Baldwin Bone & Joint PC

I have had the most wonderful experience with Baldwin Bone & Joint. All of the staff are so warm, caring, and kind. Dr. Matthew Goldman is probably one of the better doctors (and excellent surgeon) I have seen in years. His easy and clear manner in communicating information (even if not what I want to hear) is always appreciated. He is very informative about expectations and goals to meet. Never once have I felt just a number. I always feel treated as a person with real concerns. Anytime I have questions outside of the office visit, they have been very quick to reply and find solutions as needed. Just a great all around experience!

TW: Car accident, post op, MRI

Dr. Allison Hunter and her staff are THE BEST. She is truly a miracle worker. I was in a car accident in Oct. 23, broke my wrist. I had no idea, we double checked, triple checked. Thought it was a stretched tendon that would heal on its own. I wore a brace for 6 weeks, when my hand didn’t get any better; we figured it was my slightly labor intensive job not giving my wrist the break it needs. It was interfering with my job. I called BB&J and found out surgery was required ASAP. They said I was just a few more months away from being one good handed at 23. Original surgery plan was to take a bone graft from my hip, and secure it in my wrist with several screws and plates. Dr. Allison Hunter heard my concerns and came up with a different plan. She was able to take a graft from the same arm, and use one screw to secure it. I wore a thumb-spiked ✨sparkly ✨ cast for 9 weeks and a thumb-spiked brace for 4. X-RAYS were exactly what we were hoping for. Scheduled for PT at North Baldwin soon and I have already improved so much.

I’ve never had to wait more than few minutes until called back which is such a plus! I’ve seen several doctors at BBJ and Dr Harcourt is absolutely one of the best doctors I’ve ever seen in my entire life!! He is kind, compassionate, considerate and listens to your every word. I literally can’t say enough good things about him!! I wish he was a back/spine doctor. Thank you Dr Harcourt!!

What I thought was just a worsening life-long migraine condition turned out to be a big problem with my neck. After an ER visit for an out of control migraine exacerbation (meaning days of continuous out of control pain, not eating or drinking much, nausea, and sleeping very little) an MRI revealed a potential problem in my c5-c6. (Thank God for the ER doctor who agreed to do not just an MRI of my head, but also of my neck.) After meeting with 3 local neurologists who offered nothing but more and more “migraine” medications, I sought out a different kind of specialist.

Before my visit with Dr. Gordon, I couldn’t even lie down in my bed for more than a 2 hour stretch. My pillow felt like a bed of nails. I was living in absolute misery and taking way more medication than I wanted, some with terrible side effects.

At my first visit with Dr. Gordon he explained why I may be in so much pain. I told him that I had suffered for years with migraines and that the last 10 years had progressively become unbearable. I went to the appointment not expecting much, as I had been so disappointed by other doctors in the past. After a few more tests, Dr. Gordon suggested a surgery that he thought would help my condition improve by 90% and if you can believe it, he was absolutely right!!

My surgery was scheduled super quick and his staff were so caring and professional. The whole process was unlike anything I’d ever experienced at a doctor’s office.

Even though Dr. Gordon is not a neurologist and doesn’t specifically treat migraine patients, my condition was the result of 2 problems in my body: my migraine condition, which was exacerbated by a neck condition. He never questioned my symptoms, like so many other doctors have in the past. He never dismissed my feelings as a patient. I felt very seen and heard from the first appointment.

Fast forward to 5 months after my surgery and I am feeling better than I have in ten years! I can lie down in my bed without pain and I have more days with minimal pain and some days hardly any. I will always be a migraine person, but now my triggers are more like they were when I was in my 20s and not a debilitating chronic/daily condition. My neck felt better the moment I opened my eyes from surgery. I’m still hesitant to think that I’ll stay this way forever because my life was so miserable before, but now I know where to go if I start to experience those symptoms again.

I will sing Dr. Gordon’s praises forever!

This appointment was quick. I didn't wait very long to be shown to a room. The room was nice and clean. It wasn't 5 minutes between the nurse getting the information she needed and Dr. Goldman coming in to speak with me. He was clear in his estimation and confident about the prognosis. When.Dr Goldman spoke to me I felt like we might as well have been old friends. I was treated with dignity and respect during our conversation and I was presented with options. I'll be sure to leave a review with each visit.

Dr Gordon and his team at Baldwin Bone and Joint have been an absolute blessing. Very professional, excellent communication and outstanding bedside manner. Dr Gordon made me feel as if I was his only patient. He was very thorough answering all my questions and explained everything in a way that made myself as well as my family comfortable. Very highly recommended!

I have already left a review on how wonderful Dr. Pennington is and how wonderful the whole team at the Foley clinic are. Now I'm seeing Dr. Pennington at the Daphne clinic, which means I have seen his PA, Judith Blake. She is wonderful as well! She is very thorough and attentive and makes it obvious that she truly cares about you and your care! I was a little nervous about switching to the Daphne clinic because it's much larger and I didn't know what to expect. I quickly found that the team at this clinic is as wonderful as the Foley team! I am so thankful to have found Dr. Pennington and Baldwin Bone and Joint! I still highly recommend!!

Dr Harcourt has helped me for a couple years now and it’s been great. He is thorough explanatory and you don’t sit waiting in an exam room for a prolonged amount of time. Front desk is efficient and welcoming and nurses/support staff are always smiling and happy!

I’m very pleased with Baldwin bone & joint! They truly do care about your wellbeing. Judy and Dr Pennington are wonderful, they explain in terms you can understand.They are taking excellent care of my bone and joint problems. It has taken me awhile to find such caring medical staff. Just be truthful with them and you’ll have a wonderful doctor and staff!!

Their office is fast, efficient, and friendly! Easy to complete the registration online to speed the process. In house X-rays. Dr. Chamblee and Dunn, PA were knowledgeable, recognized the problem quickly, and clearly explained the plan of care. This is a great group!

I recently saw Judith Blake for the first time. I was nervous because decades of back pain has shown me that a very large percentage of providers are cookie cutter processes/ procedures, want you in and out in a heartbeat, and rarely look at your chart so you are always repeating yourself every visit. To my surprise, Judith came in with a pleasant energy and attitude, took me seriously, knew my medical info before she came in the room, and answered all of my questions. Judith would be highly recommended by me

Dr. Harcourt is fantastic! He talks to you like he's known you for years, and he is very knowledgeable about his patients diagnoses and needs. He was very gentle with the needle placement in my elbow, and I feel confident that I will have success with the procedure he performed. I highly recommend him!!!!

Appreciate the kindness and compassion that all the individuals show when you are at Baldwin Bone And Joint. Dr Hicks is excellent. It's a blessing to have him for my Doctor. I finally feel like my back is healing. I have had a total of 5 back surgeries. The first 4 were done by a neurosurgeon and he kept trying to patch me together and never completely fixing anything. When I finally went to Dr Hicks I feel like I've had one surgery and everything is finally fixed properly. I wish I'd seen him the first time. Dr Harcourt is also very nice and has helped me in another department with my knee. I just wish I'd gone to Baldwin Bone and Joint sooner.

After years of pain failed surgeries at UAB twice, I prayed a lot. I will drive the 4 hours to see Dr .Pennington and others. He was the nicest and most knowledgeable Physician I have seen In 3 years. I had lost hope. He gave me a little hope. Amy was very nice as was the nurse.

This place is a super example of how excellent medical personnel and responsive, efficient staff can make patients feel that their needs and treatment are being performed superbly. Patients are seen very quickly at the appointment times, yet are never made to feel rushed once in the examination room. Empathy, concern, and medical care are at the highest level at the Baldwin Bone and Joint PC.

Dr. Spain has treated my daughter through two different broken bones now! He has also treat me for tendinitis. He has incredible bedside manner and is wonderful with kids. Lucky to have him on the Eastern Shore!

Dr. Gordon is simply the best. I had dealt with years of progressive pain and previous providers offered pain meds or physical therapy that was no relief. After my initial assessment Dr. Gordon walked me through my options and together we decided ACDF was the best answer. My surgery was a great success and I finally have a pain free existence and have been able to return to an active lifestyle. I cannot thank Dr. Gordon and his team enough. He’s a straight shooter, doesn’t offer temporary solutions, and completely restored my enjoyment in the everyday.
