North Alabama has at least 4 Natural Bridges. 1. Here in Bankhead. 2. Natural Bridge just up the Rd. on Hwy 278, It’s the biggest. 3. Honeycomb Natural Bridge off of Hwy 431,it has a Waterfall. 4. Pisgah Gorge has a Natural Bridge

Fascinating, beautiful and easy to access! The trail is paved and is a circuitous route to the bridge and back to the parking area. There is some grade to the path, but difficulty level is low. Watch for a few pot holes and slippery spots, but overall it is a safe walk for just about everyone. We went on March 18th (2023), so things were not green yet, but it was still beautiful. The parking area even has 2 portable bathrooms. No charge for entry or parking. Easy to find. The area near the bridge is surrounded by the trees and nature of the National Forrest. The entire "hike" is less than a mile. In addition to ample off road (mostly stone) parking, there are also a couple picnic areas and a grill for public use. If you are hungry before or after though, we recommend "Chef Troy's Talk of the Town" restaurant. It is less than 5 minutes away and everything is delicious. Plus, the historic Winston County Jail is right across the street!

There is a tree down right at the bottom of the trail, blocking access under the bridge for strollers or those with limited mobility. You can definitely climb around it still though. Looks fresh like it happened very recently.

This isn't the same as natural bridge park. The whole trail is paved and not nearly as well known as the one in Natural Bridge, but just as extraordinary.

Super cool place check it out.
It's dog friendly and we had the place, pretty much all to ourselves, plus they have bathrooms.
The mosquitoes weren't too bad and there was plenty of shade.
We hiked down both trails and they are well groomed, but be careful there are some pretty steep drop offs down into the Gorge.

Easy to drive to and easy to hike to enjoy excellent scenery in this sandstonerock box canyon (caprock and natural arch) that's also a waterfall after a rain.
The trail is paved and is less than a half mile or so long.

Nice quick stop. Paved and kind of nice to see. Some sketchy folks in the parking lot. There are 2 restrooms so that was nice.
