U-Gene's Deli and Pizza

I’m a truck driver and I’m always looking for places to eat 😊 the pepperoni and sausage pizza was delicious!! My husband had a Rueben sandwich with a tuna stuffed tomato and said it was the BEST Rueben he’s ever had!! We will definitely be back to eat here!!

Stumbled across this gem. Stopped in the gas station connected and figured I'd check it out. It was a Tuesday and that was Calzone special day. They had the heat box stuffed with pre-made calzones so I tried a Supreme. Best thing I've ever had!! I was grossing myself out by how fast I was shoveling that thing down because it was so amazing. Also, I went back the next day and had one made to order for dinner! Going to try a pizza next time I'm in town for sure! Great place!

I was working at the airport for months and stopped in there for a quick grab and go breakfast at least 2 times a week sometimes more. The guy behind the counter was an awesome person, always in a positive mood and knew who I was. While he stayed busy and kept working, he always found time to be very friendly. The burritos along with the all meet sandwiches were worth every penny. My only regret was not leaving a better tip! Can't wait to be working in the area again.

Do not judge this book by its cover! The place is in a gas station but the food is awesome! The people there were very helpful and nice! I was staying at the Hilton next door and I checked the reviews. Tried it out and they did not disappoint. Reuben was great but I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. I saw a guy with the meatball sub and it looked amazing as well. If you are staying at the Hilton hit this place up. You can walk right across the street. Well worth every dime. This place rocks!

When I first heard about this place, it sounded too good to be true. It’s just a diner attached to a gas station. A hole in the wall. A greasy spoon. But let me tell you, it’s terrific! I love the people and I absolutely am addicted to their pizza. This is probably my favorite pizza by the slice in all of Kansas City, and perhaps all of the United States except perhaps for New York City.

We were in Kansas City, MO for the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo. I had seen U-Gene's on the internet. The reviews were really good so we gave it a try. The reviews were right! We were greeted by a friendly good looking gentleman who took our order to go. We ordered meatball sub, mushroom pizza and macaroni salad. We wandered the attached convenience store while our food was prepared. Our wait was only about 15 minutes. Everything was delicious! I actually craved the macaroni salad and tried to talk my husband into going back for more. Do NOT judge this book by it's cover. If you do you will miss out on a fantastic meal.

The sandwiches look delicious and the place is always packed. Got a slice of pizza and it's pretty good.....good place to stop if your in the area. Biggest reason for 5 stars..... the lady at the register looks like she's ready fight someone, WRONG! She's incredibly nice and funny!

All around excellent food and service. Jim and Steve, great owners, know how to run their business. Debbie awesome front counter and excellent customer service skills. Kim is very helpful during lunch as well. Boys in evening are fast and dependable. Five stars. Try the meat Gene or Gene supreme, excellent choice in pizza. The Italian, turkey club or Reuben are excellent sandwich choices too. Everything on their menu is superb. Give them a try, you'll enjoy it.

We thought we would try this place as we wanted Pizza. It turned out to be pretty good. we ordered a large pie and a meatball sub and both were delicious. The meatballs were especially good. The bread was crisp and the meatball sub was toasted. The pizza reminded me of a good New York style pizza. We will be back.

Where to start? The place has an almost New York delicatessen feel to it with a little bit of a modern and a little bit of old school feel to it. The staff is amazing, and they remember you after you've been going there for a bit.

Now the food. They have sandwiches, a host of tried and true that are available any day of the week and one or two specials each day. All of them are fantastic. If they have sausage, get it. Its Scimeca's, enough said. They also have pizza you can get by the slice or order a whole one in advance to carry out.

I love this place and only wish I could make it there more often than I'm able. Honestly if you walk out of this place not full, you probably ought to consult a doctor...there might be something wrong with you.

Really good hand made sandwiches, I got tuna sandwich and chips and drink. Their pizza smelled good! The macaroni salad was bomb, but the rainbow pasta Italian salad didn't have any dressing.. lol whoops.

Positive: We had the Taco Pizza and it was the best pizza we've had in a very long time! Pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back if we are passing trough KC.

Negative: The place is old and very dirty (including the bathrooms). So long you can overlook the filth, you will love this place.

I called an order in for carry-out while in the states for a school. I haven't had a good NY style pizza in a long time and thought i'd give 'em a try....I was so happy that I didn't use the standard delivery places, because my pizza was awesome. Literally gotta fold it to hold it.... fantastic in my opinion. Time from call to pickup was 15 mins. Thanks!

For gas station pizza, this is surprisingly very good. Actually, it is very good pizza regardless of where you buy it. Hey, considering Joe's KC is from a gas station also maybe there is something to it. They used to have another location in Riverside and I'm sad that it closed.

It's a good place with great food. I didn't expect 5☆ service from a pizzeria attached to a gas station so I wasn't disappointed. The food was good, the price wasn't bad. Good job! Always busy around lunch time, but they handle it great.

Surprisingly good restaurant located in the same building as a gas station convenience mart. Very close to the airport. Pretty much the only choice if you're staying at the Hilton across the street, so it was a nice surprise that it was good.
