Sonesta ES Suites Fairfax Fair Lakes

My overall experience at Sonesta Suites in Fairfax, VA was wonderful! The staff were so accommodating, flexible and helpful. The suite that I had for two days was far about everything else within that price range. The location is extremely convenient to stores, food and gas. The actual hotel is located at the end of a shopping center and close to several others within less that a 5 minute drive. The suite was clean, had a beautiful fireplace, TVs in both bedrooms and common area. There was a fridge, microwave and other amenities in the kitchenette. I was extremely comfortable. There was no rift raft when I stayed there. The building that I stayed in was quiet and well maintained. I give this hotel and it's wonderful staff, 5 ⭐.

Rooms were very clean and much more spacious than typical hotel rooms. The breakfast was very good with many options to chose from. A great seating area to eat and congregate with family and friends. A very nice courtyard. Highly recommend if you are in the area. It was centrally located between the Marine Corp museum, Quntico, Tomb of the unknown soldier in Arlington and DC Airport among other sights. Great location.

My event client selected Sonesta Suite in Fairfax, VA as the site for her daughter's baby shower. The room was an amazing neutral space to host the shower. The two rooms that Sonesta has available opens up into one large room that can seat up to 84 guests. There were 52 people in attendance for the shower and there was plenty of space for the food, all of the decor elements, guests to move around, activities and favors. The room rental came with a Bluetooth speaker and Large TV that was used to play music and display the event program and slideshow. When I had issues with audio tech, staff members came to assist me so that the event would run smoothly. The Events Manager even took the time to help me set up the space. The staff overall, provided amazing service. I can definitely see why Sonesta Suite in Fairfax, VA was awarded Best Hotel in 2022. I will definitely be returning to stay and host events for my clients. Also, they allow guests to bring their own caterer and baker which most hotels do not. I give Sonesta Suite in Fairfax, VA 5 out of 5 ⭐

To start, I'm pretty critical of places I stay. I believe when you're paying a lot of money to stay somewhere it should be in tip top shape. So here's my full review.

Pros: Conveniently located near all the stores you need. Wal-Mart, CVS, gas stations, and multiple restaurants are all within 2 miles and on a simple to navigate side road so you can avoid the busy traffic. There is a mall 5 minutes down the road. The rooms and buildings themselves are extremely clean and well maintained. I was even more impressed with how clean the outdoor areas were. I think I only saw 1 cigarette bud on the ground which speaks volumes to me. Love the communal grill area. Nice, large area for dogs to relieve themselves. Staff is extremely kind and helpful. Wifi is flawless with no hiccups. TVs are netflix/youtube accessible so no need for a roku. Kitchen in the 2 bedroom suite come fully furnished with everything you need to cook/eat. Fireplace in the 2 bedroom suites. Beds are super comfortable.

Cons: You have to pay for a parking spot. This is something I can't wrap my head around. $5 per car per day with a $35/week cap. Parking is just fine for you're typical car/truck but not ideal if you're pulling a trailer. The hotel is on a dead end road with no outlet and the parking lot is cramped. Breakfast hours aren't very "work friendly". 7am to 9am on weekdays so unfortunately for people who have to leave for work before 7 it's useless. $5 to wash and dry a load of laundry. I've always felt a better business model would be to factor this into room rates and then make laundry facilities "free". It's more convenient than trying to round up change for the machines. There are a few areas on the property that could be better lit at night. Parking lot doesn't have cameras.

Extra info: extended stays receive 1 full housekeeping service per week and 1 "light" service per week (so serviced twice a week). They charge $20 if you request services outside of the scheduled service days.

Overall I absolutely love this hotel. It really is the best we've ever stayed at.

We had a great stay here. The location was great, the staff were friendly, the rooms were clean and well laid out. We much preferred the layout of these rooms to a traditional hotel room. The breakfast was also as good as any continental can be. We had no complaints, and if we need to stay in this area again, we'll be back.

Stayed here for 4 months last year….they had amazing service, the staff is really nice, and is located perfectly…I only have good things to say about this hotel

Quiet location. Easy access to highway. Very clean rooms. Nice size fitness center.

I went for just a relaxing solo weekend trip. I enjoyed the room so much! Very clean and had all you could possibly need during your stay. They oddly had a parking fee ( I guess ) but other wise had a few things on the property that would have been cool to do like the grill and seating area with fire pit. The weather didn’t permit but the property has a ton to do if you wanted to get out of room for other entertainment. There were additional linen which was really nice not to have to ask and wait for them to arrive. All in all I liked my stay and would recommend for future visits.

Rooms are clean, front desk friendly, breakfast people can be a little testy if you want seconds. They turn off pancake machine 30 minutes before breakfast is over.

Excellent Location, near Restaurants and Shopping Center's.

I stayed here for almost 3 months. Rooms are extremely clean. Only saw a bug 1x. Housekeeping rolls deep (always 2+ at a time) and they clean TWICE A WEEK. Most hotels can barely staff once a week. Stephanie, Manager was very helpful. All staff are receptive & friendly.

My favorite place to stay in Fairfax. I've stayed here 5-10 times in 2023 and love these things:
- Quiet. So, so quiet. Unless you open windows, you can't hear highway noise or neighbors.
- Pretty clean, compared to other places. Bathroom is my big concern, and I've always felt ok with the bathroom cleanliness.
- No tour groups screaming in the hallways.
- Easy access to FFX Parkway and 66.
- Ok breakfast options
Things I don't love:
- Parking fee: $5. This is ridiculous considering how few cars are in the lot.
- Facilities are dated. I'm ok with older bathrooms and fixtures, but they are far less modern than other local places and feel a little tired.
- All the other buildings on the street are closed, so the area feels abandoned and a little creepy.

It was an awesome experience, the rooms were very clean, and relaxing. The bed slept well, and shower was on point. The front desk was immediately easy to reach as well. Even with Sonesta doing upgrades, you never felt inconvenienced. They had a nice clean laundry room on site as well. The outside amenities were nice such as the firepower, grill,, tennis courts, and basketball court. The tech area was nice as well as the Lobby area. Also,, the continental breakfast were on point. The only thing I must say that I didn't see any ice machines on each floor. I figured it's probably because of the rooms having a full refrigerator and freezer. Sonesta location was so close to local shopping area, like Walmart, Target , and others. I will recommend this for family.

This is my second time coming to this hotel and both visits have been exceptional EXCEEDING my expectations. First let’s begin with check in. Karla is absolutely incredible. Check in was fast and easy, and when we wanted to extend an extra day she was a fantastic help. The rooms are spacious, dishes were cleaned, TV remotes were sanitized and bagged. This hotel just smelled great. The sofa bed was clean and fresh sheets were in the closet. I have had both the one and two bedroom suites and both have ample lighting in the bathrooms. The breakfast they provide is actual breakfast and is delicious. The freezers in the unit have an ice maker which I love because I didn’t have to leave my room for ice. Only suggestion I would have is a better stopper for the bathtub! Also there are only two washers and two dryers for guest laundry per building (super clean, all functioning properly) so keep that in mind if it’s an extended stay. I absolutely adore this hotel, it truly feels like home away from home!

Even though we only spent one night, we would come back again. Loved the fact that there was a full sized refrigerator, could tell that fire safety was important (saw fire alarms and sprinklers throughout the suite we had) & really good soundproofing. Felt this was a good location to stay for so many sites (grab a metro to go into DC for the day, visit some falls, just go explore the area)
Only con we had was offered breakfast. But yet, you could fix your own, you have the mini kitchen to do it.

This facility was rather nice compared to the Holiday Inn express we usually stay in on business trips. I like the kitchenette and apartment feel.
Highly recommend especially for extended stays.

I had never heard of this brand before but it's very nice and had a full kitchen, nice gym, free WiFi, and a complimentary breakfast with a great spread. I was very happy with my stay there.

This was a phenomenal stay. The location is great right next to a lot of nice eateries and shopping centers, the rooms are spacious and filled with anything you could need on the road, the beds are almost the most comfortable beds I've slept in on the road. The staff are pleasant and friendly and helpful.

Legitimately one of the best stays I've enjoyed while traveling for work

Wow! What a find! This hotel is very clean, updated and the best part...the staff! The woman at the front desk was so accommodating and so friendly. The suite was spotless, bed was comfortable, and everything you need is in the suite. There is a beautiful outdoor area as well with lots of places to relax. Ample parking. If we are in the area again, we would absolutely stay at the Sonesta Suites!

The staff is quite pleasant, and the location is convenient to everything (restaurants, Dunking donuts). The room is spotless, and you feel like you're in your own home with a full kitchen. The price is fair. I strongly suggest it.
