Bonita Lakes Park

Loved this park! Ate a big cracker barrel breakfast, then did this trail. like other reviews have said, it's about 1/3 paved walking and about 2/3 gravel path through the woods. plenty of steep inclines and declines, but nothing that a regular non-athletic beginner can't handle. For reference, I am 5ft 10in 360lbs and I did the loop in about 2.5hrs. My distance measured on All Trails showed just a little over 6 miles.
Sunday morning around 10:30am to about 1pm, gloomy cloudy conditions, temp around 60 degrees, not crowded at all. 10:30 to noon I only passed like 3 people going the opposite direction. Noon to 1pm I saw more people coming in and walking around the smaller reservoir loop.

I love Bonita and refer to it as my happy place. I use the walking track frequently. I sometimes walk the trails. They are both nicely maintained. Bonita has numerous picnic tables most with beautiful views of the lakes. There are two playgrounds that my grandson enjoys. Horse riding is very popular here as well as mountain biking. There is a boat ramp and ample parking for boat trailers. I see people fishing quite often. I enjoy taking photos of the animal life and the flora through the seasons. I highly recommend sending time here.

Just ignore the lady who lives in her car and screams things at you as you walk by - this place is otherwise a wonderful place with different areas to explore 😊 The pup loves saying hello to the friendly folks here and the sunsets have been a treasure. Went kayaking on one of the lakes and enjoyed a good ol PB&J.

Nice reservoir beside the bigger Bonita Lake. There is a 1.19 miles paved walking way around the reservoir. Free parking and a big playground makes a stay for families perfect.

Great place to get close to nature and stY close to town. Wonderful hiking trails and nice place to kayak. Playground for the kids and plenty of space to run around.

I enjoy the trails here. I once had to use this scenery for my art class years ago

Very well maintained area. There are a few parkings, a toilet, and lunch tables on a site. Beautiful surroundings. Not crowded at all. I had a wonderful time just walking around and resting a bit (was traveling by car and stopped there to have lunch). Definitely worth visiting

Love it . Long hike on gate 11. Also very clean. It was something fun to do after work.

Very nice and beautifully maintained, one of Meridian's gems, if you like to jog, run or bike the trails you can't go wrong! You can find all sorts of wildlife from deer, lizards, scorpions, ducks and geese! Also the park is usually host to 5ks to other trail races. The trails are perfectly marked and nice! Take your bike or horse and have a great time and enjoy the outdoors at the beautiful place!

1.19 miles of beauty! Wear comfy shoes. Lots of friendly people waving as they pass you by. Several stopping points marked with the cutest little gazebos...so you can catch your breath! Not that I needed to stop...okay, I may have stopped at one or two....four at the most!!!

What can I say negative? Not one thing. It's really pretty. Shaded eating areas, plenty of parking, get your walk, run, jog in, sir down& watch the kids play on the playground with a water view & set up a picnic table. Go visit the back area & watch the ducks or go on the trials for a horse back ride. It's simply beautiful & a safe area.

I use to love live in meridian Mississippi. Born and raised. Bonita likes has a clean safe and welcoming environment. You can go fishing or bird viewing. Enjoy the view while walking the beautiful trails. I would suggest to go on a peaceful trail walk or jog in the fall or spring. The scenery is most beautiful at those times of the season.And this location was one of my favorite locations growing up in Meridian,MS. It's so special to me that I wanted to share my joy I have at Bonita lakes. Take your loved ones up there. I will be when I visit.

Such a beautiful area and worth the stop! Whether you are coming here for fitness, great backdrop for photo shoot, or just to get the peace of mind of being by the lake it is worth the time! In my opinion this is the best area in Meridian.

The is a very nice park, but be warned that dogs are NOT allowed on the pathway around the lake. Although, I understand that some owners are to lazy to clean up after their pets, this did spoil the visit for us.

Picnic pavilion near the children's playground was nice and clean. The playground equipment was in great condition and no signs of vandalism.

The view is stunning and well maintained lawns and to the beautiful view.

Clean park, plenty of playgrounds and trails. Improved trails for hiking and biking, unimproved for biking and horses. Exercise stations placed at intervals around the improved path. Access to fishing in multiple locations. Restrooms in multiple locations.

Bike trails aren't anything crazy but they're some of my favorite in the area.

Beautiful place to walk, picnic or enjoy the outdoors. My first visit and it was very nice. They rest stations along the wking trail surrounding the lake. Just a neat place to get some exercise or just have a seat and enjoy beautiful days.

Had a wonderful time at Illuminations Center for Dyslexia 2nd Annual Scarecrow Contest. It was held in the evening hours at the boat ramp and it was perfect!

Beautiful place with over 5 + miles to run,walk, and extra trails for biking, horseback riding as well as various places to cookout, kids playground, fishing and kayaking

Great place to walk, run, bike, hike, or just sit and enjoy the scenery. Lots of play areas for the kids and picnic areas for everyone.
