I went for lunch with my family on a Saturday. The food was excellent and the portions were large. The servers are all very good and attentive. The tables can be a little close together so you might want to visit during off hours if you want to talk. There is free parking and most of it is around the back. However, there are not a lot of spaces. The Black Horse Tavern attached to the Golden Lamb restaurant does not require reservations like the Golden Lamb restaurant does. However, both the tavern and the restaurant have the same menu. We toured the hotel afterward.

Had a terrific meal at the restaurant. Loved the decor and history. I had a wonderfully prepared seared lamb shank. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her salad with beets, apricots, and beef tenderloin. The chocolate mouse for dessert was yummy! Wonderful experience!

My husband and I went for our 31st wedding anniversary. The staff was friendly and seem to enjoy working there. The restaurant and rooms are beautifully decorated. The food was excellent. We had the fried cheese curds as an appetizer and the fried chicken as our dinner. Outstanding! Service was excellent and our server didn’t miss a beat. We were even treated to desert for our anniversary which was a lovely gesture.

Our room was very clean. Not a speck of dust to be found. Bedding was white and fresh. The water pressure was fantastic when taking a shower. It was nice to see such a historic building so well maintained.
A very interesting place to visit. Would love to go back. Well worth the 3 hour drive.

Visited here with my parents and brother for a meal while traveling. The food was wonderful, service was excellent, our waiter was very friendly and attentive.

We did not stay in the hotel, so I cannot speak to accommodations. However we did tour the historical rooms and they were beautiful, and a treasure to experience. It was a nice surprise for us to find out that one of the past president we are related to had his own room up there for us to see.

Thank you for a wonderful evening.

First time visiting The Golden Lamb and it definitely did not disappoint. It is a treat to take in the historic building. Absolutely beautiful. Leah was our server and she was very sweet and courteous. We did make reservations, given that it was the Friday before Christmas. Even with it being busy, everything we ordered came out in a reasonable amount of time. The food was also fantastic. We had the sauerkraut balls, signature salad and Shepherds Pie & Cranberry Glazed Seared Salmon. I had the Salmon and it was absolutely delicious. I definitely see us visiting in the future. Thank You Golden Lamb Staff!

Did not stay at the hotel, only dined. There is a tavern/bar connected to the Golden Lamb at the rear of the establishment which you can walk through to get to the dining room. The menu is limited, but well prepared. I had the salmon with cranberry sauce on purees butternut squash and caramelized brussel sprouts. There is also a gift shop down stairs from the tavern.

Came here to eat, not to stay at the hotel.

The service was excellent. The food was excellent. I got the fried chicken; my son got the Shepard's Pie. I will get that next time. The fried chicken was great, and the mashed potatoes and gravy was just the best. But my kid gave me some bites of his Shepards Pie, and it was exceptional.

We were there right after Thanksgiving, so they had a big light display and Santa Claus was in town. Just a great experience and a really neat town.

I enjoy their restaurant and find their breakfast and lunch quite good. It's a place I visit with family or friends for Mother's Day or a birthday celebration. They have ample parking, a great gift store, and Event Meeting Rooms. Being a Historic Site, I have toured the hotel rooms which look clean and comfortable. Walking distance to beautiful downtown stores and eating places.

Very historic. Food crazy good. Service wonderful. We ate on the veranda so outside but heated. Very loud due to traffic but it did not detract from the wonderful visit to this gem.

We came here for a late lunch (a little after 2:00pm on a Sunday) and had an awesome meal. I had the braised short ribs which were tender and just right. I got some pecan pie to go as I was full but it looked too good.

We were passing through town on our way to Dayton airport and stopped here for lunch.

You would like this restaurant if you are in your golden years, watching your salt intake, and like history.

It was a good experience overall. Beautifully restored and/or maintained building that is proud of the history and super attentive staff.

We had their lager to drink, the sauerkraut balls, the cranberry glazed salmon, and the lamb burger.

The lager was perfect.
The sauerkraut tasted like flavorless mush and fried breading, but the dipping sauces paired nicely.
The cranberry glazed salmon was poorly conceived, but cooked consistently. It kind of reminded me of the meals my grandmother served my great-granddaddy when he was in his 90s — nothing “overcooked” per se, but definitely nothing al dente and everything under-seasoned.
The lamb burger came with perfect fries, but I had to salt the actual burger because it had next to no flavor. That’s a first for me.

Altogether I think they hit the nail on the head of what they were going for and IDK if it is a reflection of Ohio food or the wants of their target audience, but I think we’re one and done at this restaurant. Not “bad”, but not satisfying for us foodies.

Lamb burger was very good but we thought the sun dried tomatoes might have been a little sweet. Braised short rib grilled cheese was good. French fries were perfect. Great service in a historic landmark. They just don't make them like this anymore. Price was reasonable especially for the quality.

The town of Lebanon is reminiscent of Stars Hollow with the old-town feel. The Golden Lamb staff is friendly and accommodating. The food was classy with a home style charm, and the cocktails were well-crafted. The historical value of the hotel, and each individual room, is perfectly integrated and even allows non-patrons to experience the history first-hand.

Visited mid-day on a Saturday without a reservation. Checked in and we were seated in the lounge section of the tavern within 20 minutes. Be sure to tell them if you prefer the golden lamb side, as they will give you first available if you aren’t specific. Ordered the sauerkraut balls, house side salads, and split the chateaubriand. The food was superb. The sauerkraut balls were so flavorful and came with mustard and cocktail sauce on the side. The house balsamic dressing is wonderful and the pecans and apples on the salad made it perfect. It is such a great option to be able to split an entree between two people and have full sides added to each person’s meal for $7. The chateaubriand was delicious as were the sides - the Demi glacĂ© was so rich! We came here for the historic value and had a top notch meal. Sadly we were too full for dessert. Next time!!

The food at this historic Restaurant and In. Was out of this world. It was packed full of love and flavor. They have the formal restaurant, a more modern tavern/bar located upstairs and they even have a cute little gift shop (closed while I was eating). I would recommend calling ahead for space in the main restaurant but the upstairs tavern is open seating.

Just as a visitor walking by and not staying there - I was super impressed that you are encouraged go upstairs and take a look around. If a room isn't being stayed in, it's chained off but the door is open so visitors can see inside. Up on the 4th floor are some museum rooms, like the one about the resident child ghost.

We also had an afternoon snack in the dining room - my friends loved the fried sauerkraut balls (apparently a very Ohio thing) and the deviled eggs I had are good with a stronger mustard flavor. We really enjoyed our non-alcoholic drinks - a honey orange sweet tea and a tart cherry lemonade.

I can't say what it's like to stay there - the rooms looked very nice, but just stopping by to eat or look around was a real treat.

The Christmas season is observed with extraordinary care and extensive decor but the real story is the menu and the dining experience. You can spend more money elsewhere and still not enjoy a meal of this quality. Bon appetite!

Great service, always delicious food. We sat on the veranda. Beautiful evening.
Another favorite part of the Golden Lamb visit is the awesome gift shop with amazing items and the friendliest staff!

We stopped for dinner on the way home from Cincinnati. Staff was friendly. Food was great! The Golden Lamb was decorated for Christmas. It was such a pleasant, comfortable environment. The town of Lebanon was festively decorated as well.

It's a historical site with a hotel, tavern, and restaurant. So it's a little pricey. The place is beautiful inside. Didn't get to see the rooms for rent. The food was good and all their food is local from farms. The menu is not your everyday menu either- a lot of different items to choose from. My waiter was efficient, kind, and courteous.
