You can no longer save yourself 60% of the cost to obtain a birth certificate that you are required to own (or produce) by the very ones who then charge you exorbitantly to physically have a copy of becuse let's face it, no one has ever had their original birth cert & not needed a copy at some point in their life, & if you want to save $17 shipping charge & travel 20 minutes to get one in person, that's no longer available. They say you can order on the phone, by mail or internet yet they won't do it by phone either and mail...what's that gonna help? Ill need a death certificate by the time the birth cert comes in so...the only option is paying freakishly high prices to get a copy of something that is considered only yours. Soc Sec sends it out free of charge and that's just as important of a document when concerning id theft so tell me again why the only choice for someone on permanent disability & needing it just to rent an apartment is somehow paying nearly $40 & waiting up to 6 weeks for it helping our already steadily declining economy?!?! This is disgraceful & disgusting & no it's not a lesson to keep my records safe because safety doesn't exist in this demonic world and things happen, either through our own negligence or another's but regardless this is not only highway robbery but armed robbery, financial robbery & sanity robbery. $40 is a lot to someone with a TBI who can't ever work at a real job ever again. I can barely stay awake during the day (narcolepsy) however this woke me up today to the fact that we will make the rich richer and the poor own nothing and love it. Jesus is coming soon and he will sort the wheat from the tares. Which one are you in your daily life? Be wheat.

I waited over 9 months to get a certified copy of my birth certificate when they had originally said 100 days, which is still too long in my opinion. Every time I called they just said that they were very behind and there was never any update they could give just to keep waiting. It's absolutely ridiculous that it takes so long to just get a copy of a document that you need for everything these days.

Unfortunately, you can't talk to anyone at the New York State department of health. I am trying to obtain a certified copy of my grandmother's birth certificate for purposes of dual citizenship. I followed the proper procedure and obtained a court order from a court of competent jurisdiction as instructed which by the way, cost thousands of dollars in court and attorney fees. Basically, you sue the New York State Department of Health. You need to deal with Vitalchek to place the order and after a few hundred more dollars, you just get the runaround. I just want to talk to someone that can tell me why I received all the other documents I requested but this one has been on process for 4 months. I totally understand there are covid delays but the rest of the world is opening up and fulfilling their obligations but New York State apparently doesn't think they need to. If they were a business in the private sector, they would not survive. Shame on them for treating citizen taxpayers like this.

I know that the pandemic has made work harder for the employees at this office, but someone has to be able to answer the phone or respond to emails for the people who are looking for status or whatever concern that someone has. We've been waiting 4+ months for a death certificate. This is ridiculous and unfair. The requests for Death/Birth certificates are essential and this office needs to do better at communicating to the public. Not answering the phone and not responding to emails is unprofessional. Do better please.

Let's drive over 3 hours after confirmation of hours via phone call and website to find they are not open till 10am. Hmmm real ID needs and you open for less hours that makes perfect sense.
