🌲Beautiful! Secluded! We were the only campers on the far side of "Yellowhammer Loop."

🏕Campsites were spaced far enough apart.

🚻Bathrooms were spread out & near to all campsites. Clean. 🧖🏻‍♀Warm shower water.

🙋🏼‍♀Hosts were very friendly & never intrusive, always ready to help with whatever needs arose.

🏖We were there before the beach & day use area was opened so cannot comment on it.

Wow! I read a lot of positive reviews about this place and it still exceeded my expectations! The drive-up camping spots are perfectly spread out with plenty of privacy. The staff was present (and super friendly) but never intrusive. There’s also a lake on site with a large swimming area. Absolutely amazing and can’t wait to go back!

Loved my stay here. The hosts were great! A nasty storm came through and blew over and snapped off many trees! As soon as the worst of it was over the hosts were at my tent right away to make sure I was okay. That's how nasty that storm was. And the host was already starting to help clear the roadway with a chainsaw within 15 minutes after the storm. They had a LOT of debris to clean up. One pic is showing the thickness of the tree that fell on site 2. (No one was at site 2 thank God) It was nice and quiet during my stay. Saw deer and fawns 🦌 everyday.

Love this campground. Spacious, private, and has a lot of unique plants.

The sewer hookups are very nice and clean which makes for a better experience.

They also have very nice fire rings that can be used for grilling and are made in a way similar to a Solo Stove.

Fantastic spot to camp. Only complaint is each bath house has only one toilet and one shower, and serves about ten camp sites.

Entire facility is well kept and maintained. We frequently use the boat ramp here. There is ample parking and the launch ramp is great. You do have to pay to use this ramp, but I feel it is worth it. You can pay the daily rate of $6.00 or get a season pass for $45.00. That pass will give you use of all the "day" facilities.

Beautiful, very clean place to camp out or "glamp" in your motorhome! Very clean restrooms a d showers. Everyone around this part of Smith Lake were very nice. The people we experienced in Double Springs (when getting gas) weren't friendly but I would hope that's not indicative of everyone there although the lady that checked us out was really nice. Had a great time!

Very nice camp area. Bath houses are top notch, the best we have seen in Alabama. Plenty of space between campsites.

This may be my new favorite campground in Alabama! I went tent camping here on Memorial Day Weekend and will definitely be back. The camp staff greet you with exceptional friendliness and with maps to help you get to your site.

The campground is gated and so it feels particularly safe to camp here. The campsites and the wash rooms were well maintained.

There is also a boat ramp to the water. We set off with paddleboards with ease. Lots of little coves to take refuge from the waves of larger boats on the other side of the lake.

For tent camping, it looked to me like campsite 59 was the smallest site, so if you have more than two people, I recommend going with a different number.

The only thing I would change about this place is that the onsite trails were not very well maintained - they were pretty overgrown so walking on them you have risk of ticks and poison ivy in the summer. However, there are so many beautiful flowers in the spring, and views of the lake.

We asked the front office about other trails in the area. They actually gave us print-outs of of maps with directions to places to hike, with additional printed history of these locations. Wow!
We went to one of these places - Kinlock Falls. Not a long hike, but incredibly gorgeous.

Great place to stay with beach / swimming and somewhat secluded campgrounds. The facilities were kept exceptionally clean and the staff was friendly. All that Bankhead has to offer is minutes away. Definitely recommend.

Stayed in spot #12. Nice and level spot. Good hook up's with bath house in behind spot. Swimming area really nice. Good hiking areas close by. Favoriate was hiking in Natural Bridge Park. Hope to visit this area and campground again soon.

Great campgrounds. Well kept sites, bathrooms are always clean, neighbors are always nice, and everyone is pretty chill all around. Anytime we are visiting Bankhead or The Sipsey Wilderness, you can betcha we'll be doing any car camping at these campgrounds 🙌🏻💯

This is a really special place. They have three camping loops; Firefly, Yellow hammer, and a tent section.
Firefly is perfect for big rigs and fancy campers. Lots of space for slid outs and area rugs and string lights.
Yellow hammer is better suited for smaller campers and lights out quiet nights.
The tent section is on the road to the boat launch but has spacious shady sites.
Small town Double Springs is less than 10 miles and has everything you may need.
Beautiful natural quiet place.
