Weekday date night for Valentine’s Day was amazing. Usually stick with the redfish, but ventured away for the lamb chops tonight. They were grilled to perfection. Staff was amazing, as usual; and, we thoroughly enjoyed the music of Travelin Jane Duo.

Best ribeye you will ever have on a paper plate. A bit rustic on location but well worth the drive. Buttermilk pie is the dessert of choice.

I’ve heard a lot about this place and I was not disappointed! Nestled in a very small, remote town about 40 minutes outside of Jackson, H.D. Gibbes is a unique experience you won’t forget combining great food with southern charm. The building is rustic and decorated with antiques and quirky finds. The steaks were delicious and served on paper plates which adds to the whole quirkiness of the experience. You can bring your own wine and they will provide cups and a bottle opener. There is a trough of beer that you can help yourself to, and they ask that you keep the caps and pay for it later, by the honor system (what other restaurant does this 😜). Some of the tables are community style, and you can sit elbow to elbow with new folks. It has a family vibe with true southern charm. You may have to wait a while for a table, and they don’t take reservations for parties of less than 6, but you can sit out on the porch while listening to live music, watch the sun set, and crack open your own bottle of wine while you wait. Overall, it was a great experience definitely worth trying.

Dinner Saturday July 1st. NY Strip was amazing, baked potato was one of best I’ve ever had, and the spinach/artichoke casserole was excellent. This isn’t fine dining, you get your meal on a chinet plate, there’s community tables in main building, and you have to bring your own wine. Place is laid back and fun with good live music. A must if you’re near the area.

This place is incredible! A true oasis, it's pretty well the only thing for miles. A hardware store by day, and steak place by evening, this unique family owned piece of history is a must have on any travel list. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, and it is rustic but surprisingly clean. I'm not sure how often it happens, but when we went they had live music that added a lot also. The bathrooms are nice, the staff is polite and cheerful, and the food wait is moderate but not too long (about average for any decent restaurant). Even if it took a while, the food is well worth the wait. Portion sizes are good. Filling, but with a chance of leftovers depending on your appetite. Just save room for desert too! Try to get there close to 5pm if you can. We arrived at 5:30 and it was already filling up. By the time we left there was a fair line out the door, but there is a lot of seating and a lot of parking to accommodate patrons. 10/10 would visit again! Highly recommend stopping by. Expect to spend about $35 or $40/person.

A lot of people will say you can get a better steak or better experience elsewhere, we like to call them wrong.

My wife and I will go out of our way to go here and enjoy a nice night in the country side with great music, amazing atmosphere and the best cuts of steaks you can get.

Be sure if you decide to come you bring cash and your own bottle of wine or spirits as they are a BYOB but they do have beer, and soft drinks as well and don’t skimp on the funeral brownie for dessert

Out in the middle of nowhere you can get the true old south eating experience here. Sitting in a room where the warm outside flows in through a screened seating area you will enjoy a meal that is truly exceptional. I am a very picky steak eater. I don’t want a bunch of seasoning messing with the flavor of a great steak. Their steak not only was cooked to perfection but seasoned so the great taste of steak was the dominate flavor.
This restaurant is BUSY. Come early. But they are extremely efficient and manage the rush well. A cold beer seems to taste better in here, but make sure to keep your beer cap. We would visit again and certainly take out of town family to visit as well.

I have never had a bad dinner here. It is off the beaten trail, and yet every day that they are open, they are packed. The reason is simple. I am willing to travel the 30-minute drive from jackson and wait for an hour to have one of their steaks. If I had the ability to travel through time, I would go back and start eating the steak all over again because the first bite is amazing every time.

Great little gem just an hour or so from Jackson. It's an old general store turned into a steakhouse. If you are looking for something different for a weekend meal, don't overlook Gibbes..

A+ great place . We drove about 1.5 hours to get here . The restaurant is a old country general store that cooks dinner after 17:00 . The staff was friendly and the the store was neat to shop at . You are seated and eat rite in the the old general store. I have posted some of our food photos from our trip . We had the ribeye steak it was very good.
They do sell beer . One tip I received was if you go then go early because it gets packed quick and the wait time starts to grow . Before we left the line was out the door and people parking and walking just to eat here. Yummy food for sure .

This place is a hidden gem. The food was amazing and the staff was wonderful. The vibe was on point. If you looking for a little different and a way from the crowd place just out side jackson. This is the place for you and your friend. Cash only no credit or debit cards. 20$-30$ a person. Totally worth it I am going back!

Wow! Great food in a place that you will never expect it. Steaks are done exactly like you ask for them to be. So no need to compensate. Rack of lamb is scrumptious 😋.

We are from out of state but have friends who live in MS. We try to come here every time we visit. They have the best steaks and lamb and I have traveled thru much of the US.

Great experience. Even dealing with virus. People enjoyed the ole time feel. Food and service was excellent. Folks waiting talked with one another from the porch.
