Power County Assessor

When there today after several failed attempts to title and register a new truck in Pocatello. There were about 5 or 6 of us in line. All of us from Pocatello. Sharing frustrated stories of the desaster that the Pocatello office is. It took about 15 minutes to do everything. Both ladies were nice and so helpful. No 2 hr. lines, no online BS and no ridiculousasks. I felt like I was in Idaho again! Way to go above and beyond Power County!!

Not saying they are pulling 'em numbers out of the hat randomly,but I fail to see any factual correlation between constantly increasing property values in the area without any tangible improvements being made either to the houses or to the city in general with the current real estate market.Last time I was told someone in Boise just ordered them to increase all numbers by at least 15% to reflect "current market prices".I am not persuaded those are actual market prices,it just helps you know grab more in taxes and stagnates real estate market.Even years ago 100-120k houses were sold here for more mostly due to lack of available property and LW workers not willing to commute to IF,Pocatello or Ammon.Expecting anyone to pay 190 k for those is pure madness.No new well paying jobs were introduced to the area ever since.Same Lamb Weston,Power County Hospital,Healthwest,seasonal harvest help and gas station jobs are available most of the time if you look for the job in AF most better jobs offered are in Pocatello or even further down the road.Limited number of doctors/lawyers is needed in the county and not everyone is a wealthy farmer.Already few years ago real estate prices were starting to climb above reasonable.Now they are completely out of touch with reality.
