El Chico Cafe

One of the Cuellar brothers who founded El Chico's (Willie Jack Cuellar) was my Godfather. My Dad Fernando Martinez actually worked for El Chico's for about 17 years. So, I literally grew up in the restaurant. So, it's always nice to visit a familiar place & familiar food still being served at these few locations. I haven't been to an El Chico's in years. And, let me tell you that it did not disappoint. Everything was great from the food to the service to the atmosphere. Thanks, for always being there for me El Chico's!

Always good food and service. Had a bad day and my waitress was extremely thoughtful and attentive.

The food was fantastic . Wife and I enjoyed the amazing tortillas soup, and fiesta botanas. Layer over layers of flavor blended perfectly.

Not only the food and atmosphere were good. We had Mojica served us with all his heart. We can’t wait to stop by again soon.

Firstly, I must laud our wonderful server, K.K.. She was adept, timely, knowledgeable, and personable. I firmly believe that successful work in a service role that requires constant contact with the public is possible for only a rare individual who possesses both an engaging personality and copious patience along with a sharp memory and intuitive sense of timing. K.K. demonstrated each of those skills. She appeared exactly when needed, was very personable, got my (admittedly-complicated) order exactly right, and made it seem to us that we might have been her only table. That's a difficult achievement but she did it with aplomb.

As for the food, it was excellent. From the texture of the tortilla chips, the spice and consistency of the salsa, the perfection of the top-shelf guacamole, the *perfect* meat-to-masa ratio on my tamales, and the ideal black beans, to the bite of the jalapeño margarita and the perfect sweetness of the tea, every item was great!

I'll be looking forward to returning. I'll be asking to be seated in K.K.'s section, even if I need to wait a bit. My thanks to all the staff—it takes teamwork to create such smooth service and you all did it perfectly.

I've been coming here for over 30 years. Absolutely love this place. I recommend the chicken monterrey. It's superb! I've been getting it for 10+ years! Before I discovered that, it was always enchiladas! Their sweat tea is delicious, as is their salsa! Patricia is my favorite waitress, but all of their waiters are great. I hope this place stays open for many more years to come. It's my favorite restaurant to eat at. Prices, food quality, and service can't be beat!

Met with some new friends here for dinner. The food was good, Margaritas were not bad, and the service was outstanding. The yiunge man that waited on us was very attentive and even laughed at my stupid "dad jokes". I wish I could remember his name. We both had the combo fajitas. Would definitely go back again.

El Chico in Rockwall Texas is a very friendly and beautiful place to dine in not only the place but the people works in this restaurant are awesome especially Anastacio who serves us, he is very polite and make us sure that everything we need he gives, manager always checking the customers and make sure everything 's okay. Thanks for these wonderful people! Great foods, Great job.

Just seems that the order takers are not aware of the food and what is spicy and what is not. We asked if the sauce was spicy on the enchiladas and other food. The response was kids eat this all of the time. Long story short, we had to send the food back and get something different because our original order was too spicy.

Fast friendly and great food. Love this restaurant been coming here for decades—a must stop when I am in town.

We LOVE coming to this Mexican food place!
It’s fast and for a family of six it’s one of the cheaper places for our family to eat and get a full tummy!

First of all, the service is EXCELLENT !! Very attentive staff, and genuine. Alexa took my order and was very helpful.

I went there tonight. I'm not from Dallas and was in town for business. I was staying at the Hilton in Rockwell and googled local restaurants.

As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the host. Very friendly. The hostess that walked me to my table was very friendly. And chatty. I like that.

I asked for her recommendation as I told her I had never been here before. She recommended the fajitas, which I ordered.

The steak was moist and flavourful. The chicken was tasty, needed a little salt for my liking. The sides were perfect. The Charo beans were delicious. And the flour tortillas were the bomb.

If I'm back in North Dallas, I will definitely come back. Highly recommended.

Our favorite tex-mex restaurant. Food is always great, service is friendly, attentive, and quick, a great atmosphere, has a classic early tex-mex heritage feel that you would want to expect when dining out at a popular tex- mex cuisine. A+

We visited for a birthday party with about 12 people and the service was very great. We received our drinks and appetizers quickly, including the delicious complimentary tortillas. We had enough time to interact with eachother before our food arrived. My burrito bowl was tasty and had a nice spice to it. I was thoroughly impressed by the service and how attentive they were. Definitely 5 stars for me and I hope they can maintain the same level of service for my next trip.

El Chico’s is a must stop whenever I am in Rockwall.

You must try their homemade flour tortillas. And don’t forget to ask for the “original” queso.

A secret is stick your individual butter packages under the tortilla container so it softens fast.

Went for Lunch, we were seated immediately . Such a nice place, everyone was so friendly! Great food too!! Had numero uno off of the lunch menu, was delicious! For appetizer we had the top shelf table side guacamole, was amazing! Overall great place for lunch…
