Rudders Public House

The kitchen was a little backed up, but the waitress did a great job with expectation management even before we were seated. All in all the chicken sandwiches were amazing and great atmosphere. Also it was nice being able to have our dog out on the heated patio with us. They are super pet friendly.

Found this place while touring New England. What a wonderful restaurant! Had the fish n’ chips like others suggested and it was very delicious. It was not as loud as others described. The place was fairly quiet and service was nice and prompt. Would definitely come back here again when back in New England visiting.

Bartenders were amazing and friendly.
Had the spices Chicken Sandwich. Was off the rails.

Great little spot for some pub grub and fun specials! Love their burgers, fries, and food specials of the day. Service is always great! Dog friendly outdoor patio is a plus!

Maybe it's because I've been eating backpackers meals for three days or maybe it's actually the best burger I've ever had. I don't know, but if I'm ever in this town again, I know where I'll be eating.

We had the best time. Every staff member was so friendly. Service was top notch. We were encouraged to sample beers ahead of time before ordering them to make sure we liked them. Our food was excellent. My husband had the house pulled pork and fries. The fries were soooo good and we really enjoyed the "island ketchup". I had the red beet and arugula salad. Our cocktails -the painkiller, especially was SO GOOD. I had a grapefruit mule. We aren't local but we would love to come back.

Stopped for lunch. The burgers are very good. The bar is clean and well laid out. Service was fast and friendly. A good selection of beers on tap. I recommend.

This place was excellent. The food, the drinks and the service was so good . We ate outside with our dog and it was such a nice place. I am very fussy and if I say it's good it's good. I haven't found many places that were that good. We went there on Tuesday Aug 29 at about 415 pm.

I had the fried chicken sandwich. It was so delicious. The chips were amazing and the dip was little spicy and so good!!!

I went here with some friends and I ordered the fish and chips and it was the best fried fish I have ever had. I can't stop thinking about it. The fries (chips) were ok but if you substitute with actual homemade chips to die for.

Ended up coming here because the place I planned on going was closed. Was in the mood for a burger and was totally impressed with this place. The burger was amazing and the curry ketchup was the perfect addition to my burger. As a curry lover this made my already delicious burger perfect. The service was great and I would highly recommend going here. Parking can be tricky so if you find a spot nearby go for it!

Took a trip through New England with my gf and we found this place as we wrapped up our days activity at the nearby Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth, NH and saw this spot was close by and had an interesting menu. The mozza Luna were incredible. I would’ve preferred marinara sauce with them but the garlic aioli paired great as well. Best cheese pulls ever! And the fried chicken sandwich was easily the best I’ve ever had. The spicy Mayo on it was incredible and worked perfectly with the hot crispy fried chicken and cool tomato. If I lived closer I would be here regularly. If I’m ever back in the area I will return for sure.

Great waitstaff and service!! The fried chicken is awesome and the beans are the best I have ever had. Great strong drinks for a reasonable price!

Another jewel tucked away in the lap of "old kittery". Both inside and outdoor seating. An excellent diverse menu. I had the sofrshell po-boy. Mmmm! Prices a little on the high side but worth every cent. Service is excellent and waitstaff attentive. A greatcway to spend a warm Maine summer day.

Busy place on a Saturday night but still great service and delicious food! I had the Spicy Turkey club with the shrimp and corn chowder. Appetizer was fresh made chips and dip . Recommend all of these!

Amazing service, they brought water our for our dog and were so friendly with our kids. The calamari was delicious as were the burgers and the rest of our meal. We'll be back!

We happened upon Rudders as we were looking for a place for dinner on our way home to New Hampshire from Portland Maine. A nice surprise...great food and friendly staff, casual and inviting atmosphere! Will definitely visit again!
