Emigrant Direct

I have always had a great experience with Emigrant. I have had an account for 15+ years. I haven't used customer service much but when I have it has been top notch.

I have had great experience with their online savings account and the interest rate is better than I can find elsewhere. Easy to transfer money to my checking account with another bank and easy to maintain. I have had my account there for over 10 years. When interest rates were at 0% the interest wasn't great but better than I could get with my bank.

I'm not sure why this has such bad reviews. I have used this for over 15 years, and it always has the better rates. Keep in mind that there is EmigranDirect 3.50% , Mysavingsdirect 4.35% , and DollarDirect 4%, all the same bank. Some offer better rates than the other, but it is easy to transfer your funds between them. Customer Service is alright, but I barely use it.

I’m unsure why this bank has poor reviews. I’ve used them for over 16 years. They’re reliable, safe and easy to transfer funds. Better interest rates than any local bank.

Great for saving account!

Emigrant did use to have interest rates so high that when I needed a little cash I could take it from the interest. Not any more. But they are still a good secure bank that you can trust.

EmigrantDirect is not bad. They have decent customer service, and their "high-interest" accounts actually did have high interest at one point. However, that has not been the case for several years. My experience is that EmigrantDirect signs up new customers with a high interest rate and then drops the interest rate to be lower than what you can find elsewhere. I asked about increasing the rates, even if for just being a long-term loyal customer, but they were not interested. Therefore I have a low interest, like the low interest that I receive, to keep a savings account that is ironically named "high-interest". I would give a higher rating if EmigrantDirect decides to rename their "High Interest Savings Account" with an accurate name, like "Low Interest Savings Account" or "High Interest Savings Account to Sign Up New Customers and then Later Become Low Interest Savings Account."

Had a My Savings Direct account. Rigid policies that make transferring money very difficult. Nasty customer service people who are impolite and difficult to deal with. Closed soon after opening. Decent rates but not worth the hassles. Not recommended.

Website style sheet is a mess and the website itself runs at a slow crawl. Not worth the effort to keep the account up. Will be closing and transferring the funds to my interest bearing checking. I no longer need to separate my savings now that I have budgeting software that allows me to envelop budget. YNAB

this site stealing the money because for easy things , they charge up to $200 dollars and the scam when you try to get to the application they ask you for your bank first . I can't believe myself paying 199 to print me an application.

LONG LONG time ago had nice interest rates, like said before by someone else, probably just t get people to join.
