are very knowledgeable, caring and great with the students and their families. I’ve started taking my son there almost 3 years ago and ended up joining the classes as well! I’ve came a long way on my skills and conditioning and made lots of good friends along the way. My son’s behavior changed tremendously and so did his coordination and confidence. I super recommend SCS!

I love the people at SCS. They have become family. And our family has grown together in many ways because of the opportunities offered at SCS. Definitely recommend this dojo to anyone looking to put their children in martial arts. It's a family owned business run by Sensei Crissi and her husband as well as their son and daughter. They make you feel so welcomed as if you are family. We found out about this place through a friend and my son was invited to buddy week. He has been going since December and loves it here! Currently he is on his 3rd belt and isn't stopping there. Thank you to all the staff here. You guys are amazing!!!!
