I might have missed visiting this museum in honor of the Father of American Airborne. The folks at the Dunn Area history museum highly recommended it.
A fascinating man and warrior. AATW

I was pleasantly surprised by the size and layout of the museum. Bailey, the curator, walked through the museum with me highlighting events and facts about the life of General Lee. Very knowledgeable young man who loves sharing. I would highly recommend visiting the museum.

Amazing museum covering a historic and amazing man. The location is his former home turned museum and the staff is awesome and very informative. A must see. Only currently open on Saturdays.

Fantastic museum about Major General Lee, his service, his contributions to the development of the airborne divisions and his personal life. In addition, there are exhibits about general airborne development and history as well. My only quibbles would be that a few of the text panels were placed awkwardly and hard to read and the third floor was disorganized compared to the bottom two. The lady did say it was temporary and it wasn't too much of a factor compared to the rest of the museum.

Awesome museum. I especially loved the 100+ year old house. Walking through the original house where he lived (and died) was pretty cool. The exhibits were really interesting and educational as well.

A great museum.. Really interesting and the workers there know what there talking about. They tell you a lot and answer any question you ask. They're also really nice. The museum also has a lot of interesting exhibits and really tells you about General Lee.

This place is amazing and three stories! The thing that got my attention the most was the glider plan that delivered a jeep of troops to the battle field and the Airborne bicycle. A little for everyone. William Carey Lee (not related to the Civil War Lee) was born in Dunn, North Carolina. Franklin D. Roosevelt authorized Lee to form the first paratroop platoon. In August 1942, Lee was the commander of the newly formed 101st Airborne Division. They jumped into France on D-Day. Lee died in 1948 in his Dunn home. It is well worth seeing and I added some pictures.

Definitely get more than what you anticipate when approaching the house. Once inside they have so many unique displays of items and information. I would recommend for anyone interested in military history.

This another one of those very specific museums dedicated to the works a one individual but if you are passing though Dunn, Ga on 95 it is a great place to make the stop and learn a little about history.
