Next Door Kitchen and Bar

I ended up at this restaurant as a nearby Turkish place was closed due to snow in April. We were a party of 4 and got seated immediately even though we showed up without a reservation. This placed was packed on Thursday evening. The waitress was courteous and offered us some treats while we decided on our dinner. We got calamari and roasted cauliflower for the starters moving on to salmon, scallops and a vegetarian dish that the waitress suggested. Flavors were on the spot and cooked to perfection. Must visit if you are in Saratoga or Ballston Spa.

This was recommended to us by a friend to come to during our visit to the area. We sat at the bar and had drinks while waiting for our table to be ready and the bartender was nice and the drinks were good that we ordered. After being sat we were quickly helped , the tomato and burrata salad was delicious. We also ordered the brussel sprouts and meatballs and they were delicious. I tried the scallops on the dinner specials list and it was very tasty as well. The sticky toffee pudding was amazing for dessert. Overall everything was excellent and we were very happy with this place and recommend it.

I've been here several times. Everything about it is great. Specials, appetizers, wine selection, bourbons, dinner entrees, desserts, service.. all great. Jeremy behind the bar... awesome. Four of us were seated immediately with a reservation, which I highly recommend. Water kept coming. Menus arrived quickly. We started with pulled pork kimchi egg rolls and calamari. The calamari is not breaded. It comes with a nice sauce containing chickpeas. Definitely one of my favorite calamari dishes. I tried the sweet potato soup that has pecans and spinach (I believe). The servers description was much better. Nevertheless, the soup was delicious. I also had the strip steak. It was cooked to temp and well seasoned. I got hand cut fries and spinach for sides. We shared :) Great place. At other times, I ordered the Next Door Burger. It's slightly messy, but worth it. Very delicious. Also give the Kermit Lynch Cotes Du Rhone a try; a good red, with hints of cherries, mild oak, and black olive. Pair with beef or pasta, not fish (my opinion).

A wonderful restaurant in the heart of Ballston Spa. The restaurant has an intimate atmosphere, friendly staff and the impeccable food. The Next Door has a very extensive liquor selection. I will definitely return when in the area.

Called the place later in the evening on Friday and was able to get a table. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, the staff courteous and attentive. I ordered the soup special, curry butternut squash and roasted beet salad with a piece of salmon. The soup was very nice though I did not try to eat the hot red peppers in it- the salad was very nice as well and the salmon was fully cooked as I had asked and was not dry which was a nice surprise. All and all a great experience- highly recommend

Absolutely lovely. My sister took me for dinner here Thursday night. She spoke highly of one of the servers Booey she had in the past and we luckily got him again! His service elevated our already phenomenal meal. We enjoyed cocktails and mocktails, well thought out and seasoned entrees using seasonal produce and divine desserts. I recommend the cider donut bread pudding in particular. It was a seasonal dessert that was so good they added it permanently to the menu and with good reason! It feels like a northeastern hug. Exactly the kind of dessert you want on a crisp evening in autumn. The atmosphere is also quite lovely and we felt our meal was paced well start to finish. Would absolutely recommend.

Excellent dinner in a cool little town. Our first time in Balston Spa and Next Door Kitchen should be a go to. Reservations are not easy to get, so we gambled on sitting at the bar and it was a home run. Service was perfect and the barkeep was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and very personable. We enjoyed a couple of their specials and all were fantastic. Nice place and highly recommended!

One of my favorite local restaurants! The chefs creations are always so innovative and flavorful! The pineapple margarita, crab and ricotta fritters, shrimp and corn bisque, watermelon feta salad, and of course the best fried chicken all pictured below were amazing! We've never had a bad meal here. Thank you NDK!

Every step of the evening was amazing. Between the food choices to portion sizes. The service the prices the drinks. Everything was beyond amazing. Highly recommend this place for an amazing experience. I wish I thought to take better photos but I enjoyed my date and the environment too much to remember to take out my phone! I will attach the one of my almost finished cocktail (which it should be noted the craft drinks are amazing!) I will also add the one of my very satisfied date who reminded me photos help reviews 😅 (also huge shout out to Molly for being the perfect server as well as the rest of the staff who went above and beyond) It should also be noted the specials are definitely worth checking out! And the desert trio was beyond perfect!

My lady and I had the pleasure of visiting Next Door Kitchen and I have to say, this is now the place in the Capital Region by which I will judge all other restaurants.

We dined on a temperate Saturday in Early June, so we opted to sit outside, as there was readily available seating. Inside was full of well dressed patrons who were clearly enjoying their experience.

We were seated right away and our waitress wasted no time in greeting us. Her name is Molly and she is truly amazing! A very friendly and hospitable personality mixed with a great deal of knowledge and professionalism. My lady grew up in the restaurant business and she noticed that all of the waitstaff were exceptionally well trained on server etiquette.

We ordered a couple of the more inventive cocktails and picked a bottle of wine to go with our dinner. It was actually Molly's recommendation and paired incredibly well with the NY Strip au poivre which we both ordered. Before our entree we enjoyed the Kimchee Eggrolls, which were also incredible. And the wine was so delicious we ordered another bottle to go!

Matt Hall, one of the young entrepreneurs behind this great place, came out to greet us before the night was through and told us about the huge selection of bourbons that we can try during our future visits. And there will be many. Next Door Kitchen is one of the greats - and even if you don't live close by, I would still urge you to make the trip and experience this establishment. You will be happy that you did!

This was our third time here and we were once again thrilled with the delicious food, selection of drinks, and amazing service. We have been lucky enough to get Derek both times that we sat at the bar and both times were so impressed with his attention to detail, promptness, and ability to connect with his customers. Next Door Kitchen has officially become a favorite of ours and we cannot recommend it enough.

Had a wonderful date night here, we dined at the bar on a busy friday night. Derek took care of us and he was absolutely wonderful. So personable and friendly, And very knowledgeable with the specials and menu. Food was delicious, I was really looking forward to the Butter scotch Creme brulee which was absolutely Delicious!! Cozy upscale restaurant with a delicious menu!

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. The food was delicious, flavorful and perfectly cooked. The decor is wonderful post industrial. Service was fantastic. Cannot rave enough about this. To say "recommended" is an understatement. Wonderful!

A friend suggested we hit this place up for my birthday, and Next Door does not disappoint. The environment is cool, hip, and beautifully decorated. The entire staff was super friendly and accommodating. Not to mention attentive and detail oriented.

But the food is where this place really shines. I started with carrot ginger soup, which was yummy and delicious. It had freshly cracked pepper on top, and small pickled beets to give it some acid. Then I had the crab ricotta fritters. They were sitting in a sweet chili sauce that was absolutely fantastic!

I almost forgot that they started with rosemary focaccia with an herb bean paste and an amuse-bouche. All were great. But while our apps we're behind devoured, everybody still found it in their hearts to share their apps because they were so thrilled with them. I got to taste the brussel sprouts, which were amazing and a parsnip soup that knocked my socks off!

For dinner I went with the fried chicken, which was pretty great. They may even give Hattie's a run for their money. It came with an apple butter for dipping, a small side of mac and cheese, biscuits, and some collard greens. It really enjoyed this meal and will happily come back to check out some of the other things on the menu.

I’m usually never at a loss for words… but next door kitchen… when my mouth isn’t full of the exquisitely designed creations the chef creates all I can do is smile and nod and prepare myself for the next bite. The quality of the food is second to none. From farm to table I believe. All cooked to order not sitting in warming tables… it is crystal clear the chef loves their job. The reflection it makes in their dishes shines so bright and tastes even better. What makes the experience even better? The ambiance is perfect, laid back and comfortable with a business casual setting. The waitstaff… absolutely amazing and completely engaging. They’re not afraid to suggest their favorite dishes and to me, that means a lot. They work there AND eat there! Each time we dine here it gets better and better. (The shrimp and grits are our go to) but we’ve NEVER had anything that was even just ok. Thank you so much to the amazing team at Next Door Kitchen for bringing the incredible delight to reality.

Whiskey selection is unlike anything Ive ever seen. They also had a 0 proof menu which I LOVE as im on a sober journey. A little small but adorable. It smells amazing inside. We got brown butter brussels, pan roasted salmon and the bucatini trout. The brussels came with crispy shallots and a delicious miso glaze. My salmon was cooked to a perfect medium and came with leek puree, lentils, pickled radish and micro greens. It was life changing! My husband moaned over his whiskey flight and his trout. Our server Booey started us off with two chef samples of a sweet potatoes puree with pecan and some fresh foccocia with a white bean spread. Booey was so helpful and had a great sense of humor. We will be back again and again!

Had a great dinner with fantastic service by Jacquline. We were seated promptly at a nice front window located table. At the table already was the drink and food menu. So many good choices and if you are a bourbon drinker there are well over 100 bottles including some very premium ones. We ordered two glasses of wine, Pinot Grigio and a delicious oaky Chardonnay. Two small slivers of homemade bread with a drop of two chutneys and hummus were complimentary, a nice touch. We split an appetizer, 3 deep fried fritters stuffed with crab and ricotta; so delicious and cooked to perfection. We each had a mixed green salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. If any issue would be the salad, no other vegetables or toppings included and a $7 price tag each. My wife ordered the scallops special, perfectly seared with some crab meat and prepared in a celery root and artichoke topping all infused with flavored oils. I ordered a fried chicken dinner (bone in) and it came with pimento mac & cheese so good) with collard greens that were hearty and so tasty. The hardy serving of chicken was perfectly crispy with the meat moist. One of the best I have had in awhile. There was a little applesauce served with my dinner as well. The desert menu was so good with lots of choices; we split the sticky toffee pudding (just like Gordon Ramsey) served with vanilla ice cream; could have ate 4 of them it was so good. I wish I ordered the apple cider donut bread pudding too. The server said her favorite was the chocolate decadent cake. There will certainly be a next time. The prices are $$$$ but I knew it and have no concerns. Will definitely be a return customer as I want to dry multiple menu entrees and desserts. 🥂

Our meal was beyond fabulous. We had the duck special with orange and hazelnut on parsnip puree, and I count it among the to meals EVER for me.

Absolutely excellent food and service. Highly recommend and will be back again. They do have some outside dining. I recommend making a reservation.

Good was yummy loved the atmosphere and service prices on the high side at least 100 per person but worth it!
