Simply Southern Cafe

My husband and I deliberately take backroads in hopes of finding local diners, this place did not disappoint. Our only regret is our inability to eat more. EVERYTHING is delicious, homemade, very generous portions, and SO much to choose from. The greenbeans might be the best I've ever eaten. They even have cottage cheese and pickled beets - might not be your favorite but sure is one of mine. The apple pie was fabulous, served warm with ice cream. Who wants a cheeseburger with all the southern comfort food to choose from? But, if you do get one you will not be disappointed. Sweet tea (half n half) was spot on. We will take this route again just so we can stop and try other dishes.
Family run, it shows! A must on your restaurant list.

This was an accidental find on recommendation of a gas station attendant. A little ways into town so you need to search for it but worth it! Eclectic decorating and coffee cups but everyone was a delight. Staff and locals. Food was top notch. We will happily make a point of stopping here again.

This place is an absolute gem. Gorgeous interior, very clean, fast and friendly service. Their home cut fries and country fried steak were immaculate!

This cafe is in a really small town. We had made a day trip to go see waterfalls in Tennessee from Huntsville and we were hungry on the way. This place had a good rating so we stopped by. We showed up 5 minutes before they opened but they still let us go in and sit down. The ladies who worked there were extremely nice. The restaurant has all different kinds of dinner tables. You’ll most likely see a style someone in your family has had. I really liked the unique decorations and layout. It felt relaxing and fun to eat there. They don’t have a very large menu but I enjoy a minimalist approach. The food was incredible. We got country fried steak with mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. First off, I’m picky when it comes to Mac and cheese and most places don’t have a good recipe. This was the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had from a restaurant. The mashed potatoes were delicious too and the country fried steak with gravy was incredible. I’m so glad we stopped here. If we ever pass through we will definitely stop again.

Loved this place! Great atmosphere. Amazing food! Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and corn! Warm fudge pie for dessert! My husband had blueberry cobbler and ice cream. Yummy!!! Service was great, too.

Totally walked in with 0 inclinations of what their food was like. Their menu is minimal but what they have to offer is all 10/10. Theres a lot of love put into this food and locals pack this spot out, which shows me they really have a good community around Grundy co. Im from wv and we dont even have a spot like this anywhere to my knowledge. the burger was NO LIE the best cheeseburger ive had in 30 years on this planet. Do not take this message lightly 😅. Lovely people, lovely spot. Can’t wait to hopefully return someday!

An excellent stop for hearty comfort foods in a welcoming country house setting. From my understanding, the menu is constantly rotating. I ordered the meat loaf with loaded mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, turnip greens, and corn bread. There's not a single portion of the meal that I didn't feel satisfied with.

There was hardly a wait time for my food, and the prices are great. Important to note that they only accept cash or check.

Beyond the entrees is a plethora of sweets for dessert like chess pie, apple sauce, and Sundrop cake.

I plan to return here anytime I'm on business.

The whole experience is always amazing. The food always comes out very quickly but is always made fresh! I haven't had 1 thing on their menu that I was disappointed in and the staff are always friendly. Definitely recommend

Great food, great service, and nice big porch to visit on after you eat!! Don't forget the Fudge Pie!!! It is to die for!!!

Stopped here with my family on our way from Chattanooga to Nashville and couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised. The menu our waitress shared with us has a lot more than what’s listed on the board. Best part, their salad ingredients are locally grown and sourced! Everything was delicious and service was attentive and welcoming. We’ll be back!

Best food I ever ate I want to come back soon

Found this gem when we decided to take the scenic route home. The food was amazing. The meatloaf and veggies all homemade and delicious. The blackberry cobbler and chess pie absolutely scrumptious!

My mom, husband, and I ate at this café this afternoon. My mom and I ate the BLT salad, and my husband ate the pork belly sandwich with fries. The food was so scrumptious, and the service was efficient. We marveled at the ambience and decor. This was a wonderful experience!

My husband, our girls, and I happened upon the Simply Southern Cafe while passing through on our way to Chattanooga and loved it! The atmosphere is fabulous but the food is even better. It has the feel of Sunday dinner at the grandparents house. Definitely a unique experience worth having!
