Memorial Church

Nice place to explore and learn more about Jamestown and its historic sites.

The atmosphere feels gentle here. It's a great place for a casual stroll. The grounds are very large and there's something to see at every stop.

Besides what little has been preserved and or dug up there's not much original pieces here. Mostly all reconstructions. But, it's still worth the time out to walk and enjoy Virginia's first official settlement.

It’s amazing to see a completely reconstructed building on the Jamestown site. It really helps pull the rest of the site together and having the Timelapse video play on the TV inside was great to watch as well. Instead of just having to use your own imagination, you feel like you are actually at a settlement.

When I visited this they were excavating underneath the floor boards where the man that was knighted had been located. If you look around the structure you might have noticed some emblems, one of which had the Knights Garter, and some attributes to the time period in antiquity. Certainly one of the oldest buildings still standing in the Americas.

The Jamestown Church is the center of the site. When I visited they were working on it. Though, to be honest, they are always working on it. Not the first made church but it survived the longest. And even on the hottest of days it can be a nice cool place to rest.

Historic church- the area is undergoing archaeological discovery revealing a larger community around the original structure.

Thi is the 5th church they constructed in jamestowne that was restored back in early 20th century, it still has Graves of certain individuals in and around the church, very pretty when visiting the jamestowne fort!

Pretty amazing to stand at this sight and soak in all the history. Great tours available but we just walked thru ourselves. A volunteer came up and have an amazing little talk on the fly about the place. Perhaps he has shared before 😎. They had a 1608 spot and the larger standing but being worked on 1617 sight.

An interesting church that is as interesting as a architectural building as a historical one.

Love going to this site. Always more archaeological discoveries being unearthed. 7 months ago there was a costumed reenactment interpretation. Now they're digging up the floor!

Very interesting location. Worth the stop if you're in the area

My son and I went there today. Cold, snowing and rain but well worth it. Next stop Williamsburg. All the people that worked there are very knowledgeable and very nice.

Another place to visit about the founding of our country. They are digging in and around the church and have located the original foundation and gravesites. Very interesting place to visit!

Enjoyed hearing and seeing remnant of fist church founded in America by the Colonists in Jamestown.

Buildings seemed kind of old for my architectural tastes.
